Day-1:

Clinic Prime:

First day evening I walked to Prime Clinic. Woman at the counter greeted me in Portuguese. I asked if she speaks English. She said no. I proceeded and sat on one of the couches. Very high ceilings (50+ feet maybe), very loud music with live band, bar stretching almost the length of huge main lounge, and elegantly dressed gorgeous girls every where wiggling their butts. Club was packed with men and girls. I would visit this club and pay the entrance, if not for anything else, just for the experience and to enjoy limitless eye-candy.

This by far the swankiest club I have visited in Brazil, NA and Europe. It was very luxurious in every respect.

There is an outdoor area with its own bar. Part of this outside area was covered and most of it open air with part garden. One could spend time in this area when tired of load music inside. Of course there were plenty of girls in this area too.

It is hard to tell but there were at least 150+ girls on this night. Lot of them were beautiful. The optics of girls are noticeably much much lower than Scandallo. There are pretty ones here and there if you search the entire club. Most of the girls were run-of-the-mill you would typically find in German FKKs.

I spent 2 hours with out even realizing looking for someone to room with. During this time I made a note the very few pretty ones in the club never to picked up. They kept hustling a man before moving to another. I didn't think much of it at that time maybe because of all the scotch I have been consuming that night. As I was preparing to leave I saw one of the prettier girls who I have seen few time during my time in club (one of those never got picked up). I hoped she spoke English but she didn't. Then I go down to the countered where I checked-in to enter club. Same routine. I asked the person to get someone who speaks English. They present one older guy. I explained what happened what happened but the person kept saying nothing can be done without know who the girl is and her side of the story. Right that moment the girl just walk in. I showed her to the guy who spoke English. She says few Portuguese words and walks into club. The English speaking guy told me what she said settled the issue and nothing can be done. I asked him what she said to which I got no answer. My guess was she reminded him of his cut. I got stubborn and decided to see what other BS the club management would throw at me. I just wanted see if the problem is systemic or not. If it is systemic then I know I should never visit Casarao again. For me it was a lose of about $65, not a bit deal.

On the other end of the main check-in desk there is another desk with a person in suite. Unfortunately he didn't speak English either. But I pestered him a bit so he could get some to bridge the language gap. Some tall chap appeared and kept she could do little without knowing who the girl was (remember this is 2nd person repeating same mantra). Then I used my app to ask the person in suite if he is the owner or an employee to care the clubs reputation being ruined by these scammers. He happened to be one of the club managers. Why would he care?. Eventually the tall individual repeated said Sorry for what happened and he was helpless. I saw outside, it may be about 5:30 am, first light is breaking as a sign of brighter things to come. I ordered Uber and got back to hotel.

I was disappointed the night ended disastrously. I will take $65 lessons any day. I just hope to avoid the ones that cost $300+. But I was glad it was an inexpensive lesson to wake me up so I can raise my guards up.

My 6 night trip to SP and Foz do Igurzu.

Airport to hotel:

I arrived in Sao Paulo's GRU airport. I exited arrivals building by walking through sliding glass door and went to second platform / side walk after crossing 2 sets of traffic lanes. Using Uber app I requested a ride. I never used Uber prior to this trip. I installed the app and setup the account prior to arriving in Brazil. My ride arrived in few minutes and took me to my hotel in Moemo. Airport to Moemo usually takes and hour but my ride took close to 2 hours because of heavy morning rush hour traffic.

I got to a different location of terminal when I arrived GRU by a domestic flight from Foz do Iguazu. Finding Uber stand is much easier outside arrivals building. After exiting arrivals, crossed first set of traffic lanes to take Uber. There is a big User sign there in case if you wondering where the Uber stand is.

Accommodation:

I stayed in Moemo. I could have stayed in any hotel in the area as I had no plans to bring any guests. But I stayed in 2 hotels that were frequently mentioned in the forum by other members.

