    Uber

I've had uber pick me up at SDU without walking to the mall. As for uber pool, a driver in São Paulo told me of her encounter with a gunman who robbed her and the other passengers in the car. Hat tip to Cartman for suggesting uber black. Typically only another 5-10 reais per ride. That's two or three dollars. In the US, black is another 10-30 usd. Enjoy uber black while in Brazil. Definitely worth the step up.

For those of you lamenting the decline in Rio. Copacabana is an open air senior citizen center, and home of the ugliest pinch-faced, inbred white girls. Also, don't go to SP for white girls. The São Paulo look is caramel with black hair.

And now back to your regularly scheduled wank-off about Help.

My sentiments exactly. New guys (veterans too) need to focus on what's available to them now. There are still fine chicas and they still put it down, so for a newbie, it will be like when we all first went down there. Pretty sure in a few years, post Help Rio will be the good old days to some. LOL.

On my last trip I remember someone telling me that Uber are not allowed to do pick ups at the airport. Does anyone know how much truth there is to it and if so, is there a way to get around it? I would much rather take an Uber next time coming here than paying about the double price for a regular taxi.
Uber now picks up from GIG. You just have to meet them on the *departures* level not arrivals. When you call uber from the departures level, it will allow you to indicate what Door (Portao) you are using. It may be in Portuguese. It takes the drivers a while to get to you, because they are forced to park fairly far away in a waiting area.

At SDU, there is an Uber Lounge at the Bossa Nova Mall where you call and wait for the ubers. You just have to walk a little bit out of the airport itself into the neighboring Bossa Nova Mall.

Yes, Uber is very convenient and cheap and I use it a lot also. On my last trip I used it when leaving, going to Galeo and it was 43 Reais which was cheap. I see in your screenshot that you got en even cheaper price going with Uber Pool which I never used. Seems like going with others will even bring the price down further.

Your best bet is to learn Portuguese and hit up Lapa or any trendy club where the locals party. Also most Brazilian women will not take you seriously if they know your only going to be in town for a short while, and also if you look like the typical gringo and your in your 40's and 50's+, Most of the normal chicks will avoid you like the plague as Brazilians usually assumes any american / European men with a girl is a working girl, so most normal girls will not want that stigma when walking the streets or partying with you, especially if she is attractive. If you look like the typical gringo its better just to do P4P as you don't have to waste your time and you pay for what you really want at the end of the day.
Agree. Free sex is vastly overrated. Mostly b / C its never free. Russians have a saying "the most expensive love is free". Remember the monger motto, "we don't pay them to stay, we pay them to leave". Even living in Brazil online dating is hard to justify given the better then girlfriend sex that is available with many GPS. I had a Tinder date thingy going with one, NSA, all good, but I still found myself preferring my favorite GPS. Other so called non-GPS will want you to take them shopping, to dinner, help them with their credit card debt, "emergencies" etc. In the end they are more $ and more demanding. There can be exceptions of course, but in many cases its not all its cut out to be.

    Some advice please.

    Hi all,

My 1st time to Rio I'm hitting it on 14th-24th Nov. I have built up a list of prives and put together a list from various sites with girls contact numbers / names / addresses and whether they'd do outcalls etc. I am looking into going to Rochina with a guide / translator I have met off Craigslist. Well either that or there a dude called zuzzinho I think. Hes got his own site and does Favela tours, but also does Brazilian Funk nights, and escorts you to and from the parties.

I will also be going to Lapa, but any where recommended would be appreciated. Of course I'll be staying in Copa so any clubs there would also be welcomed.

Can anyone tell me of any nightclubs / bars where I can find WGs and what types of prices I should be looking to pay for LT. P.S. I don't speak any Portuguese so I'm expecting the prices to be higher.

I've never had good experiences with internet dating in Latin America, just never worked for me. Succeeded in Europe, especially Germany, where I found no BS; tried over a very short period of time. Successful in SEA, especially Thailand and the Phils.

    More on the Copacabana scene

Payola, kick-backs and purposeful overbudgeting (padding the budget) so the politicians can get money back under the table.

As long as they can keep this going they will.

Remember that Cabral was the reason Termas stayed open as it was an open secret the governors/mayors office got paid from them to stay open. And to service them.

He then became the gov of Sao Paolo state hence the strong p4p scene there!!!

You now have an evangelical (TV Evangelist) mayor and an anti-sex destination attitude in Rio and sweeping the country in line with the rise of the protestant ultra conservative evangelist church-fastest rising part of the population overtaking catholics soon. This does not spell good news for us mongerers..
I agree with most of what you say.

Help's major problem was its popularity and its location. It was situated bang in the middle of prime Avenida Atlantica real estate, where wealthy cariocas live, and I think they tired of the scene in front of Help every night / early morning. It was hard on the management of Help because whilst they ran an excellent disco and maintained order inside, they couldn't control the street scene outside. Eventually something had to give.

Any new disco is unlikely to be in such a prime location and may even be well away from Copacabana, perhaps Lapa or Centro.

As for the talked about railway to Sao Paulo, the government is broke, and it is unlikely to be funding any infrastructure projects while they struggle to pay pensions. This financial crisis in Brazil has many more chapters to be written.

There were plenty of tutes with smaller asses in Sampa when I was there. Haven't been to Rio in a while, but there were plentiful asses of all shapes and sizes in Sampa, including those "monster donks" too.
