Hey Steve, How you doing?

Like everyone else I am just waiting around, watching the new virus case numbers, and wondering which countries are going to open up first. Brazil seems to be having a bad stretch at the moment. I hope they get a handle on things soon. It would be great to visit Sao Paulo again in November. I am looking forward to meeting a lot of pretty girls there. I know Scandallo is one of your favorite places. It is on the top of my list of places to go.

Of all the forums Medellin remains most active and it sounds like the situation will ameliorate before Brazil. Remember Lew Ashby? He was killing it in Medellin and the girls are amazing and like $20-50. It's unreal. I've not been but want to go.

Hey Natty. Recognize you from the Thai forums. Welcome. Yes nice hotels are girl friendly no problem. They do have to register at the front desk just like Thailand. But it's all cool. That said you really should enjoy the clubs like Scandallo and BomBoa. They have short time hotel attached right on the premises. It's nice. It's not an ST hotel like Thailand it's a nice upscale room.

Hi Dear, I used Mercure Jardins hotel near paulista Avenue (it is at the corner from of Rua De Agusta). It is girl friendly and I stayed twice without any issues.

Thanks, Melman. I have stayed at the Grand Mercure Harmoni in Jakarta, so I am familiar with the brand. Good choice. The Grand Mercure Harmoni Jakarta has it's own in-house bordello (massage parlor). It was always very convenient to bring girls up to my room for little afternoon entertainment.

Hey Guys, I suppose you can file this post under stupid questions, but here goes anyway: It has been 20 years since I last visited Brazil. I used to travel to SA (Colombia, Brazil) all the time in the '90's. With the Corona BS going on it looks like I might not be allowed to go on my mid summer 2.53 month Thai / Indonesia trip and if I can't go to Asia from mid August to the end of October I won't be able to go there at all in 2020. I know Brazil is on currently on hold too, but should the country reopen by the Fall I would be very interested in flying down for a quicky 2 to 3 week Sao Paulo fix - I mean holiday visit. LOL.

I know where to find the girls. That's not a problem. And I think it will be fun rediscovering the town. My dumb ass question concerns what SP Hotels are Guest Friendly? I have searched the internet and strangely can't find the answer. Is it all, some, or a few? I prefer 4* & 5* hotels relatively close to the action with sunny outdoor swimming pools.

Go for Sao Paulo. Warmer people and more selection of women. Traffic and crime may be worse, but if that's not an issue I'd choose Sao Paulo. But I am biased being Brazilian and used to live in Sao Paulo. I've been to BA before though.

Not sure what you mean by Muribo though. You mean Morumbi? If I were to live anywhere it would probably be Moema near Parque Ibirapuera. But you'd probably have to live in an apartment.

I have already been in Parana, Santos, RJ, SP. In Argentina I've been in BS. As, Rosario, Saint Nicolas, San Lorenzo. Brazilian people are more decent and friendly. Even Brazilian hookers are more decent than Argentine. Yes indeed I meant Morumbi or Jardins.

I have lived and worked in both Sampa (in Jardins) and BS. As (Recoleta). I find Brazilians to be much warmer and helpful unlike Argentinians, who are petty and borderline racists. BS. As. Is a beautiful city, the city has great architecture and excellent food, steaks and Italian cuisine, probably the best outside Italy. It is equally dangerous to one's personal safety, I have lived and worked on 4 continents and BS. As was the only place I had the privilege of being mugged in broad daylight in Recoleta, so safety wise it is no better than Sampa. Finally, women, nothing to beat Brasileras specially in Sampa.

Maybe I'm oversimplifying it, but why is it difficult to have Euros and Dollars? I'm not sure what you are trying to do. You can't really walk around and use US Dollars in most of your day to day transactions. Like many middle and upper class people in South America, you hold money in an account abroad and access the money via an ATM or use a credit card linked to the account.

Yes I have considered Rio as an option and RJ it is very beautiful but I think SP suits me better. Keep in mind that it has Scandalo. There is a ridiculous limit when you withdraw money in BsAs from an ATM. If anyone lives in BsAs let us know the daily limit for withdrawals and you never know what will happen in BsAs the next morning due to financial reasons.

It's interesting you say this because the last time I was in Rio, I remember thinking to myself as the taxi took me from the airport to my hotel, "Man! I can't believe I actually thought about retiring in this dump"! For whatever reason, at that very moment in time, Rio as a place to live for me lost its appeal. Maybe it was just my mood at the time, which wasn't being helped by the persistent, rainy, overcast weather. Or the dirty, chipped, and cracked sidewalks all over Copa. The smell of the sewer everywhere I went. Buildings looking kind of shabby and run down, and my room at the hotel not being up to par in terms of what I expected (based on what I read here about the place). And the action and energy in the termas nothing like when I first visited them. I don't know. Rio will always, always, always be a special place to me. But, at this point in my life, I would not choose to live there long term. If I were going to live long term in Brazil, I would pick some other city in the south, and go to Rio for vacations. Would I pick Rio over BA? Yes, because I would be choosing Brazil over Argentina, which is what I prefer.

None. I am going to learn one of them when I get there. In Sao Paulo I want to build a house in Muribo and in BsAs I want to build a house in San Isidro. In the beginning I will go with pros but in the long-term I would prefer to have a girlfriend for a long-term relationship without marriage and kids. Unfortunately I think that there are not so many pros in BsAs only some escorts from websites. The are two things that I don't like on each place. In Sao Paulo they don't speak Spanish so I am going to have to learn Portuguese and Spanish as well if I want to travel to other countries as well. In BsAs there aren't any termos or clubs like Scandalo, the economy sucks and I am going to have to figure out a way to always have cash in Euro or Dollars while in Sao Paulo I think it is more easy.

I have been to countries in Europe and South America during football matches and nothing can compare to Buenos Aires, Argentina. I had left my hotel for a walk one Sunday just before a football match between Boca Juniors and Riverplate and the scene was incredible; there were buses moving through the city with as many guys hanging on on the outside as inside, the din was unbelievable, there were tanks and other military vehicles on the streets, I was the only pedestrian and beat a hasty retreat back to my hotel. I have been to football clashes in Rio and SP and it was nothing like that.

I agree with this much. But for me, at the end of the day, it's the people who make a place what it is, and I prefer hanging around Brazilians versus their neighbors to the south. Sao Paulo isn't the prettiest city, but it has its "pockets" LOL! And I have always liked mongering in Brazil better than Argentina, so Sao Paulo would be the easy pick for me between the two choices. Given other options, I would look at Curitiba and Florianopolis. Brasil 🇧🇷 in general I'd choose easily over Argentina.

Like you say, mostly for the people, however, I truly enjoy my time in both SP and Rio!
