I am planning a trip to RJ and have been doing my RTFF research on this thread. I plan to focus in large part on the termas, and I noticed that some termas allow customers to pay with credit cards. I would like to hear different opinions as to whether or not you recommend paying with cards.

The advantage for me is that it could enable me to reduce the amount of cash that I would carry and still be able to pay potentially large bills, given the prices of sessions at some of the termas. Given the risk of muggings in RJ, I would be more comfortable carrying less cash. With that said, I might want to carry enough cash with me anyway, in the event that the transactions fail. Give the high levels of cyber crime in Brazil, I would not be surprised if my banks decline the transactions, despite my travel notification to them, and I wonder if they would consider the termas suspicious vendors. Has anyone had issues with declined transactions at termas in particular, but not at other vendors in Brazil?

I know from my day job that the theft and fraudulent use of credit card information is rampant in Brazil, via both corrupt employees and outside hackers. I found many references to this problem in Trip Advisor reviews of the lodging options that I considered. Has anyone that used their cards at termas later observed suspicious transactions from sources other than the termas on their cards?

Some of the posts that I read suggested that there might have been some slight padding of the bills at some termas, but that this slight padding was obvious from a review of the bill before paying it with one's card. Have you seen any outrageously large and unexpected fraudulent charges on your cards from the termas, as might happen at some strip clubs in New York or Las Vegas?

I understand that there may be a surcharge for paying with a card, which I might be willing to pay if it gives me greater peace of mind by enabling me to carry less cash. However, I would certainly not be willing to pay this surcharge for the privilege of fraudulent charges and getting my card frozen.

I am single and do not have to worry about explaining the charges on my card to a wife or anyone else.

I have been to Rio 20+ times and I never carry my cards on me anywhere. I bring cash I need for the day end of. There is a surcharge on CC in termas -usually 10% + or more.

I wouldn't risk paying with cards in Brazil just at random places. The biggest scam place turned out to be Shopping Leblon! Loool Exclusive shopping center in the richest part of town.

If you come Friday, you ll have time to go to 4 by4 , it is open till 3 AM. After sessioning with the girl pick her number to arrange to meet her Sunday.

Forget Dolce Vita, it is often empty, all clubs in Copacabana are the same shit.

Mosaic is good but if you don't speak Portuguese, it will be difficult. Many girls are mechanical there. It is very stressful.

Go to Mabs if you just want to chill.

In recent inquiries I made of hotels in Rio the Marriott, the Pestana and Atlantico Copacabana are girl friendly.

IBIS yes and Best Western. I road tested both. Check in as 2 people and check your GDP in and out and then the next one can come up. Only 2 adults at a time. Ignore the looks in reception. Fuck them.

You did the right thing, just pay her to go away. The only other option you had was to grab her by the throat or twist her arm behind her back and physically throw her out of your apartment. But then she probably would have stood in the hall and banged on your door screaming for help until a neighbor called the police. These girls know that most gringos want no problems, they just want the females to leave quietly.

The only advice I would give you is, in the future, take a couple of pictures of the girl before you go to your hotel / apartment. That way if she acts crazy, you can post her on the internet so everyone will know her scam.

The second option is the best for me, don't pay and kick her out of building, I had the same last year, , I grabbed the girl out of the building, she said if she sees me in Mabs I ll have trouble, I said see you tomorrow nothing happened, they just have a big mouth.

Both options are good but it depends on the person, he also did the right thing not to waste his time with the girl and try to find another one.

Yup, never pay a hooker up front, I always try to explain to these women, that what they are doing is considered a service. In business you are either selling a product or service, you never pay for a service up front, it can be your barber that cuts your hair, getting your car fixed at the mechanic, you never pay up front and if she complains just kick her out.

That's why I am more into termas.

My point was the first sign of a shit session will always come early. Instead of complaining or renegotiating or accepting sub-par service, get dressed and leave, or kick them out. The crap always starts before you have fucked them, so don't pay. I've done this on several occasions and have never needed to be physical with a girl. A stern eye and voice have done the job.

Of course, I'm not taking a Mabs girl, or any street girl back to my place. That's what love motels are for.

Maybe you guys can explain how Larry would have gotten this increasingly agitated female out of his room without it turning into a huge debacle. Maybe if he had sad "Pretty please with sugar on top" she would have stopped, grabbed her purse and quietly left. In my opinion he did nothing wrong, you don't want a big scene at the hotel or apartment building you are staying at, they can kick you out and not return your money. Its best to pay to just get rid of her. Unless you are ready to put this girl in a sleeper hold and carry her out to the sidewalk (Which would cost you a whole lot more than what she was asking for), then the best thing to do is hand over a few reais and go back out for another girl.

Forget the mud ducks at Mabs. I call it the zoo. If it's to your liking, and you do try to find some more girls there, best of luck. If you take one back, and she doesn't do what's agreed, throw her out. They can yell and all that jazz. So what. But get rid of them. Now, if you bang them, you should pay them. Second time to Rio first time for 2 days this time for 2 weeks. Day 1-2 a bust..... Evening at MOBS food sux berrer food at beach huts. Hooked up with very pretty MARIA. 5 ft 2 black hair very pretty nat boobs. Agreed to 250 rand we agreed on what I wanted. Normal stuff kissing, suck on titties BBBJ covered sex, but when we got to my apt and I said I don't pay until its over she went beserk. This problem would never occured if the guy had made a proper "interview" before accepting her offer. There is never no need to hurt the girl.
