Everyone, please bare with me, I'm more of a mathematician than a cunning linguistic!

I tweaked the map of Sao Paulo (courtesy of World Traveler) and added different groups / icons for Clinicas, Boates (not sure if this differs from "Clubs" Clubs, Swinger Clubs, Prives, Love Hotels, Other, Hotels / Neighborhoods / Airports). What I don't like about Google My Maps is the integration with Google Maps for directions, which sucks!. I thought it'd integrate just fine, but it doesn't, it almost defeats the purpose of why I updated the map. I'm slowly moving these things over to Google Maps, which sucks because you don't have visible groupings with individual icons.

I feel the map could use some more input / updates as for as:

1) Girl Friendly Hotels, I know it's listed in this forum, just haven't gone through, and include with notes if they charge more, etc.

2) Girl Friendly AirBnbs.

3) Maybe Sub Groups in the areas, High / Mid / Low, recent ratings, number of reviews, etc. (lots to maintain).

Since reading all the posts here it seems like Brazil is a buyers market where there is room to negotiate given the economics of the country. I'm seeing so far the $400-$600 range is where you expect good service and if you pay more you're looking for something specific or you're being taken (for 1 HR time period that is) if you pay less like $100-$250 you will most likely get bait and switch and get quick rushed sex. The worse.

I am planning a trip in the spring and debating between Grand Hyatt and Renaissance. After hearing your story, I might just pay the premium and stay at the Renaissance. It almost sounds like they were trying to take advantage of you as they knew she was a pro. This is the first time I've ever heard of where someone books double occupancy rate room. And charge a guest fee for the 2nd guest.

Are you sure you paid the double occupancy rate? Also, is this the first "guest" you had come up? It sounds like you didn't go down to meet her. I also presume you met her in the evening. Just curious whether there were other mitigating circumstances or they just made shit up to take advantage of a monger.

It's been my experience that it's always best to get cash from atms at airports as soon as you land. As long as you select local currency, it'll be the current exchange rate. Just make sure to use a card without fx fees and no ATM fees. Using a hotel is rarely a good route to take. With all that said, was shocked they wanted to charge you 10%.

Yes I paid for two guest. The extra guest made the room like $12 USD more so I figured that's not bad all things considered. Surprised me too. She was the first and only guest as I had booked only one night and it was hard getting a hold of any other girl plus it was getting late. There was a lot of families staying at the hotel I noticed so I think they charge a fee so it discourages people to bring girls into their room. I am not sure why the hoopla over the exchange rates the local banks give. When you use an ATM in a foreign country including Brazil, never take the offer for the local bank to convert. Always take the Reals offer and let your bank do the conversion. You should get very close to the spot rate. They present the message on the ATM in a confusing way to try to get you to take the local conversion so read carefully.

My only other advice is that I found ATMs at hotels in Brasil to be rare compared to US and Europe where every hotel has one. Just plan slightly ahead and go to a local Brasil bank to start your day and do the withdrawal. Because a) your hotel might not have one and b) The bank ATMs are not open 24 x7 like the US. They close at like 3!or something.

At least this was my experience. YMMV.

Actually most of the branches of Bradesco and Santander, the two I frequent most for ATM withdrawals are situated in foyer of bank such that they are accessible 24 hours while rest of bank is inaccessible. However, I recommend using them during daylight hours.

My strategy when I go to Fkks in Germany is to use my US Bank (worst bank) debit card and Charles Schwab debit card on the first day, and pull out as much as possible, then I switch to the Schwab card and pull out everyday until I think I have enough. If I feel I'm running low or run into an issue, I'll repeat day 1 (use both debit cards).
