Blue Marlin is a good area to sit and chat. The girls usually ask you to but them a drink for the time to sit at a table and chat. Hotel Diana is more like a hostel, or a 1.25 star hotel. There is also a somewhat legitimate massage parlor in there. It is directly across from the park. I certainly would not stay there and less so if I wanted to bring chicas back. I mean, they might LET you bring chicas back, I don't know, but the chica would not be too impressed.

This was the preferred hourly rate hotel that a Tica walked me back to. She said the rooms were nice and clean for the $12 hour price. Much better than the $10 Hotel Asia around the corner from the Del Rey. The place was booked so I didn't get a chance to try it out. Just going on what she told me. I have a friend that gets the legit massage there and says it's a really good bargain for the money.

Stay at Scores. If it's about price check out Morazan (close to Del Rey. Has been a few years since I heard their pricing but it used to be $40. If you like hanging out at the Del Rey then you could consider staying there if Scores happens to close. I have been going to SJO for 8 years and this past week was my first time ever staying at HDR (2 of my 6 nights) because Scores was full my first two nights in town. But I have to say I really enjoyed the HDR. Two nights with a chica each night came out to $146 total. The other hobby-hotels not named Scores are $70+ per night anyway and I found the HDR to be very convenient and the rooms were surprisingly nice. They even have a few smaller rooms they rent for $55 tax included.

How did you swing this at $55 per night. I can't find a room rate at HDR under 104 plus tax. So 55 x2=110. So you got two chicas for $18 each. Hummm.

FWIW, I stayed there last week. Bar business seemed strong at times, quiet at other times. The rooms were almost full but that was a busy week right before Christmas. I heard they had a tough November. Their strategy of filling up the rooms at a low rate is probably not the best. I paid $30 per night which is too low. They are easily worth $40+, but that's their decision.

At any rate, if I were going back and needed a room I would stay there- tremendous value. What the future holds is anyone's guess but for now they are definitely open.
