I've got a business trip to SP coming up in a couple of months and wanted to take a weekend trip to beach. Is Santos safe, a fun place to be? What's the freelance / P4 P options there? I don't seem to find info on Santos or another nearby beach destination on here. Or it might be safer bet to fly to Rio? Any ideas are welcome, thank you.

2015-08-14: Nineteen people were killed and seven injured overnight in a wave of shootings in Brazil's biggest city, Sao Paulo, some of them gunned down in cold blood as they sat in a bar. Alexandre de Moraes, head of the Sao Paulo state security department, announced Friday what he said was still a preliminary total after media reports of a deliberate massacre in the suburbs -- possibly by rogue police. The murders were shocking even in a country used to runaway violence. "What I can say for sure is that it's the biggest killing this year," de Moraes said. Globo News television broadcast security camera footage of one attack, showing a group of masked assailants entering a bar, ordering clients to raise their hands in the air, then shooting them. Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper quoted witnesses saying that the killers stopped their targets and questioned them about their criminal records, then executed them. Earlier, a spokesman for the security forces had described the wave of killings late Thursday as "unusual. " The shootings occurred in the Osasco, Barueri and Itapevi areas, reportedly all in a period of about two and a half hours. The mayor of Osasco, Jorge Lapas, said video footage supports a theory that the killings could have been reprisals for the earlier death of a police officer. "We want to take measures so that the situation does not worsen over the coming days," he said. De Moraes said investigators are analyzing spent cartridges to establish whether the shooters were from "a single group" and all used the same weapons. He said a police link had not been ruled out. One of the theories being considered was a "possible connection to two robberies, one of which took place last Friday when a military police officer was murdered and another where a civil guard died. " Both those killings took place in the neighborhoods where Thursday's mass shootings occurred. Investigators are also looking into possible drug-trade connections. De Moraes said he was "sure that the police will solve it quickly. ".

I, respectfully disagree. A $50 Timex or Casio watch, is not the same as a $1000 Citizen or Seiko. It most certainly is not the same as a Rolex. Yes, they all tell time.

I mean there is little in terms of offer, people either buy very cheap or high-end luxury, the value for money providers that we all claim to prefer it is the first out of the market once people start talking with their wallets.

BTW There are plenty of places in Spain I would advise you not to enter because of the issues I mentioned. I have seen really bad in Istanbul. That Brazil seems to offer a more honest approach in spite of all the issues here with crime is nothing short of amazing!

Also I think some people are underestimating how dumb some tourists can be. I remember a truly embarrassing situation in Na Kombi with a group of American tourists, one of them was especially noisy, rude, annoying. I was there with my namorada, and the waiter moved out to a different table (it may have helped that we were taking the sushi down with some bubbly, making for a hefty bill)

I can see this people getting into troubles quite easily.If ABG prevents that from happening he is certainly earning his pay.

... And when no one can be a wing man they might feel like there are no other option than to pay for a tour guide. I've seen plenty of tour guide offers all over this board which I'm fine with. But its not cool to take advantage of the situation of the other person if they ask about clubs or clash with people posting about clubs.

Hey amigo, you make some nice reports and I thank you for that.

You, however, obviously have a beef with ABG.

I know the guy, he helped me out when I was new to SP, as a matter of fact, he still helps me out here and there with some tips, he's a native.

He personally does not like the club and boate scene. It's not his thing.

He still takes clients there though, if they wish.

He may come accross as harsh about clubs, but some of that is due to his english, though very good, not perfect.

He's a good dude.
