There used to be a "guide" in Rio that would take guys to the termas. I looked down on him until I learned more about his services. He was fluent in Portuguese and able to help the guys communicate with the girls and avoid ones that he knew would not be a good experience. As I saw the experience guys were having who used his service versus those who didn't my opinion changed. Even with smartphone translators (which are far from perfect) a guide can be invaluable. They are both there, but there are reports on local forum that mongers have been attacked by girls and their money and phones have been robbed by force at Rua dos Andradas, 69.
