What is the nearest beach to Sao Paulo city? The best beach to surf. What is the transport fee? More or less? How long? Any website or any info will be appreciated.

Since I came to Sao Paulo, I miss the beach in Rio de Janeiro, That's the only thing I miss.

The nearest beaches are in Santos, but the best ones for surfing are in Guaruja.

Nearest beach and best beach for surfing and nicest beach etc unfortunately don't all come together. For surfing and nice atmosphere, Sao Sebastiao area has beaches like Ubatuba, Maresias and Camburi. Itamambuca is also goood for surfing. Better to rent a car to get there. Drive depends on traffic etc but these are popular weekend beaches for more well to do Paulistas.

Lose to Santo is Bertioga which you can get to by bus in 90 minutes. Sao Lourenco beach is not bad for surfing and on the nicer side for the area.

Maresias etc is nicer but farther. Bertioga is closer and a more urban area. Maresias can be dead off season and during the week. But it is great over the summer.

Does anyone know if clinics or Scandallo will be open on Oct 11,12 and 13? I was told the 12 is a big holiday and everything closes and people take Friday off for a long weekend so not sure if there will be any places avopen or have talent on the Wednesday night before the holiday, Thursday and or Friday? Appreciate any insight from those who would know as I might have to change travel plans accordingly.

Thanks for the feeback on my SP questions. I decided to "import" (or export I guess) one of my amigas coloridas from Rio for Saturday night / Sunday. But I'll still have Friday afternoon / night and Saturday day free, so I'll figure out where I can go and report back after the deed (s)! Trip isn't for nother 5-6 weeks.

Besides eat at good restaurants and smoke a cigar? I'd suggest the jockey club. The ponies are still running. Sunday on Paulista has a good crowd if you want to people watch while listening to competing musicians and navigating sidewalk vendors. Maybe you'll see quadriplegic Elvis. This is the spot for getting your Zumba on in public. JK Iguatemi mall is a good place to take on a matinee. VIP seats recline and there is food and drink service. Sadly, much of Paulista life seems to take place in shopping centers. There are card rooms if you want to play poker. You can also find microbreweries around. For other entertainment check guiadesemana website for your dates.

I went with a friend last night and we got there at 11 pm. We went upstairs and the girl to guy ratio was literally 0-to-15. The guys were just sitting around playing pool and chatting with each other. Fefao looked half dead from all the excitement in the boate. Ha. We walked around for about 3 minutes and then went downstairs and asked Julia the receptionist if there were any girls. She said that they all had already left. The list had all names crossed out and it had about 12 girls on it. This place seems to be a total joke.

As for things to do during the day. Stay inside as it seems to rain every damn day! Ha. Maybe someone else here can chime in on what there is to do during the day here if you don't work. The only thing that I can think of is go to the mall and stare at or creep on young nubile girls walking around.
