No one has responded with certainty, so I will advise.
Every Sunday they are closed, and last year I was there during the during World Cup games they were almost all closed during the BR games despite it being normal casa hours. I would plan on them being closed 9/7.

As I said previously, your expectations are high for the price you want to pay in Copacabana.

I agree, I recently reserved an apto and was shocked by the increase in price.

Yes, apto prices have gone up.
I rent from the same guy for at least 15 years. Not so many years ago I used to pay R$50/night. Now I have to pay R$80 (and that's with a "buddy-discount"). 1 quarto+sala, AC, cable, close to ex-Help and half a block from the beach.
Even with those high prices it's hard to find decent apartments. The competition isn't from gringos, but brazilians.

I think an apartment the way you described should cost maximum R$100.

I damn near fell out of the chair whn he told me that it was now 75 bucks a night. (For an apart that is 3 blocks from the beach, no internet and no cable, that sounds like a terrible price!)

I paid $80 per night 1 bedroom for a partial beach view at Rua Bolivar / Atlantica at the end of January which is the beginning of the high season. It had cable TV, Internet, and A / C.

You should be able to prove to Alitalia that this is the return leg of your trip if you provide documentation of your Brasil arrival ticket. It would be on file with the airline on which you arrived. If it was an e-ticket, you can locate it with the confirmation number on your return ticket. It should also be available on-line with the issuing airline or travel agent.
