Why would you want to CR to go strip club anyway. Never heard of cases they would hold you at gunpoint until you pay whatever were charge on your tap even through you didn't ordered. Don't be stupid people and stay away from strip clubs in CR unless you are actually stupid and newbie willing to pay a lot of money of getting the same result if were going to del Rey or Sportman.

Tango India is a complete rip-off, unless you don't mind spending $300-400 for a couple of drinks and a session. Danger, danger!

The nicest place is supposed to be Tango India VIP. Apparently very upscale, but it is far, near the airport.

If you hit any other strip club besides the Pantera, Grillon, or Alcasar, please post comments. How late at night did you go to Alcasar, and did you feel safe?

I've been to Alcazar twice in the last few weeks, and I highly recommend it. My rating: two erect thumbs up. Simply take a taxi to and from, and you have absolutely nothing to worry about safety-wise. I was really impressed with the male waiters, in that they were both helpful and not too pushy. Expect the ladies to come to your table, but you can easily send them away by politely telling them you'd like more time to peruse the "menu. " The main dancing area and restrooms are very clean and well-maintained, and, as Tiger Guy X described, the rooms are quite nice as well.

There is a 6,000 colones entry fee, but this gets you two cervezas or three shots of tequila. A thirty-minute session with any dancer you take a liking to costs 30,000 colones. Be sure to tip the waiters a 1,000 colones or so for each drink they bring to your table, and they will be more than happy to offer their recommendations and help secure the lady of your choice by bringing her over to your table. I gave Gustavo, a particularly friendly and knowledgeable waiter, an extra 2,000 colones for doing this. Don't waste your money buying the lady a 6,000 bebida that won't contain a drop of alcohol. I believe they will also spend 10 minutes or so at your table for 6,000 colones and allow you to talk with them and grope them a little bit, but I simply chose to save my colones for the trip to the room, which makes them the most money anyway, and they were happy to oblige. I sessioned with a very hot Nica flaca named Victoria and a cute tica named Karina. Both were excellent. Don't expect a BBBJ, but you might be able to get them to do this with the offer of a propina. I didn't care about this, although I'm normally a huge fan!

The ladies work an 8:30 pm to 4:30 am shift. I'd go any time between 10 and 2. The two times I was there, I believe I was the only gringo in the place, but I felt very welcomed. I was also somewhat surprised to see how often the ticos took the ladies up to the rooms. A lady you like could easily get taken away in a heartbeat.

I was recently in CR for work. It was a pretty last minute trip (I'd been given a 1 1/2 week notice) so I hadn't researched as much as I'd had done if it was farther out. Given it was a work trip I wasn't in any of the "fun" hotels and my hotel was a bit off the beaten path although it was a very nice, newer hotel, located in an area catering more to those visiting with family or on business.

6/17- hit up LaGrillion. Again I kept to my typical strip club demeanor of sampling quite a few dancers. Given how cheap it is compared to the states I didn't mind especially since the girl generally hung around for a few 4-5 songs which I got to feel them up the entire time for about the cost of 1 dance in the states. I actually liked the selection here better than Pantera Rosa. I ended up going with not the best looking chick in the place for my private session which was only like 17 K colons (I couldn't believe it myself), but something about her made me want to have her LOL. This was the chick Maria / Marianna or something of that nature. She definitely took care of me in the private room which was rather small, but it served it's purpose. Given her lack of English and my lack of Spanish there wasn't any talking between us.

This trip was pretty nice. If I'm lucky enough to go back on another work trip even if I'm staying at another hotel I'll probably just book some nights at HDR and go straight there after work. I must say I'm now hooked. Work or not I'll have to make another trip.

Of course here in CR unlike in the USA you know the girls are down for action which isn't guaranteed back in the states. I ended up going for this black Nicaraguan chick the lone one who seems to speak English in the place LOL. I don't recall exactly what I paid, but I do remember it being way too much. Even when she left to go on-stage and hadn't finished her drink once she was done she came back to finish it. Her English was pretty non-existent so no real talking between us. I know some light Spanish but definitely cannot carry on any sort of conversation. She did eventually bring up doing a private session saying sexio or something of that nature pointing at me then her goodies. I took her up on it which cost me 27 K colons I believe. The private area in this club is nice it's a full room, mirror on the ceiling, and with a full bathroom / shower. The action with this chick was absolutely excellent and the sex appeal she had on the floor carried over into our session. After I finished up she took a quick shower and then came back to the bed and cuddled up next to me as I basically felt and groped her for the remaining time LOL.

