Planning to stay for about 12-14 days.

I will declare on arrival. I will have it spread out on my person, and my handbag and secret pockets etc on the way from the airport.

The reasons for bringing cash are my own, unfortunately not able to share.

Just be aware that by bringing in that much cash $16K+ (US), you may paint a target on your back, coming from the airport. Wish I could say all Brazilian Customs Officers were upstanding and law abiding.

While I, don't think it's as prevalent as bygone days of old, but tip-offs to criminal elements, w/r to gringos bringing in large sums money, had been know to happen from time to time. I think Rio more than Sao Paulo, but none the less, feel free to be as paranoid as you want coming in from the airport, on your taxi/uber until you get to your intended hotel.

Take care, take precautions, keep your wits about yourself, keep your head on a swivel and don't broadcast your whereabouts or travel plans while in transit with large sums of unsecured money. Good luck and report back.

I'd just recommend open a Charles Schwab checking account and use Bradesco ATM. You get the best exchange rate and no ATM fees. Super convenient and the ATMs are everywhere if you need to use other ATMs. If other ATMs charge you fees, Charles Schwab will refund it at the end of monthly statement. There is even ATM inside Scandallo.

Initially, I was thinking of carrying a ot of cash too, but experience members told me just use ATMs.

And make sure you only use ATMs located inside of a secure place. Never use one located outside on the street. Too many skim scams that way. So don't do it!

Where do you like to exchange your money when you're staying in SP? I can think of many places that give less than stellar exchanges, but not many with preferred rates. I usually change my cash in moema at the get money exchange house inside the ibirapuera shopping on the 3rd or 4th floor. Their rates seem fair but I'm wondering if I'm selling myself short by not exchanging my cash at another SP casa de cambio with better offered rates.

You pay after in the clinicas. However, if I remember correctly they always made me pay before at Abbobora.

Haven't paid upfront yet. If they ask, I show them the money and give them half. Rest after we are done. If they demand upfront, I guess I would ask them to leave but since it hasn't happened yet.

Since I joined this website back in 2019, I have taken out 3 Scandello girls for a long weekend and paid afterwards. Each girls cost 4 K for the weekend. I also had 2 from PA who I paid at the end and I had 2 threesomes who I also paid at the end of the weekend.

Yeah as far as I recall always pay after at Scandallo. Pretty much my standard worldwide so I think I would recall if a girl hit me for up front. It's possible I suppose because I was drinking always and go with the flow. But 90% sure it's been all after.

Will get tested before the trip and flash the report around to see who bites.

I will pay on the daily of course, but IMHO I've found that paying upfront I. E as soon as you enter the room with the girl creates a sense of goodwill maybe, I've mostly always had fantastic experiences following this.

I speak no Portuguese whatsoever, hell don't even know how to say thank you and goodbye. Shouldn't be a problem with the translator apps.

Regarding the money .

Yes carrying about 10 K in cash and the rest on a prepaid forex card. Will try and exchange 3 k every third day or so. I've found a smattering of exchange places in a mall near Hyatt. Anyone have any experiences with these? I am paranoid about being followed and mugged LOL.

I'm visiting Sao Paulo first time Nov 18-21 and interested to make friends with locals and expats that live here and experience how it is like to go to bar and pick up girls and have fun. I can always try escorts, massage, strip clubs, etc but would love to experience something more authentic as I plan to visit here often with the goal of establishing a permanent residency in Brazil and even learning a bit of Portuguese. I'll be staying at a nice hotel in Jardins area and happy to pick up the dinner / drinks tab for us.
