Since Brazil is an importer of oil, I would say that the Real tracks the commodity index. I haven't checked on Brazil's trade performance in several years, but they have been a big exporter of commodities and raw materials.

I know someone mentioned tourists coming back. Tourists don't make a big enough impact on the currency of a large economy like Brazil. As been said by the locals here many a time, we foreigners also don't really impact the price of garotas.

There are so many factors behind currency pairs that in the short-run a strong Dollar doesn't necessarily translate into a weak Real. Just eyeballing charts I would say the Real overshot on the downside during the COVID crisis as compared to some of its neighbors. The correction post-COVID has thus been more significant. This was likely from a fear that the crisis would impact Brazil harder and longer. The Argentine Peso has been on a linear decline as the country's fiscal and monetary policies are a mess.

    Telegram in Brazil

    https://oglobo.globo.com/politica/mo...rasil-25440928

This kind of cyber effect, for example.

I guess the issue had to do with Bolsonaro allegedly spreading fake news, but this is something that Russia just did. The $10,000 question is when does the internet and the ability to do global banking get impacted.

English and original translated from porto from google translate.

Brasilia— The Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes revoked the decision that suspended the operation of Telegram in Brazil. He stated in an order, signed this Sunday, that the determinations imposed on the platform were fully complied with, which allows for the return of its operation.

Elections: Wikipedia becomes 'war camp' for editions of biographies of politicians.

Moraes ordered the subpoena of the president of the National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL), Wilson Diniz Wellisch, to adopt "immediately" all the necessary measures for the revocation of the measure. The suspension of Telegram was determined by Moraes on the 17th, given that the platform had failed to comply with the minister's determinations.

The suspension was lifted after Telegram deleted a message sent by President Jair Bolsonaro on his in-app channel containing links to a Federal Police (PF) investigation into a hacker's invasion of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) systems. The withdrawal of the post was one of the pending orders to be fulfilled by the application.

In place of the post, the information now appears that the post cannot be submitted because it violated local laws. President Jair Bolsonaro published the PF inquiry in full on his social media on August 4, which led to the opening of an investigation in the Supreme Court.

Throughout his tenure, even without evidence of fraud, the president attacked electronic voting machines, putting their safety in doubt. In the investigation in question, the Federal Police investigated the invasion of a criminal into the Court's systems. There is no evidence, however, that the hack has in any way compromised the electronic voting machines.

Blocking target: Know who are the Russian owners of Telegram.

At 2:45 pm this Sunday, Moraes' office received a message in which Telegram reported full compliance with the pending measures. In addition, the platform appointed a representative in Brazil, Alan Campos Elias Thomaz, as determined.

Telegram informed the STF that it has implemented several measures to minimize the publication of false messages and also a tool to restrict the ability of users involved in the dissemination of disinformation to create new profiles or post on existing channels, citing, by name, Bolsonarista blogger Allan dos Santos. .

"This measure allows us to reduce the risk of repeated violations, and we have already applied it to the authors of channels that were previously identified by the Justice as illegal in Brazil (such as Allan dos Santos)," Telegram said in the message, reproduced in Alexandre's decision. Moraes.

    Publicity.

The platform also stated that, as it does not have an algorithmic feed that recommends posts to its users, since they only see the content they have subscribed to, a list of the 100 most popular Brazilian channels was compiled to be tracked daily by the app's team. In Brazil.

Divergence: Jurists discuss the Telegram block determined by Moraes.

"As these top 100 channels account for over 95% of all views of public Telegram messages in Brazil, we believe this measure will be impactful as it allows us to identify dangerous and deliberately false information on Telegram more efficiently," the platform said. To the Supreme.

Telegram also highlighted that it is establishing partnerships with fact-checking organizations in Brazil, such as Agência Lupa, Aos Fatos and Boatos. Org. The idea is to flag posts with inaccurate information, through a technical solution developed in the "last 24 hours", and also include links to full explanations of relevant facts compiled by fact-checking agencies.

Alexandre de Moraes also determined that companies such as Apple and Google in Brazil, telephone companies and internet servers, which were ordered to make the use of Telegram unfeasible, be summoned to remove the technological obstacles previously determined.

I've been to Colombia twice and I'm currently in Rio for the first time.

I doubt I'll ever return to Colombia again as Brazil is better in almost every way.

Comparing Rio to Medellin for example. Rio has way better food, better women (looks and definitely performance IMO), has more options for mongering, more diversity, has loads of beaches compared to none in Medellin, way more tourist activities and Rio is such a beautiful place.

The only thing I think Medellin has better off the top of my head is the malls.

Some say Spanish fluency helps a bit. Others say no. Probably really depends on whether the girl you are speaking with has been exposed to a lot of Spanish. I do several weeks of Portuguese audio lessons to get grounded on the basics. It helps a lot. I feel like it's rude not to try. My friends who are bad with languages do fine in Brazil.

Sao Paulo is better for mongering than Rio, but Rio has plenty of girls and venues. Sao Paulo is a landlocked, megapolis. Rio is a beautiful, coastal city and a world-class tourist destination without mongering. Since you enjoy landlocked Medellin for mongering, I would expect that you will enjoy Sao Paulo. Most of us recommend doing both SP and Rio.

As far as prices, safety and lodging, with your over 300 posts you should know that you shouldn't just show up on a country forum here with a newbie "Hey, what's the deal? You need to read the Sao Paulo and Rio forums to figure out what works for you as far as the city, the neighborhood and the venues.
