Look for Vale Tudo. A crueler version of MMA.
Those fights are happening all the time.

I find it really strange that for a city that produces some of the best MMA fighters in the world, they have no MMA fights/shows in Rio! I have asked around at some of the BJJ schools and the juice stands that endorse the fighters and they say they dont have MMA fights in Brasil. Really odd.

Posts: 890Can anyone recommend a reasonably good Portuguese tutor in Rio who would come to my office (mid-Copacabana) for perhaps an hour a few times a week?
I have spoken to 1 tutor but she is very booked up. So I need other options.

Nice listing with links to all respective laws that can hit you if you dare to have sex in Brazil (and in most other countries too). I was not aware that sex has can bring that many problems.

I have a trip coming up where I will take a non-stop out of JFK on TAM, arrives Rio 5:30 AM, gives me a full first day to get things going. In November American Airlines is coming out with a non-stop also from JFK to GIG, seems like the non-stop is coming back from the NYC area, more flights more options hopefully the price will come down but unfortunately the demand must be high.

Grab it, it's an excellent deal. I myself booked a one-way to Rio in March, high season, for under $500 and thought it was a deal. If everything works out we will have a 90-minute layover in Charlotte. Haven't flown USAir for years but they seem to be able to fly from point A to point B.

Posts: 1104US Airways, $680 from Charlotte, NC (CLT)...
Checked into getting a round trip flight from the USA, departing Oct 26th, 2010 and returning about 3 to 4 weeks later and US Airways at $680, Charlotte, NC (CLT) to Rio (GIG), was the cheapest quote I received. I don't typically fly out of the USA, but I'm checking my options with regards to flying from the USA.
Is this a fairly good deal? And are there any other good deals (direct flights) out of any other USA Cities that you guys may know of?
Thanks!

On my last trip to Brasil, I also had a still valid Brasil visa on my expired passport. Took both passports with me. Prior to that, I checked with my local Brasilian consulate and they gave me the green lights that as long as the page containing the Brasil valid visa on the expired passport is not torn or has void written on it by your country's passport office when they renew your passport, you'll be fine. I took both passports with me and I had no problem. So make sure that when you go to the passport office, when they void your expired passport, that they do not void nor tear the page that has your valid Brasil passport. This is the key. Remember that and you'll be fine.

When he went to pay the fine a few weeks weeks later on his return, all federal police he spoke to said he was corect and should not be fined. The moral to the story is I would go and get a new visa on the new passport if at all possible. If this is not possible and a federal police officer decides to hassle you just be as polite as possible and try to get another police officer who does not have attitude. A lot of federal police have chips on their shoulders in regards to foriegners, hence in any situations, even when you are 100% correct it is best to be humble.
