CRT members reported the new "guest" fee was $15.00, not $25.00. Regardless, this new fee, whatever it is, has upset numerous affected members of our monger community and resulted in multiple reservation cancellations. I'd tell Taormina to shove this new policy where the sun don't shine and spend the rest of your stay at chica-friendly places such as the Sportsmens Lodge, Hotel Castillo or La Amistad, assuming, and hoping, you are not responsible for paying Taormina for the remainder of your stay. Used to love staying there, BTW, but a recent change in management is likely the cause of this policy change & might prove to be a major detriment to their bottom line. Idiotos!

Thanks for your reply and ideas. Last night I did bring back a hot Cubana from HDR and the night-desk-person stated the fee was $15, not $25 - who knows what they'll actually charge. Since I booked for 2 guests, I had my Cubana register as my guest so at least I didn't have to pay the fee for her, but will for any future guests. Would love to cancel, but I paid online with no refund. It is a nice place otherwise though.

Thanks for the info on casas / pensiones. I happened past one walking around (Malibu? The sign was worn-out) but will check out Monica's and one of the others you mentioned today if don't find a nice spinner at Monica's.

Just arrived for my first visit, read through a lot of SJ reports and booked at Taormina for a few nights. Unpleasant surprise at reception desk they told me that any guests have to register at the front desk and will incur a $25 charge! Pretty steep, I am now regretting my booking. They said the policy has only been in place for 2 weeks.

I'm wondering now if I'm better off going to casas / spas? Any opinions or ideas on this would be greatly appreciated. I've never been to such a place (only mongered in Cartagena) so I'm not totally sure what to expect. Do they line the ladies up? Are they just sitting around waiting for customers? Do I just turn around and walk out if I'm not interested in the goods?

Also I'm in town thru Monday, so if anyone is around please message me if you want to wing-man each other.

Re casas, do a bit of homework on this board & CRT. Generally, the ladies will be sitting around or walking around waiting for customers. You are ALWAYS entitled to walk out if not interested. Monicas, Relax, Oasis, 360 are a few of the options. Hotel Del Rey & Sportsmens Lodge for independents. Skokka cr for online escorts. Club Alcazar for a nice strip club with clean rooms to get laid on site.

Welcome to my struggles. The only and rather pathetic (but you can get a workout just don't try their treadmill from the 1950's upstairs) is called 'City Sports Centers' Gym. Two blocks walk from Taormina. Search for Al Masri restaurant, the gym is across the street from it on the corner. I think I paid $5 per day for use during my stay. It is diagonally located from Hotel Santo Tomas in case you have problem finding it. There is no water in the gym for drinking so take your own. No AC and two or three wall fans with signs 'NO TOCAR'. The lady who owns speaks English and is nice. The neanderthal that's at reception and is apparently a trainer from a bad Rocky movie -watch out for him. There is NO other options for gym in many miles around Barrio Amon. Trust me I checked.

I am staying for a month or so and plan to hit the massage parlors everyday. What do you guys think about staying in Barrio Escalante? I can't find any good longer term rooms near the Del Rey. Feel free to private message me. Or where do you suggest I stay for a month closer to the action?

Hotel Aranjuez apartments, I have stayed many times, the place is straight the place no bringing back girls, but close to sportsman, and Hotel Del Ray, they have a farmers market every Saturday morning in the park behind the hotel, like I said no girls brought back, they have a great breakfast.

Don't necessarily disagree with your conclusions re the San Jose mongering scene, but two nights at the Del Rey & a brief flirtation with skokka is an absurdly inadequate sample size to offer them.

I get your point and it's fair. But all I can do is report back given the trip / experience I had.

Should have mentioned I spent 3 nights in hdr, didn't pull anyone first night. Passed by sportsman lodge, wasn't a fan and checked a pension but quality was low. I guess I don't want to regurgitate same old answers and given I don't like MP.

Scene wanted to provide a different perspective.

I did my research before I went and have mongered around the world so I'm not new to the scene. As I said first impressions of San Jose are if it's the option you have then there are worse places but there is better in region.

Stayed in San Jose recently for a couple of nights. Mongered all over the world and due to currently proximity wanted to give it a try.

Pulled 2 girls out of HDR and one from Skokka. I normally like the bar vibe as you can talk with the women which increases the chance of assessing the vibe which helps guage the potential of a future hookup but also just enjoy socializing and meeting people.

I found personally the quality to be lower than places like panama, Colombia, Brazil. But then again your comparing to the best places in the region for the hobby. So I think most guys can find something they would be interested in, just not an abundance. I found myself looking around at HDR thinking who takes some of these women. Any way to each their own I guess.

So girl 1, I actually wouldn't have taken her but I was chatting to a guy I just met in HDR and her and her friend sat next to me and him. He was quite interested in the friend so thought I'd play wingman and keep her occupied. Not that she wasn't good looking just not my normal type. Unlike it's seems most of the forum I like more the voluptuous, enhanced Latina bomba and she was not as curvy as I would usually choose. Also she seemed to have a little bit of attitude but after a drink she loosened up and negotiated 50 k back at my place. I give her 50 K as was a good session and have no change anyway. So great conclusion to an OK trip.

For the prices they charge in San Jose for me I like other locations more. Plus the city is just OK but if it's your only option then hey you can do much worse but unlikely I will return.

Checked out some of the places recommended / mentioned on the forum. 360 had a very tall chica, not fat not thin, too tall for me but maybe I'll try just for fun. Krystal has a few disables, might go back; quoted $40/ hour. I think it's on Ave 7, Calle 2, not Ave 9 but maybe I misread the signs. Found Jet Set, terrible to my taste.
