There are so many factors behind currency pairs that in the short-run a strong Dollar doesn't necessarily translate into a weak Real. Just eyeballing charts I would say the Real overshot on the downside during the COVID crisis as compared to some of its neighbors. The correction post-COVID has thus been more significant. This was likely from a fear that the crisis would impact Brazil harder and longer. The Argentine Peso has been on a linear decline as the country's fiscal and monetary policies are a mess.

All these countries were deeply effected by COVID too but I'm not seeing the dollar lose ground the same way it has in Brazil as tourist in all these countries has begun to flourish again. I can't help but think that there are other determining factors in play that better explain the BRL's I'm not an world economist and I'm hardly qualified to speak on this subject but I can't help noticing the currency trends of other SA countries in comparison to the BRL. I've been going to Medellin every few months for the past 8 years.

I speak Spanish pretty fluently.

Kind of tempted to go to Brazil.

I speak no Portuguese. And not nothing about Brazil other than what I can read here.

I can get decent prices on flights to Sao Paulo. Not sure what's better for mongering there or Rio or?

I want some Brazilian hotties but haven't gone there mainly for fears about language- especially since I speak Spanish so Colombia is easy for me.

Thoughts on ease of mongering compared to Colombia for a not Portuguese speaker. Thoughts on prices for girls compared to Medellin. Thoughts on safety and lodging prices also appreciated.

I've been to Colombia twice and I'm currently in Rio for the first time.

I doubt I'll ever return to Colombia again as Brazil is better in almost every way.

Comparing Rio to Medellin for example. Rio has way better food, better women (looks and definitely performance IMO), has more options for mongering, more diversity, has loads of beaches compared to none in Medellin, way more tourist activities and Rio is such a beautiful place.

The only thing I think Medellin has better off the top of my head is the malls.

Hi team,

I've been going to Medellin every few months for the past 8 years.

I speak Spanish pretty fluently.

Kind of tempted to go to Brazil.

I speak no Portuguese. And not nothing about Brazil other than what I can read here.

I can get decent prices on flights to Sao Paulo. Not sure what's better for mongering there or Rio or?

I want some Brazilian hotties but haven't gone there mainly for fears about language- especially since I speak Spanish so Colombia is easy for me.

Thoughts on ease of mongering compared to Colombia for a not Portuguese speaker. Thoughts on prices for girls compared to Medellin. Thoughts on safety and lodging prices also appreciated.

Some say Spanish fluency helps a bit. Others say no. Probably really depends on whether the girl you are speaking with has been exposed to a lot of Spanish. I do several weeks of Portuguese audio lessons to get grounded on the basics. It helps a lot. I feel like it's rude not to try. My friends who are bad with languages do fine in Brazil.

Sao Paulo is better for mongering than Rio, but Rio has plenty of girls and venues. Sao Paulo is a landlocked, megapolis. Rio is a beautiful, coastal city and a world-class tourist destination without mongering. Since you enjoy landlocked Medellin for mongering, I would expect that you will enjoy Sao Paulo. Most of us recommend doing both SP and Rio.

As far as prices, safety and lodging, with your over 300 posts you should know that you shouldn't just show up on a country forum here with a newbie "Hey, what's the deal? You need to read the Sao Paulo and Rio forums to figure out what works for you as far as the city, the neighborhood and the venues.
