Transportation: Most Cental / South American cities have frequent airport buses that are literally 5% or less than the cost of a taxi. San Jose is no exception. The bus picks-up and drops off on the main road directly in front of the airport. I don't know the exact cost. I gave 2 mil and got a lot of change. I think it was 400 colons. The San Jose pick-up / drop-off is on Ave 2 between calle 12 and 14. It's about a 15 minute walk along Central from the Del Rey hotel. The buses I took were direct and took exactly the same time as a taxi would have.

Hotel: Stayed at Morazon. It's a great deal. $39 per night if booked online. They would not give me that rate when I tried to extend in-person. Free breakfast, $50 match-play coupon, sportsbook on second floor, and no girl-fee. After visiting Sportsman, I think that's a great destination too. It just depends on whether you want to be away from the inner city chilling out at a nice sports bar (Sportsmen) or near the casinos and nightlife of Del Rey / Key Largo.

Poker: Played at Del Rey and the games were fairly easy. They have nice bonuses for hitting quads and bad beats. I hit quad 10's and they gave $100 bonus. Just remember, if you hit quads, don't force everyone out of the hand or you won't get the bonus.

Del Rey: Too hardcore and mindless for me. Every conversation started the same. What is your name? Vacation or business? Where are you from? Where are you staying? Same four questions every time. I was tempted to hand them a flash card that had the answers. The few 9's were way too full of themselves. The only success I had here was to find a 6 with the right attitude. 7's and higher seemed to have questionable personalities to me.

Pirate Club: Nice place, but the women there on Friday from 5:00pm-7:00pm were all 6's and below. It took 30 minutes to get there due to traffic. It was a big waste of time for me. If I were to go again, I would go there after 8:00pm to avoid the ridiculous traffic.

Fantasy: I went during the day. There was a nice selection there. There was a large group of obnoxious drunk Americans there so I decided to leave.

Night Clubs: I was taken to an area on the edge of town that had 3 strip clubs in a row. I didn't see any names for the clubs, just a sign that said 'Night Club'. There were some nice women in there. The drinks were a little expensive, but overall it was a nice time. They are full nude.

Taxis: Mostly fine. I got ripped off twice. First, got charged 5 mil to go to the Strip Clubs just at the edge of town. It was only 2. 5 mil coming back. Second, I grabbed a taxi and told him to go to Little Havana. I'the never been there. He dropped me off at some hotel and said it was Havana. After I paid, he drove off quickly only to find this hotel was far from Havana and didn't even have a similar name.

Sportsmen: Very nice bar, lively, low pressure. I came with a girl and couldn't shake her, so I didn't get a chance to speak to the other women. For me, it was the best place to hang-out.

Airport: The fastest entry / exit for any international airport I've been to. Maybe I just got lucky.

Food: Maybe the worst of any large city I've been to. The meats are just not very good. Their food does not have much flavor. Everyone says the fish is good, but I didn't try. I basically survived on rice / beans and Wendy's.

San Jose: This is probably my last trip here. I've been 3 times and I've never had a really bad time, yet never had a really good time. I will say, if you plan well, you can make it a very affordable trip (Spirit Air, Morazon Hotel, Bus to / from Airport, etc). My 3-day trip including air / hotel / car / food / girls was around $600.

My next destination: I have no clue. I'm burned out on the Latin America scene. Is there a small (or large) town in Latin America that's been unaffected by visitors and has a mongering scene? I have a feeling the Philippines is still good, I just don't think I can find the time to go all the way over there.

Both will run hot an cold. You have to remember, hookers are not the most stable employees / business people. Keeping stable talent in this industry is tricky.

That being said, the Pirate Club has a few hotties lately. They have a few notties as well, but nobody's perfect. The SL has its moments, and many others in between. You can find some nuggets in the rocks there if you're lucky.

I got back last week from my trip to San Jose. I have been going on and off to CR since the mid 90's. I just spent 5 nights / 6 days during this last trip. In my humble opinion. This was the worse line up of women I have ever seen at the Del Rey. There are a couple of nice looking stunners, and a few cute / pretty one's, and alot of avarage one's, and many dogs. Again, this is just in comparison to all of my other previous trips (Between 12-15 trips in total). I am specifically speaking of Del Rey and Key Largo. Many of the hot colombiana stunners were not there.

Out of the five nights I was there, I only took one gal, and she was a young cute panamian gal. Thats all I took out in five nights at the Del Rey. Again, just comparing to previous trips. There is still fun to be had, but even though there are many choices, quality has dropped. I am not going to get into the reasons why many stunners are not there, but the bottom line is that there are few compared to the past. There has laways been a night or two when things are very slow or few stunners. However, this time it was during all 5 nights in a row were I was not impressed with the talent as I am accustomed to at the Del Rey.