I stayed one of the superior apartments in Mercure So Paulo Moema Times Square Hotel for couple of nights. The room I stayed was clean, very roomy and with decent size bath room with big shower. As other members had indicated the hotel room walls are very thin almost like they didn't exist. I could hear all the traffic, airplane and nearby loud construction noises. I read some reviews complaining about bad rooms which concerned me a bit. Thanks Nordico who generously reached out to me and suggested to take superior apartment.

Other hotel I stayed was Bourbon Convention Ibirapuera, which is right next to Ibirapuera mall. The room I stayed felt like sound proofed. I did't hear any traffic or airplane noise even tough the planes flew very low almost touching hotel building. Bathroom was small especially Shower.

Local transport:

I used Uber for all of my local transport need in SP as well as in Foz do Iguazu. It was very convenient, safe and inexpensive.

Safety:

I was bit concerned about safety before the visit. Accordingly I was selective in things I did and places I visited. In general Moemo area, in and around Av. Ibirapuera, seemed very safe during day and night. I walked to Prime and Abbobora clinics. The only other clinic I visited was Tangara to which I Ubered.

Restaurants:

There are many restaurants in Moemo area. Ibirapuera mall has a big food count with tons of options in cuisine.

Convenience stores / coffee shops:

I saw at least one supermarket for every few blocks. There are few Starbucks in the area.

Banks and ATM:

There are plenty of options in Moemo. I used only Bradesco bank locations in Moemo based one the posts by Rovnak.

Language / Communication:

Only places I could consistently find individuals spoke English were in Hotel registration desks. I speak no Portuguese, so it was difficult to converse with people I needed to communicate / interact with. Translate apps on my mobile phone definitely helped getting point across. Translate app is a must for those who lack Portuguese language skills. Make sure you download the language for offline use so the app can be used without WiFi / internet connection.

People interaction:

All interactions with Brazilians very pleasant except for the scumbags boate Casarao employees I dealt with (details in part-2 of the trip report). People I interacted with, except the exception I indicated before, always had smile on their face which made dealing with them nice, inviting and pleasant. In spite of the language barrier people were very helpful.

Sightseeing:

I didn't do any in SP. My afternoons were spent walking to various clinics in Moemo area to get health checkups to make sure my liver in good condition after all the drinking I did in boates during previous night (LOL). You know, you have to be very careful not to get too sick in a foreign country. SP had me covered with ideally located clinics.

I did visit Foz do Iguazu. I spent 2 nights, visited Iguazu falls from Brazilian as well as Argentinian side. I have never seen so many waterfalls in one area. The views from both countries were spectacular. I did do boat rides on both sides (Brazil and Argentina). Boat rides from both sides are similar for most part except the Argentina side is way better. Argentina side boat ride covered all the falls Brazilian side boat ride did plus the boat went under (as close as they can without capsizing the boat) one of the bigger water falls, which was amazing. If you can do only one boat ride then just do Argentinian side.

Devils throat is breath taking. You can view it only from Argentinian side, not from Brazil.

I thought 2 days was enough to cover both sides. Yes it is, if one want to hit main trails and take photographs from view points along way. For most part I was focused on taking photos than enjoying unique and spectacular scenery. Also there are many trails I had no time to take to view the falls from different angles. In hindsight I wish I had stayed 2 more nights.

Hey, I'm thinking of checking out the Sao Paulo scene for the first time. I've never hired a woman before so I'm completely new to this. Exit the terminal and turn left and follow the sidewalk. After a short walk, you will come across a big bus stop sign that has the bus number 257 with the destination Tatuape Metro Station. Price of ticket is R6. 45. I think there is a bus every 20 or so minutes. The bus will drop you right in front of Tatuape metro station. From there you can the take the metro for R4. 30 and get to you final destination. The bus is very safe and both times the bus was full of passengers.

Funny, that's exactly how I get to and from the airport. Even better if you have a night flight out, you can metro to Tatuape Metro and there is a love motel Messalina about 50 yards behind the 257 stop. So you can spend 4 hours there for R85 and order in a girl and then walk across the street to the bus and be at the airport 40 minutes later.
