Heard some rumblings in another thread devoted to providing Rio de Janeiro Reports that investors in apartments should buy when the market is down and sell when it is up.

Knowing when to hold them and when to fold them also might apply as well as keep an eye on exchange rates. Sell when you get more bang for your buck, euro, yen etc.

You need a CPF (it functions as a Brazilian Social Security card), a Brazilian friend if you have any might let you use their's. You can get one on line at:

Monthly 3 GB data bundle plus the SIM at 30 R$. It was a nightmare to find that specific shop after several attempts from other Claro / TIM in the same city.

Exactly. I recommend flying to Brazil versus driving, walking or kayaking. Your first step should be off the airplane in Rio.

I like both. But if you have ever been with a Brazilian hooker, you would not mention a Colombian hooker in the same sentence. Brazilian hookers take pride in their work and customer satisfaction is their motto. Not sure what the size of Brazil has to do with anything. Wherever you go you take 1 step at a time.

Ahhh I just have to chime in here, I LOVE Brazil, and brazilian girls absolutely have my heart. Rio was stupid good. I'm adventuring on the other side of the world this summer, just to give europe a chance. But so far, Brazil still has it for me. And I haven't even been to sao paulo yet LOL!

For a termas girl, the options are go home to a crowded house with the family and not make any money or spend some time with a gringo in a decent hotel and make a few dollars. The other option is to spend the night with a local friend and try to score a gringo at Mabs or one of the other clubs. You can tip the scale in your favor simply by being a nice guy. Over the years I have heard guys complain that girls stood them up. Well, I can tell you where they were and it was not because I offered them more money. Guys who treat women like prostitutes or sperm depositories get that in return.

Very well said. I have had good success in getting termas girls to keep their appointments. Let's say 80%-85%. Over the years, I've noticed 4 x4 girls seem very flexible on Friday and will come right after closing. I guess you can say it's striking while the iron is hot. Trying to get a girl to come a day or two later always adds a risk of miscommunication and flaking. And yes, I've had termas girls show up two hours late for afternoon appointments. Call it termas girl time. If you don't get upset with her, it won't affect her performance.

Having said all that, even if the girl has called and said she's on her way be prepared for a no show. Just have an idea that you'll head to a mongering venue in that event.

As I was thinking of essential things about Brazil that I wish I had known during my first visit, one thing in particular came to mind.

How to say no, particularly to street vendors.

Brazilians use their index finger, moving it back and forth. No need to say anything, just look in the direction of the vendor and move your index finger from side to side.

For someone who doesn't speak Portuguese, it also could be used jokingly in the termas to tell a girl no Red Bull and Vodka for you (or your friends). BTW, since Rs are pronounced like Hs in Portuguese and DS often pronounced like gee, it is Heggy or Heggee Bull.

Thanks Exec Talent. Friends, totally new to the Brazil scene. Seems like RIO has more action / value for money than So Paulo? Appreciate recommendations what neighborhoods / hotels are best to stay around to monger (Does bigger hotel chains like Marriotts allow Chica's? Have zero Portuguese. So need to stick with google translator. Or better yet Casa with standard Menu). Considering staying next 2 weekends in RIO and Fly to So Paulo during the week for work and mongering in So Paulo during evenings.

You can also try Mosaic in zona norte next to vila mimosa (open every day) or paris cafe and perola negra in Recreio (closed on Sunday).
