No idea how you got that feeling. For the past 8 years living in Thailand I have never felt unsafe nor been scammed. There are scams in every country. Keep your wits about you and try to get some street smarts.

    1. There is a significant ex-pat population in Thailand and with the friends you make there it can be like home away from home with lots of available p...y.

    2. Thailand is much safer than Brazil (and my second favorite Latin American destination, Colombia). In Thailand I could comfortably venture out at night whereas in Brazil I will constantly have to be looking over my shoulder.

    3. For me its easier to make non-pro friendships with girls in Thailand; e.g. To get bed mates to cook for you and clean house, etc.

    4. Apartments for rent are plentiful and much cheaper than Brazil (wgs too for that matter).

There is no doubt that the sex in Brazil can't be beat by anywhere else in the world and for me the women are much hotter but for the all round living experience Thailand rules.

Yep. I have seen some of those exact same chicks at Mabs (and along the roadside on Ave A). In the TA days they were 35 and 37 and as nature would have it, 15 years later as they stand in front of Mabs, they are now 50 and 52. Have at them brother!

Some notes from a whole day with privê visits in Centro. I visited roughly 50 privées. I do this privê marathons so I later can concentrate on the ones I liked most.

    General notes:
*A bunch of privées have closed.
    * Some privées have moved, some within the same building and others to new buildings.
    * Some new privées popped up. Funny, a lawyer who followed a customer to the door of his office saw that I was knocking on a door in front of his office. He told me that the privê had closed but recommended another new one. Friendly guy.
    * The elevator guys and the guys cleaning on the floors knows all the privées. Ask them in a nice way and you'll get valuable information.
    * If the building has many privées, take the elevator to the top floor (housing a privê) and work your way down using the stairs.
    * Some privées have raised their prices a little bit, but surprisingly several privées have actually lowered their prices.
    * I find the overall quality of the girls have gone down a bit.
    * The quality of the privées, rooms, showers etc varies a lot. Everything from filthy trash puteiros to elegant establishments.
    * Regarding sala numbers, no need for me writing down 50 sala numbers in a post. The majority of them can be found on Gpguia.

    Av Treze de Maio 33:
This building has many privées. This address can be a bit confusing to a newbie. The entrance to no 33 is actually not on Av Treze de Maio, it's on the Travessa /in the alley. The elevator to some floors are next to the porteiros. The elevator to other floors are a bit hidden. Turn left and take the escalators up one floor and turn left and you'll find the elevators. Just to complicate things even more, the third place where you find elevators is in the next entrance in the alley. In this building it works fine using the stairs to explore the privées.

    Av Treze de Maio 47:
This building also has many privées. Several guys on the street are handing out pamphlets to casas in this building. The majority of the privées in this building are trash puteiros charging from R$30. In general low quality on the girls. They have changed their routine for entering the building. Now you have stay in line, show documents/passport and get registered in their computers to be able to enter the building. This really pissed me off. I told the porteiros I refused to register just to be able to visit a puteiro. I ended up cursing a bit ugly and left the building. No big loss. In this building it also works fine using the stairs to explore the privées.

    Av Rio Branco 156:
This building used to have the most privées. Now there are much fewer. Many elevators and they are quick. Same here, it works fine using the stairs to explore the privées.

    Av Rio Branco 185:
This building has many privées. The elevator guys are very helpful advising about which privées that have the best girls or newbie-girls. This building is a hassle using the stairs. After taking the stairs a couple of floors you'll soon here an annoying voice screaming in the loudspeakers in the corridors, telling that it's forbidden to stay in the corridors.

    Notes on girls:
    * I know some of you like black girl with large horseasses. In Av Treze de Maio 33, sala 1409, works a mulatta girl called Mel. She's quite cute and have a gigantic, round and firm horseass. I'm not into horseasses, but this girl was really impressive. Unfortunately her large tits were fake.
    * Maybe somebody has a fetish for old women. In Av Treze de Maio 33, sala 1205, there are two grandmas working. They were quite scary, but some guys might like them.

