There is a much cheaper way of getting from GRU to Centro / Moema via public transportation. I used it on this past trip to and from the airport. My flight via COPA arrived at terminal #2. Exit the terminal and turn left and follow the sidewalk. After a short walk, you will come across a big bus stop sign that has the bus number 257 with the destination Tatuape Metro Station. Price of ticket is R6. 45. I think there is a bus every 20 or so minutes. The bus will drop you right in front of Tatuape metro station. From there you can the take the metro for R4. 30 and get to you final destination. The bus is very safe and both times the bus was full of passengers.

Funny, that's exactly how I get to and from the airport. Even better if you have a night flight out, you can metro to Tatuape Metro and there is a love motel Messalina about 50 yards behind the 257 stop. So you can spend 4 hours there for R85 and order in a girl and then walk across the street to the bus and be at the airport 40 minutes later.

Hey, I'm thinking of checking out the Sao Paulo scene for the first time. I've never hired a woman before so I'm completely new to this. I fell into an Uber blackhole. After about a week or so (not my first trip here using Uber) I wasn't able to order rides anymore. Kept getting error messages. Reached out to Uber dozens of times to get a resolution. (My payment methods were legit, active and on notice of my travel). Result. Instead of saving my problem, Uber decided to kicke me off their platform.

Yup! My Uber ride from airport to Moemo is so long and took forever and it cost me less than 20 US.

The ease of ordering a ride with few finger tips on your phone standing pretty much anywhere in the city. No need to explain where your are at, which street, which corner etc. There is no way I can imagine calling a cab company in SP and order a ride in Portuguese (I speak zero Portuguese).

I was able to get to all the casas in Vila mariana, Moema, Sao Judas, and Mooca with the Metro and some walking. I love SP's metro, it's so convenient and cheap. I will be staying at an AirBnB close to Rua Augusta this upcoming trip so I think I will be able to get by walking to Casarao and the other bars. I may be the minority here but if I had to choose I would much rather live in SP than Rio.

In Rio, Uber was not working for me, so I downloaded 99 instead and it was working flawlessly for me.