Also, I noticed that the girls were much more aggressive during my last trip. Tapping me on the shoulder and saying "Vamonos" without even chatting or consulting. Asking for drinks from the get go. Particularly, the Dominicans were just a pain in the ass with bad attitudes. One last point. There have always been a couple of overweight lovers who are in there lloking for a cuntomer, but there were quite a few more this time around.

Again, there are still fun times to be had, but you have to reaaly do your homework and show apply lots of patience to be able to get a beautiful gal for the right price and good service. I just ended up taking advantage of the day time massage places. The are not many stunners, but at least I got good service. I will go back to CR one day, but I am really in no hurry after this trip. For the record, a few other gentlemen I met and spoke to on this trip had the same common opinions as I did.

I am not discouraging anyone to go. I am just saying that the quality has dropped for now. Hopefully, its just a hickup, and things will improve.

I did not have a problem getting DATY from all the girls I took. Many were wanting 100 but I refused to pay that price. Later that same night or the next night everyone who who would not budge off of 100 were all happy to accept 80. It is a buyers market. Don't over pay these girls are desprite for business. Even had one offer up her culo for 80 if I would agree to take her a second time.

He gladly accepted $20 to Hotel Morazon. This hotel was a nice surprise for me. At $39 per night, I wasn't expecting much. Very fast check-in with beautiful receptionist plus a $50 match play coupon (I won, so that more than paid for the night). The room is simple, but clean. I thought the bed was comfotable. Hot water, AC, good WIFI, great location, what more could you ask for. Sportsbook on second floor for those that bet. Good-enough free breakfast too.

I headed to Del Rey around 8:00pm. The girls were just starting to come-in. They were very beautiful, but in the end, I was quite frustrated. I've never had a girl refuse DATY for $, but it happened twice last night. They were beautiful, but still. In US clubs that have private VIPs, in my experience, all women jump at the chance to make $ for DATY. Also, I spoke with ZERO Colombians. I spoke with about 10 Ticas. 3 Dominican, and 2 Nicas. What the hell happened to the Colombians? I'll bet they are all going to Medellin since that has become a huge destination. Or maybe their economy is doing well. Anyway, after the girls refused DATY, I left for Key Largo. Not much there for me. I went back to my room. It wasn't all bad though, I did end up with $300 more than I started with (1 blackjack hand for match play. 30 minutes of poker at Del Rey, and 2/2 on NBA bets).

In the last week I found 2 ladies on separate nights to go TLN for $150 and they were good looking, but not stunners. I had to talk with a lot of ladies to find them. On my last trip this month I was surprised to see that girls from Nicaragua out numbered the ones from Colombia. To me this was not a bad thing as in general the Nicas are hot as firecrackers. Looks like you ran into one of the bad ones.

I'm told a lot of the Colombianas have instead of going to San Jose they are working the internet via the dating services. They not only don't have to leave their familys, and sometimes get a few Western Union suckers that way.

Here's a stupidier question. Where do you get TLNs? The strip clubs don't seem to have door fee options. The girls at HDL ask for an insane amount of money. $300 for TLN quoted from a Colombiana (eventually talked down to $200) but she wasn't that hot and I could get a super hot one for that price in Colombia. Generally, girls will ask for $300 for TLN. Most will settle for $200. This has mostly to do with supply and demand. On a busy thurs / fri / sat night, the pretty girls can find a couple of gringos to pay $100 for a session during the course of the night. So they are not all that motivated to stick themselves into close quarters with an ugly old gringo if they can do a couple rounds instead and party with the money they've made.

Of course, much of this has to do with what you consider "an insane amount of money". In Cambodia or Laos, $300 a night is an insane amount of money. In Costa Rica, that threshold is twice that number. Just has to do with the local economy and frequent exposure to dumb gringos.

I'm used to around $100 for TLN in Latin countries so $300 is insane! However, it's good to know what they will settle for. I'll have to settle too if I have no choice.

2. It seems online sportbooks are legal there, but I couldn't locate a live sportsbook. Is there one in San Jose?

3. Does HLH or SL mind if I visit and take a girl out of their hotel without staying there?

If you are not leaving San Jose, there is no reason to have a car.

HLH is a Brothel, they don't allow their employees to leave the facility. The SL is a hotel / restaurant / bar. It has no business relationship with the girls, so you may leave with them.

Local currency can be useful. Most places don't accept $100 bills, other than that, most places take dollars.

1. GPS is not of much use in CR. Country is small and not all roads are on the map. If you are driving during daytime people are helpfull with directions. Nighttime is a problem. Do not bother to ask the girl if you have one with you. They do not know anything.

There is parking in front of Del ray. Do not know how much they charge nowadays. I have always rented a car with no issues. Have travelled length and breadth of CR.

2. I believe Del ray casino take sports bets.

3. All girls are freelancers. No problem.

4. If you want to save some money having local currency is good. Del ray-BM girls quote in dollars however massage places quote in colones.
