May I ask: are you a shareholder of a terma? Why should I not try to enjoy the same as locals? Because my race would not be accepted? Please clarify.

I am travelling all over the world and always try to find the places where the locals get their shot. Not the overpriced tourist traps. And I always was treated well by the ladies, perhaps also curious about the foreigner visiting them. What is not the case in many of the pimping bars or massage parlors.

Anyway: how to find those privare appartements?

Finding prives in Rio de Janeiro is very easy. You can try Eden Spa, just google it. You can also get off in Carioca, it is only 7 stops from Copacabana. There are many prives like Bel Prazer.

Oh yes. Before Monte Carlo I went to "Massage RJ" just 2 streets further up (in the direction of Ipanema; opposite to McDonalds) which supposedly offers very nice Tantra, etc. Etc. Massages. Unfortunately it seemed to be closed. Me and a few other guys seemed to wander around but there was no open door. Only a church which just had all its community coming out. I believe the entrance would be just the door next to it, but nobody opened the door there.

The entrance is a galeria entrance, only 20 m wide. It's very easy to miss.
The sala number is also hard to read. You and the other guys should have knocked on some more doors and maybe have found the right door.

Everyone has their own opinion. I'm well traveled and I will tell you that Help Disco was the number one mongering destination in the world. It wasn't just the spectacle inside. It was also the spectacle outside at the outdoor oceanfront cafes. Combine that with the sexy, Rio beach culture during the day and the balmy, coastal breezes blowing across the testosterone charged cafes at night, you could not duplicate the experience and maybe never will.

There were also always many, many Sao Paulo pros and semi-pros in Rio during the high tourist season. Hey, everybody needs a vacation. The hottest girl I have ever been with was a SP girl working at Barbarellas. During the Naughty Noughts (2000s) in Rio, I would say the local Rio state girls were the most passionate. Girls from SP and Minas Gerais were some of the hottest, but I found their performance to be more variable.

Sorry for regressing, but I thought I would offer a different perspective.

Wyatt is absolutely correct about the retired Club Help. I first went to Rio back in 2004 and Club Help completely blew my mind and made me the monger I am today. Club Help was indeed the number one mongering spot in the world! Nothing came close and I have traveled all over the world!

Some of the most drop dead gorgeous women on planet earth! And, that's just the hookers on the outside! LOL! Many night's I never made it actually inside the club due to me finding a perfect 10 outside waiting for someone to pay her 15 reals to get inside help. I inside the club were hundreds and hundreds of the sexist hookers anywhere in the world. I fell in love every night in Rio. The music at help was awesome and the vibe was one of pure sex and love.

There will never be another Help. I was hooked on the Delrey in Costa Rica but now that quality is pure shit. I spend a lot of time in Medellin now and the Colombian women are gorgeous and way cheaper. I've booked a Feb trip to Blackbeards in the DR. We will see how that goes.

Great post WyattEarp. Help was the ground zero of the whole Brazil, if not South American, scene. You warmed up at Terraco Atlantico until later in the night the whole crowd entered Help. Help was well run, drinks were cheap and everybody enjoyed themselves. It was good honest fun. What with the beach scene during the day and Meia Pataca post beach and Help you had a perfect Bermuda triangle where some gringos got lost and were never seen of again. Rio is still good but desperately needs a new Help style disco.

Its probably because the ex Gringos who now are fully integrated and speak portugues like myself and get treated like locals don't want the cheap privees overrun with green gringos who will drive the prices up and most likely get ripped off in quite a few of them!

When newbies come to Rio with no portugues the tier 1 termas are the safest most gringo-friendly arenas to start in and most do.

If you're adventurous more power to you-you should hit VM, privees, trash spots, low cost fuck houses, tier 1,2,3 termas, afterhour boates and really dive in. Get ripped off. Have some great sessions. Have some shit sessions. That's how you learn quickly. I was lucky and had amazing sessions the first 10 day trip which totally fucked me up and got me addicted to Rio.

Lapa is a hang out for everyone including above mentioned...but mainly non-pros-very possible to score.

Get your feet wet then you will probably wanna learn portugues.

Just returning from Monte Carlo Therma.

To me the place is less special as many Posts here suggested. Actually not very high Standard, and from the Girls there also were only 1-2 nice 8's or so.

I got a nice mulata, and she tried to immediately book our room for one hour. (Usually you pay 40 min, with a total damage of R470 without Drinks).

Suddenly the price would have been over R600 as the one hour obviously also mean the bigger rooms and not the super small ones used otherwise.

The Girl was nice. Face 10, Body 7, English 0. Yet, and that is most alarming to me, she had a big bruise on one of her legs. And I do not believe that she simply fell over a stair.

For me not a place to return.

I try to find some normal Girls in Lapa and perhaps some nice private house in Centro. So please share if you have up to date info.

I agree that the best gems in Centro you'll find in "lower spots", like prives ranging from R$20-100. In a very concentrated area you'll easily find 40 prives in 4-5 buildings. It's at those places you'll find the newbie diamonds.

I disagree about the recommendation that newbies and one week mongers should visit the prives. I hope they stay in their playground, the termas and Mab's..

I currently have flights booked to Rio for February and am in an awkward situation. Should I cancel and rebook to DR?

DR seems to speak a lot more English than Brazil.

DR seems cheaper to eat, drink, monger and to live in general.

DR has better beaches in my opinion, whiter sand and clearer water.

Brazil, I have more chance of crime happening towards me.

I would like some help or even advice on where to choose. The only thing keeping me going to Brazil at the moment is the girls and me wanting to experience Brazilian culture and their women.

Do I take a massive risk and stay with Brazil or rebook with little risk for DR?

A few things to say. Rio is a fabulous vibrant city in a large country, the DR is a small Caribbean island. In the DR, apart from the nightlife, there is not much to do but go to the beach. Rio offers more options like all big cities. If money is the concern then you will spend far less in the DR. Rio is more expensive than it used to be but has so much to offer that the choice is easy. Rio is far better than the DR. The crime levels are often exaggerated, that said leave an expensive watch at home and use common sense. Start learning some Portuguese, any efforts to speak their language will be well received.
