The exchange shop you mentioned is called 'Seattle Turismo'? I googled the address and 'what's here' shows that business. I will try that place. Last time I used the place across from Shopping Ibirapuera that was recommended by an expat in SP.
I will report back during / after my trip to Brazil.
Speaking of Customs, I had bad experience boarding flight to FRA from LAX -in the jetway they 'randomly' stopped people and were asking how much cash they were carrying. I didn't know how much I had on me so I said 'officer, I would have to count to give you an exact amount'. Apparently the redneck didn't like that answer and asked me to 'follow them' back into the boarding area. Anyhow it was all a dog and pony show. I had my laptop and carry on bag and no checked bags. They went through everything, asked same dumb questions and let me go. All in all, I had $40 in USD and around 100 Euros on me.
Cheers.

Once in BR shop around for a good exchange rate, it can vary greatly. I got my best rate on euros at R. Oscar Freire, 146B. It's a half official casa de cambio, more like some kind of travel agency because they didn't even want to see my passport.
If you still have time you may want to apply for a CPF (cadastro de pessoa fisica) with the Brazil embassy/consulate. I used a Brazilian friend's CPF but having your own is much better (you'll get no proper hospital/doctor's invoice without your own CPF in Brazil). My (women) friend's CPF even got me discounts when I bought condoms at pharmacies!
P.S. On my last trip I brought 13k euros and declared them in Frankfurt before boarding for Brazil, as I was required to above 10k. Nasty experience with Zoll there. I thought they would prevent me from boarding. Have paperwork at hand to prove where you live, where you've worked etc.

Gentlemen -hope everyone her survived the pandemic so far and got the vaccines if their country is offering one! I am hoping to come out of almost two years of Covid travel lock down and planning to hit Brazil for 3-4 weeks starting in SP and then deciding where to go next. I have a question regarding bringing cash to Brazil. I see that you have to declare amount greater than 10,000 reals -is that correct? That sounds too low to be the amount that needs to be declared? I plan to bring slush funds and not use ATM at all. I got burned badly due to stolen card number and unauthorized charges that took me months to recover.
Any foreigners here have experience bringing cash larger than 10 K reals to Brazil? Did you declare it? What was the process at Brazil Customs etc?
Thanks in advance.
Frankfurt.

Pandemic prices for hotels still. Marriott is by the airport and there is a Fast Hotel on the first floor in term 2 inside the airport though the rooms are small and walls are thin. On the second floor there are rooms by the hour.

One of the greats. Best navigator for Rj prives ever. Man does his homework.
Stay in touch.
Ibis near Congonos is always good. For true Spartans there are the love motels on guiamoteis or booking.com.

I need you experts to help a fellow brother out!! I have a 9 hour layover in SP tomorrow, (My flight is at 9:40 PM) I have a girl from Bahia in SP who I want to see and spend the last day with. Are there any reasonably priced hotels near the airport that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I just want a decent spot where we can go out to eat and then return to the hotel for 2-3 sessions before I head back to NYC.

On my next trip I may give 57th House Friend's Club a try. All things being equal (in the selection and sex department), I prefer a club like setting over massage parlor setting even though as I said above, I had an excellent time every time in every SP clinica that I went to.
I do have one question in regards to your post: what does B3 J and IOP stand for? Ha Ha. I figured out MSOG.
