Posts: 2246Well said, senor nounce! Thanks for the up to date information.
On a broad subject, on the topic of using cards for payment, there is a book, "the future of money" that I need to listen to / read.

Posts: 130Holy. Can't believe its faster than tmobile 5 g and verizon that I have been using in the US. I am only able to get about 200 mbps max in the USA with these. Most of the time its about 100 mpbs. 100 is sufficient for me though.
I also get the TIM prepaid when I'm in Brazil. Its 15 reais with the sim and will last me a week.

Visa Electron works with most stores and street vendors. Use a debit card with limited amount of balance, so if it gets skimmed or cloned, you won't lose too much.
Credit cards, only in formal clubs and boates. But as you say, cash is king in terms of privacy, otherwise very funny business names will be shown in your monthly report.

I have both Google Fi and T-Mobile but I also get local SIM. It appears 5 G is available in part of the city. The higher download speed is 5 G, and the lower one is WiFi.
