Here is the May 2022 forecast for SP.

    https://www.accuweather.com/en/br/s%...-weather/45881

As you can see the weather varies. On a sunny day SP weather can be real nice with a high around 76 F and all you may need is a windbreaker or nothing at all. But on a cloudy, rainy night the lows can be near 53 F which is not bad by Chicago or Berlin fall standards, but it warrants a versatile 3 season jacket if you want to be totally unaffected by the chill. And like I said in my previous post, I also recommend bringing a Patagonia Fleece Pullover or warm wool sweater to be completely comfortable on those chilly days in your unheated hotel room. That said, you don't need to bring anything extra except maybe a light weight windbreaker if you are the cold tolerant type.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but is it worthwhile mongering in São Paulo shortly before, during and after Carnaval? Does the talent dry up as people head away to party?

    Give me some heat!

The first time I went to Sao Paulo, it was during the winter months down there. Overall, what they call "cold" outside is nothing to me, but the temperature in my hotel was unacceptably cool with inadequate heat coming in through the ventilation, no matter how much I tried to adjust the temperature in my room. There were a number of problems with the place, Hotel Mercure on Lavandisca in Moema, that I never stayed there again and cannot recommend it.

I totally agree. In SP you don't need a heater. Certainly not in May. There might be a few days late June to early August where it could be a bit chilly but it is not like Bogota for example. I requested a portable heater during my stay there, in SP winter never. During the day it gets warmer and heats up the room anyway.

    Hotel Comparison / Review

Forget about heating in the other two 5 star hotels where thermostat heat does not exist, but it is not that bad. Room temperatures at the Renaissance and the Intercontinental never fell below 70 degrees during my stays so it is manageable even for a Florida boy like myself who prefers a warm 78 degrees Fahrenheit ambient temp in my home. My solution to the lack of room heating in Southern Brazil is to bring along my Patagonia Fleece Pullover. I wear it all the time in my hotel room and I am never cold.

I think the Hyatt is the best of these three 5 star hotels because it has the nicest rooms and offers the best hotel amenities, but it has the worst location of the three which is something that I can not ignore. It is therefore not my 1st choice in hotels in SP. The Renaissance & the Intercontinental have the best locations. The Renaissance has nicer rooms and just a little bit better location than the Intercontinental, but the Intercontinental has a nicer swimming pool than the Renaissance.

There are FL hookers that hang out at the Hyatt and Renaissance Lobby Bars if that is of interest to anyone. I have never seen hookers hanging out at the Intercontinental.

Of course, there are room safes in all 3 hotels. The Hyatt and Renaissance room safes were large enough to stow my 15 inch laptop. I can't remember if the Intercontinental room safe was equally as large or I had to stow my laptop in my suitcase.

My hotel preference is therefore simple: I view the Renaissance & Intercontinental as interchangeable. I will stay at whichever hotel offers me the best deal and on the basis of the current amount of hotel points (miles) and free voucher nights I have in my 2 Chase Hotel accounts.

On my almost upcoming visit which begins this week, I am staying 3 nights for free at the Intercontinental and 5 nights free at the Renaissance (Marriott) in addition to a few pay later nights at both hotels and I am also staying at the Grand Hyatt free on points a couple nights before I fly to RJ.
Good review, Thanks for posting! Also good utilization of Frequent Flyer / Hotel Rewards Points for free stays at Hotels. Frees up more funds for "entertainment"!

Renaissance is better situated than Double Tree for Casarao which now is reported to be operating (on my last trip it was still closed). Thanks.

Yes to safe no to heat like most places but can request a portable heater. Considered one of the top hotels in SP. I avoid telling girls where I'm staying so they don't think they can jack up their prices because I'm staying at a nice hotel.

Planning to go to SP next week

Does anyone know if places like Tangara, Casarao, Scandallo would stay open during Easter and Tiradentes holiday?

Good report. Looking forward to seeing you in Rio. You will find the clinicas / prives in Rio and Mosaico, Perola Negra similar to your venues in SP.

Went back to 57 Friend's but it was dead as a dorn nail but I met up with a fellow scholar who hooked me up with the whatsapp group, thanks J.

He recommended I try Casarao and it did indeed work out. Casarao was very busy and had around 50 girls. Definitely more working class vibe but still plenty of brancas etc. Most ask for 500 but I've been able to get them down to 400, which I did with a blue eyed Redhead from Parana. Casarao fees are 50 for consumo and 100 for room. I never asked if there was a take home fee.

The next day (Friday) I repeated what I did. Tangara was even drier so I left and 57 was dead too, went to Prime which had about 15 girls and several 7+ but by this time they were peaking in business (after 4 pm) and ran out of rooms!? So I left again and went to Miruna which is close by and had a tall morena for 250 an hour.

It was Friday so I knew I wasnt done yet, Cararao being budget friendly I decided to go there after going back to my hotel to literally recharge. Casarao had most of the same girls from previous night and I chose another tall petite morena who wanted to get bitey..

Some of the girls at Casarao seemed pretty firmly set at 500 but once you've let them understand the whitest girl in the club went for 400 you've got them beat. Rooms at Casarao also have radios that are Bluetooth capable if you want to play your music.

This is an exciting news to me. I happen to like a couple of places one of the new owners has. I think it will be very good if they can manage this place like the other properties.
