I think you should choose between BH and Curitiba.

Manaus is just not on the same level unless you get a nice short term GF that you want to get away with.

I would probably choose BH since Curitiba is quite similar to SP.

Maybe find a semi pro and take her to the litoral area of SP for a few days? Maresias, Guaruja, Ilhabela.

I've been there before many many years ago and stayed at the Othon Palace on the Main Street Alfonso Pena ...with a lot of action...but I don't really know where to go in BH except the ones like Sagitarius ( if I remember right ).BTW, I have never had a problem at Love Story! I try to establish some sort of contact with one or more guys at the entry area. And sometimes they help me negotiate later, if needed. And I tip them of course. And, I've not had any issues on Rua Augusta or the places by Kilt either. I don't go to Kilt but used to go to a smaller place across (because I had established a rapport with the bartender there and the boss lady but last time I was there a little over 2 years ago, they were both gone after nearly 10 years. And, also 2-3 of the other ones on that street but I have had mixed luck there. I think I've been lucky with safety because I stay low key. Look like a Brasileiro until I open my mouth. And, even then many just don't believe me. The girls working there and even a flight attendant on AA who called me out once in front of a boatload of passengers, and confidently told everyone that I was ashamed to admit that I was a Brasilian. Haha. God, I just wish I was born a Brasilian, honest to God!! And, that's coming from a true lifelong agnostic! .

The only time I had an issue in Brasil was many years ago when I was held up at night in downtown Curitiba by a couple of teenagers with a pistol (don't know if it was real) who within seconds ruffled through my pockets and took maybe 100 or so reais and let out a happy shriek as they ran across the street. Yeah, so always keep at least $100 reais in your pocket. Oh, and once a girl I was dancing with (on my last trip in 2013) at the famous disco and bar / live band area/complex a few blocks from Zippys in Fortaleza (I forget the name) was kissing me in the dance floor and did a strange thing of doing it with a drink in her mouth. Later I discovered I'd been drugged and she had indeed gone thru my luggage and walked away with about $150 reais. Only those 2 incidents for me in my life and both in Brasil and neither in Rio or SP. Go figure. But both after 2 am! So, in terms of overall life statistics I've been relatively lucky because I do hang out past 5 am and often stay in Centro not too far from Love Story and have walked back at 5 am and gotten away with it many many times! But, I don't scare easy! I been in Bogota when bombs would go off at night or in Thailand or the Philipines or Sosua real late at night. Heck even in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv on work. And once got invited by IRA guys to an after 2 am private bar in a basement in downtown Dublin. And made a donation by check for $100 back in the 80's. Yeah, so I don't scare easy!

In mid-Jan I'm going to be flying into SP in the early hours of the morning (like 1 am!) and flying out again at 11 pm on a long flight home, bafter some happy times in Colombia, I hope!

Bad timing. But I can think of some things I'd rather do than hang around the airport -- with your help, that is.

There are lots of interesting places mentioned in the Forum, (VW, Tangara, Miruna, Akura etc), and I've Googled a few. But with zero Portuguese language skills (desculpe! I'd really appreciate your recommendations. It doesn't need to be top-of-the-line, just somewhere easy to find, with an address that I could easily give to a taxi driver and be confident of passing a happy hour or more before heading back to the airport. My preference would be the kind of place where you can relax with a drink, with the girls dropping by to say Hello, (or where they get into some serious tempting moves!) if such a thing is possible -- but a straight "line-up and take your pick" is also fine.

Your guidance on the process and pricing of your recommendations is much appreciated.

So, I have not been in Brazil for about 2 years. I will be arriving in early Jan for 3 weeks. I will probably spend about 2 weeks in So Paulo. And I am having a tough time understanding the current state of the scene in cities other than SP and Rio.

I plan to spend a week in another city besides SP. Either Belo Horizonte or Curitiba or Manaus. I have not been to Manaus except for a transit stop. And, it's been several years since I have been to any other city other than SP or Fortaleza. Obviously, is a long flight and would crash about 2 of the 7 days just in travel door to door, due to transportation to the airport and back etc.

I have been to Brazil many many times, over decades, I am now in my 50's and my Porto is limited to getting by in restaurants, hotels, bars, taxis etc. Rio is not my thing.

I am familiar with my most places in SP, including the prives. But I prefer non pros and semi pros.

In the past, I have had very good success with Brazil Cupid, but for what ever reason, maybe because I am in my 50 's now, I am not sensing the same kind of vibe and feedback / success rate as before. I know I am weird and different but that's what I like.

So, I am looking for the collective intelligence, experience and wisdom of you guys here to tell me whether in Jan 2016, for someone like me, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba or Manaus (I would lose 2 of 7 days to travel) is best at this time for someone like me and my frame of mind and likes.

The reason for this post is because I have not been in Brazil for a few years and I am out of touch and that too only visited SP and Fortaleza about 2 years ago.

I am NOT into RIO but one girl did take the bus from Rio suburbs to SP and spend 2-3 days with me last time I visited. And, I suppose I could call her again if I wanted. And, Fortalleza was good but it's a 3 hour flight each way, as opposed to 50 minutes to BH or Curitiba.

Went to Scandalo tonight on the recommendation of a very successful, good-looking Brazilian businessman who said it had better girls than Cafe Foto or Bomboa these days.

Now hold on, Cartman. Yeah, I know that I know better than to go to these places. Still, every once in a while it's good for a market check, and I was with other businesspeople who like these kind of joints. And they were paying.

Entrada is are $220. Room charge on premise is are $180. What the girl charges is negotiable but these days I think the chicks are starting out high like are $700-are $800 and maybe with persistence and good portuguese, you can talk them down to are $500 or so. Didn't try.

What really struck me is that it was (a) really busy, including the outside patio areas; and (b) the girls (or 90% of them) had that look of hardened professionals, with a lot of work done (tits, ass, lips, etc) and as a rule were on the older side.

Clinica girls generally seem so vibrant and fresh by comparison.

Needless to say I was disappointed. But for those who want data and opinions, there it is.
