I had a short stopover at Sao Paulo recently. I got 2 TIM chips, each for a month, for the next two months. According to the seller, I can use the second SIM after my first SIM expires in 30 days. I am still not sure if the seller understood what I was trying to do. She told me to make 1 phone call each day for the first 2 days to keep the second SIM active. I will find out next month to see if my second SIM will give me another 30 days or not.

I had some unfinished business in Vila Mariana. I was in the area, so I went to Yankins. There lineup was poor in the morning. I picked one that the manager told me was very good, so I skipped the interview. I was given room #2 upstairs. It must have been remodeled recently. It looked new and spotless. That was why I walked into the shower glass door without seeing it was closed. Fortunately, I did not break it and I was fine. The girl and I both got a good laugh. I realized that I may have made a mistake when the girl tried to put the condom on for oral. Haha. I asked the girl nicely with a "please", she changed her mind and gave me a BBBJ instead. My Portuguese is poor but we shared some common interests like diving, and Brazilian food so I was able to comprehend more than usual. She taught me a new word maconha. This is a girl that I really miss but as it was my last day, I did not get her number and I never see her in Tangara's WhatsApp lineup. By the time I got to the restaurant, it was after 3 PM and closed but I made it this trip.

1. Wrong, most Marriott Exec Apartment rooms are smoke free.

2. Check out my recommendations in the hotel thread. I have stayed in all the places I write about.

3. Five Star and Four-Star SP hotel prices are going through the roof. You can still find deals occasionally, but you must start your search early and keep searching on a weekly basis until you find something reasonable. I do not consider paying $250/ night and above for the Renaissance, Hilton, or JW Marriott, reasonable, but if you do, the more power to you, in which case you might be interested in Hotel Fasano Jardins or Hotel Fasano Itaim Bibi which are both priced well above $500/ night. I once stayed at the Fasano Ipanema during Omicron back in 2021 for around $125/ night. It was a pretty good hotel. KKK. The hotel restaurant was phenomenal. P.S. I once took an SP MClass escort, my "centerfold," to the Fasano Jardins Hotel restaurant and the tuna dish I ordered was fucking amazing!

4. The way I get around this hotel $$$ issue is by having / using travel Credit Cards that offer annual free night benefits and hotel points. There are some incredible bonus offers for signing up for one of these CC's.

5. On my next trip planned for June / July a good portion of my stays will be at the Hyatt, JW Marriott, and Intercontinental free on points and vouchers. The rest of my SP nights will be spent at comfortable and convenient 4.5 stars for around $100 to $125/ night. I do not know of any SP hotels which are not girl friendly, but always make reservations for 2 persons to avoid any possible issues. As I said, you have to search for these quality hotels early and often if you want a reasonable price. Check out the traveler ratings on Expedia. I have found that any hotel with an 8. 8 overall traveler rating or higher is pretty damn good. I prefer Itaim Bibi and Jardins neighborhoods, but the Berrini area is ok too.

I didn't see you make any posts specifically about the JW but it looks like their lounge is open 24/7. How is it for walkable stuff compared to the Renaissance in Jardins? And how about girl friendliness. Ie, bringing two girls is OK? I was never questioned once in the Renaissance and am debating how much I want to go there vs. JW which seems a bit nicer.

I have a person who delivers to my hotel and he gives a pretty good rate. Last week, the exchange rate was 4. 96 and he delivered at 4. 90 to my hotel. If you want his WhatsApp, I can PM the number. I usually text him a day before I arrive into SP. He only speaks Portuguese so you will have to use google translate.

Seattle travel used to have the best exchange rate, no passport needed.

Seattle is the best of the lot and easy to get to, but the best fx exchange rate is only available with the Schaab no fee ATM card. It is a true travel game changer. I only bring emergency / backup US $$$ with me now.

Honestly, it's never been mentioned too much on this forum but converting money in your home country is the most convenient. Yes, you'll lose some money on the conversion rate but it's incredibly convenient. I never had to step foot into a bank or exchange place while over there. Whatever I didn't use, I converted back. Convenience costs money but in my opinion it was worth it.

As for the SIM cards, it's hit or miss. I don't have too much experience with that.

Thanks for info. I booked the Renaissance for 4 nights but had to set departure date 2 days before my flight since fuckers at Marriott jacked the price to $800 per night Sept. 5th and 6th. NFL game is in SP on the 6th so they take advantage. I'll book at lower price hotel that's GF friendly remaining two nights. Hassle moving for two nights but no way am I wasting money I could be using to monger.

Yeah, it looks like all the American chain hotels are going wild on the dates you specified. I had a similar problem although not as severe for the dates of June 25 to June 28. Normally the Hyatt wants 9000 points for a night's stay, but on the specific dates I mentioned they want 15,000 points / night.

Fuck them. KKK. Check out the Grand Mercure Itaim Bibi or the Gran Estanplaza Berrini. Both hotels are friendly, quality, 4. 35 star hotels that I have stayed at many times. The Itaim Bibi neighborhood is better for restaurants and walking around plus that hotel is 2 blocks from Bomboa. It is absolutely girl friendly.

Staying SP early Sept. I want to stay in central area of SP, Itaim Bibi, Jardin or Paulista. Need advice on more upscale hotels that are GF or reasonable additional fee. Marriott's or Hilton like will do. Yes I did see thread on Marriott Exec Apts and looking at -- seems like all smoking rooms which make me gag. I do not take street hookers to hotels. Girls will be dressed decently and behave.

Try the Renaissance. Not only is it GF, you'll usually find some overpriced GDPs in the lobby bar.

Planning a trip to SP and perusing through the thread I gather that there are very few hotels that are girl friendly. I am leaning towards Air BnB with a booking for two adults. Anyone used Air BnB before at SP that has any issues with bringing in girls?