    Today recommendations:
I sessioned with two girls today which I can recommend:
    * Name: works at Angels Massagem, 19 years, dark morena, very cute, slim, petite, small very firm tits (no kids), nice shaved p*ssy and a smaller sized very firm bubblebutt. She had quite a lot of firearms tattooed on her body (not because she likes favela bandits, she likes Guns N' Roses). Very good BJ and performed great. Allowed photos. R$90/30 min, R$110/40 min, R$140/60 min.
Normally I never forget a GP name but this one slipped me. I know it was a bit odd working name. I have to blame me forgetting her name because of being introduced to over 200 GPs today.
    * Pillár: works at Dany Massagem (same owner as Angels, but different building). 21 years, dark morena, slim, petite, also with small firm tits (no kids), small Chaplin above p*ssy and also a smaller-sized firm bubblebutt. Today was her first day at this privê (used to work in another privê before). This girl is very special. She's very beautiful, a supersweet girl, hair like the Globeleza (but red), has loots of well-made tattoos and several piercings (including pussy and one nipple). She has tattoed her nipples so they look like two hearts. Perfect BJ and a very wild and excellent performance. Finished with BBBJCIM. Allowed lots of photos, including face. R$100/30 min, R$120/40 min, R$150/60 min. Slightly more expensive than Angels, but Danys have larger rooms with showers inside the room.

The debate over Mabs is interesting. I recall Terrazzo Atlantica the cafe outside Help would start to have a worn, tired crowd late at night as the cafe wound down. What you might find was a more mature woman in her 30's who would've got a lot of looks in a hotel bar back home. Unfortunately in Copacabana during that period, she was competing with hundreds of 19 and 20 year-olds with pretty faces and tight bodies from all over Brazil. On the odd occasion I was relaxing outside the disco and not in the mood for loud music and copious amounts of alcohol, I found these older women very chill and friendly. If you found an attractive mature and took her home, they were great companions. You could almost sense they were both appreciative and actually interested in the companionship. They were never in a hurry to go home.

So I wonder if Mabs has some mature lookers that many would automatically pass on.

I agree with the 2nd statement, yes it cheaper to buy a beach chair yourself or just a towel to lay on.
A guy who doesn't know the exchange rate of his currency in the country he is in or can't do a rough calculation into his own currency of the local price is too stupid to be traveling overseas at all as he is going to get screwed by everyone.

    No, I shouldn't.
    1. He didn't seem to mind to pay USD25.
    2. If a pale gringo with a onedayinRio-redskin isn't smart enough to ask the price before he orders from the worst beach-vendors in Rio, then he should learn his lesson. The next time he propably asks the price before he orders anything.
    3. If I want to check out ho-beach I hang out in the barracas outside of the ho-strip and just stroll by the ho-area when I want to check out the GPs. I never spent a centavo on the ho-beach vendors, but I do know many of them by name. If I had warned the tourist I would have ruined a good business for the vendor and had got myself an enemy.

P.S No brazilian lies down on a towel on the beach. Lying on a towel sends out strong gringo-signals and attracts annoying vendors.

A few days ago I checked out ho-beach in front of Othon Palace. There was an american guy who was going to pay for a chair and one coconut. They vendor told him it cost "thirty". The tourist asked if it was OK to pay with dollar and the vendor said that it was OK and he would accept 25 dollar. The guy payed happily and left. The brazilians close by just shaked their heads.
An advice for those staying some longer time in Rio is to buy a beach chair and a parasol in one of the cheap shops on N Sra Cop. You save money and don't have to sit where somebody else have been sweating their fat asses.

A couple of years ago there was a new law saying that the beach barracas must have a large sign on the barracas showing all the prices, otherwise they would be fined by the fiscals. I can't say if the law is still working as I avoid buying anything from the barracas. I rather buy from the old guys struggling every day with their isopor-boxes (of course they don't sell coconuts).

This is good advice. The beach is full of very observant sellers who spot a naive gringao a mile away by how you move on the beach, what you wear and the fact that you bring a towel to sit on!! LOL that's not the carioca way. Hoe beach sellers will rip you- move to left or right. I buy aqua De coco from a street vendor by Roxy Cinema. He's generous. 8 for a litre+ or from past posto 5- they are 3 for an aqua coco

I don't know. I was responding to Zunga's post about the 8 real coconuts. From his post about "hoe beach", I assume it was in front of the Rio Othon hotel.

I really shouldn't waste any energy answering to your post neither correcting all your errors, that means wasting two minutes of this lovely Sunday afternoon in Rio, but obviously you have problems understanding what's really written and assuming a lot of things that's not written. I really feel sorry for you. Good luck with your life.
