What about accommodation? This is the major hurdle in SP right now. Hotel rates in SP are through the roof. I paid Double Tree Itaim (3* hotel at best) 50 USD during the last phase of Covid. Now the same hotel is 200 USD if I want to book for May 2023. WTF. I don't even dare look up Renaissance Hotel.

During Covid, demand for hotel space was at an all-time low. I booked the Renaissance for $110/ night and the only other hotel guests I saw at breakfast were airline personal. Now all real 5 stars are priced over $150/ night and many like the Renaissance, Hilton, Intercontinental are over $200/ night. The JW Marriott is over $350/ night and Fasano is over are over $400/ night which is crazy except that it is a case of supply and demand.

So, I have adapted. I have no problem staying at quality 4-star hotels priced between $75 and $125 depending on the room and the dates. I prefer a large room with balcony for doobie smoking with my favorite girls, a separate bathtub for my favorite girls again, an outdoor swimming pool, and a good location. The inflated prices you are seeing at the Double Tree may have something to do with Formula 1 week. Look / see what hotel prices are for the weeks and months following F1.

Sao Paulo is very developed. It is not a cheap place. Many wealthy locals. More nicer restaurants and clubs. Pretty much everything cost twice as much as Medellin. They are not in the same league.

That and the number of pussies available. SP pales in comparison.

This is bases on my impression comparing the same type / concept of service based on my experience, not a scientific study:

Brothel: New Life is about US $12 for 30 minutes. Tangara is about USD 28 for 30 minutes. These are the lowest cost well known places so I pick them. A bear is about USD1 in New Life, it is about USD2 in Tangra.

Street food:

The same street food costs much more in Sao Paulo. Are $15 (US $2. 88) vs 6 mil (US1. 28). Medellin comes with drink, while Sao Paulo doesn't come with drink. This is similar in regular local places.

A couple of things that I will miss. A street vendor has stopped making fried rice. Another street vendor has removed ingredients like liver, gizzard,. from their chick soup. It was a sad day when I found out.

Restaurants:

A Vietnamese pho is about 10 USD, after water and a spring roll, the total is about 20 USD. In Medellin, the lunch special that comes with a spring roll is under 5 USD.

A dry aged Tomahawk steak is about USD 20 in a nice restaurant in Medellin. In Sao Paulo, you can easily find steak that cost closer to USD 100 on the menu. A couple pieces of picanha in an above average restaurant will cost USD 15. It is not difficult to spend close to US $ 100 for one person without drink in Sao Paulo. I have never spent even half of that with drink included in any Medellin restaurants that I have been to. I may not have been to the most expensive one but I have been to plenty what are considered expensive.

Daily menu:

The pictures are receipts from orders similar to menu de DIA in Sao Paulo. In Medellin, I rarely go over 5 USD. In Sao Paulo it is pretty easy to go over 10, and there places that are packed ad lunch time can go above 20 easily. These are what locals eat in both cities and are the same concept so I used them for comparison.

These are some of the reasons I think they are not in the same league.

Cell: SP has 5 G coverage, Medellin doesn't.

Metro:

Medellin has the basic model and is above ground. Sao Paulo is fully loaded and is as deep as 4 story underground. It has better signals, signs, restroom, handicap friendly, free condoms. All these are missing in Medellin.

Sao Paulo's bus is 3 times larger than Medellin and schedule is update real time on the bus station on on Google map. Medellin has large minivan as bus.

Sao Paulo ticket price is US $ 0. 8. Medellin is US $0. 5.

Cars:

On average, Sao Paulo has larger cars. Most cars in Medellin are small hatchbacks. This is where I see wealth, instead of looking at exotics cars.

Restaurants:

There is no Michelin starred restaurants in Medellin, Sao Paulo has several.

Live music is common in Sao Paulo, but not in Medellin.

Espresso machines:

Very few espressos machine outside of El Poblado. It's everywhere in Sao Paulo, including Centro. There is only a 2 small areas in Medellin that are more expensive and they serve many tourists and expats. In Sao Paulo, the business are basically supported by locals.

Sao Paulo has much larger parks and Infrastructure inside the city. All parks or in Medellin are tiny in comparison.

I get your point, but I think it is reasonable to compare one Latam country vs another, or one major city vs another major city. I don't think SP and MDE are not in the same league. Airbnb rates in both cities are pretty much the same, so are Uber rates. High end restaurants are a bit more expensive in SP, but not 2 x. I think most of us compare costs in each developing country when deciding where to go. And Colombia definitely got an advantage in terms of best bang for your buck.

PS. I just looked it up, and the average living costs in Colombia are only 20-30% lower than in Brazil. However, the difference in p4p rates is huge

That's funny. In an effort to offer a brief contrast, I actually edited mentioning the cafe in front of Help after I wrote it in my post. There was so much talent in the cafe outside, we often never made it into the club. Damn, I miss those planter boxes. Thanks for the photo uploads. You're right. TA had some decent steak and fish at affordable prices.

After my first time at TA I learned never to sit along the back edge lest you be constantly harassed to buy something from somebody, including a piece of ass from an ugly chick. Be gone with you!

My all-time fav TA Helpee pre-game snack was a dozen oysters on the half shell and a bottle of chablis seco estupidiamente gelado. While we're on the food topic I think Meia Pataka deserves an honourable mention, the food was ah-aight, but the main attraction was the place was a virtual chick magnet.

If you live in the States or Germany, and want to compare apples to apples, you have to take into account all other costs (at least, partially) - flights, hotels, time off work, etc. Etc.

Also, you can't just blindly compare what it would cost in the US / rich countries vs what it costs in Brazil. You have to pay attention to local rates as well. You don't pay 20 reals for a caipirinha at a bar where it costs 10 reals, just because it costs 50 are in the States, do you?

KCRL and ISGers, maybe you can tell me. There was this website bikinidolls.net (no longer online) the photographer had a great eye to pick his models. I suppose they were GPS. But such great asses. I exchanged mails with him back 2002 or 2003 I'm not quite sure, it's been two decades. All pics made in hotels, not one single pic on the beach, this is why I believe it's Sao Paulo or maybe Southern Brasil.

Have you guys seen them or maybe met them? The brunette has a true rocking brazilian body.

I have a whole hard drive full of Helpee fotos. When Helpee was in session you could find me in Rio 3-4 x / a year. And don't forget Terraco Atlantico (last foto), that was a whole different experience all by itself! Plus, the food was pretty decent!
