Fair point. But note that this number was reported for the state, not the metropolitan area (which has about half the state's population).

I don't think the numbers are very surprising, even the local news reported close to 700 deaths a week ago, and things are surely getting worse.

Due to C-19 the place was maybe at 25% capacity. You can negotiate a damn good price. The staff was bending over backward to get you whatever you wanted and not to mention being super, super, super friendly (had I not brought a date I'd of been trying to do the maid! We stayed 4 days, at check out they gave us a voucher for first / last day free on our next visit of 6 days+ within a year. What a country!

Connections which was open till 4 am last week Monday till Thursday got closed down last night before 22.00, they have now said they will close at 20.00. Tangara have also changed closing time to 20.00, a lot less girls on the roaster today then yesterday or last week. Police taking things seriously this time around. Scandallo girls told me some girls in Connection go for 200 R so they ask no more than 500 R when they usually get more at Scandallo. They may go for less since things are tight, many girls that work at Scandallo have monthly bills of 10 k or more a month.