6/19 - this was my last night in town. I was going to do another nightclub, but at the last minute I decided what the hell I'll stop by HDR to see what all the hoopla is about. Holy shit! Can you say little kid in a toy or candy store. I knew I was in for a treat when just rolling up in the taxi I saw all sort of hot chicks coming and going. Needless to say once I walked inside I was even more blown away. This is the kind of thing you see in the movies or pornos LOL. It's like a little slice of heaven on earth for a guy LOL. I hate I didn't visit sooner in the week. Upon me grabbing a beer and a seat I was approached by two girls asking if I wanted a threesome. One of the girls was definitely one I was feeling and she spoke broken decent English, but not so much the other. I kept talking to the one and the other eventually disappeared. I wasn't planning to do anything here, but after spending a good 20+ minutes talking with this chick and looking at those ooh so lovely dick sucking lips I relented and got a room at the HRD since my hotel was a bit away. Ended up in CR as a result of a last minute decision. Stayed for a week. Arrived in HDR just after midnight on Monday. Place sucked big time, only about 25 chicks and not one do-able. Waited for an hour and half but there was no sign of even a half decent one so decided to sleep alone rather than throw away $$. Visited Delray everyday afterwards. Place has really slowed down to a crawl. The number of ladies during the day is all time low, mostly less than 10! Unbelievable indeed. However the eye candy factor went up significantly on Tuesday / Wed / Thursday during the day. Evenings were more busy but still there were many times when ratio of men to girls was overwhelmingly 3:1, something I have never seen before. Lots of Ticos are showing up these days esp. In the evenings. Thursday was the busiest evening in terms of girls, about 60-70 easily. Surprisingly the place sucked on Friday evening. May be just about 30-40 girls and they all looked horrible. And if Friday was the night of fuglies, Sat. Was Super Fuglies night. And very quite as well. Less than 40 ladies at peak time. Difficult to find even one that would make me jump. I sure am extremely picky but have never seen such low quality at delray. On one night I waited as long as 3 hours before spotting a good one. Only two girls said no to my offer of $50+$10 (propina).

Massage Parlours.

Visited 360/ Relax / Idem / New Fantasy and Monica's. Monica's is being managed by an American, Robert. Very nice guy. Similar to Relax. Had a VERY beautiful girl the first day I visited but talent was not so good each time I went afterwards. Quality and even quantity changed dramatically day to day basis, one day relax was hopeless, next time it had 2 do-able girls, one of whom was very pretty, talented and almost GFE. 360 was a big let down, girls like Ashley and Priscilla are no longer there. Still no a / see in most MPs, big mood killer. Showers are not a priority for girls so overall MPs are no match for relaxed fucking in the hotel with a Del Ray chica. Girls in all MPs try to upsell once you reach room and one in NF told me $10 for kissing and $20 for sucking tits. Yeah right. SL was pretty much dead everyday except on Thursday. Went once to Zona 2 around noon, had only 3 girls. Nothing fancied me.

Overall the decline in CR continues although some nice looking amateurs can still be found but one has to be prepared to wait for hours.

Ok guys. Just came back from a quick, first trip to the nightlife of San jose. Thanks for all the responses to my questions. There isn't really a good ROD summary for San Jose, so I thought I would post some thoughts that I would have wanted to know two weeks ago.

I chose to stay at the HDR, and it was a good idea. It gets said again and again, but HDR and Key Largo really are ground zero. It's not just the top venue, it is the ONLY reliable venue. I walked by Zona 2 on Friday night, and it was just closed. Scores right next door, was closed. I eyeballed IDEM and Relax, and both were not even worth talking about. In fact, I suspect that these other places are being hyped by people getting paid to.

Having stayed there for a long weekend, I would say that Thursday night is probably the best night. Friday and Saturday are more crowded and higher energy, but not better. Being that its already a high action place, I preferred it slightly subdued. The prettiest bartenders worked on Thursday. There was definitely no shortage of ladies. And many of the ladies, mostly single mom's, want the weekends with their kids, so the variety and quality of women was higher.

I would also disagree with most of the posters here and contend that HDR is the best place to stay. But before any of you start typing in a rage, let me just stipulate that we all have our budgets, and are well advised to stay within them. That being said, if your budget is within I would guess comprise 90% of guys, here is what I would say-- It is just more fun to stay there. Would you go to Vegas and stay at the Motel 6? No. You want to stay at Caesars. It puts you in the right mindset. The ladies love it for obvious reasons. Unless you are bringing up multiple guests day and night, just mentally add $20 to the cost of the room. It's still worth it when you consider that HDR is actually no more expensive than any other decent hotel in the area. Now if they raised their fee, or the cost of the room, I would reconsider. But as it is, I think it makes both fun and financial sense to stay there. Its not that HDR is so unbelieveably great. But its position in the nightlife scene is absolutely singular. So you have to look at the other options and ask yourself "is it worth NOT staying at HDR to stay here?" I never saw a place that came close.

At HDR, the advice I read here about staying in the 4th-6th floor is definitely true. The lower rooms are too loud. The cheapest rooms are $65, $75 after tax, but I would stay away from these. They are very small and look blatantly like "short time" rooms. The next notch up is $80, $90 after tax. These are the ones to get – real hotel rooms. Motel6 level, but definitely legit. And for incrementally more, there are more luxurious rooms.

I eyeballed the other hotels in the area. The only hotels that are truly next door are Morazon Hotel and Sleep Inn, which are literally one block away. Both are cheaper, about $70 after tax. The Morazon is too run down for my taste. The Sleep Inn was decent enough, roughly equivalent to the $90 HDR rooms. This would be a viable alternative, but I would still stay at HDR. HDR is probably THE most successful tourist venue in the city, of any kind. Because of that, you can expect a certain baseline service. For example, the taxi drivers to the airport WILL be reliable and not rip you off. If you reserve through HDR front desk, there is no way they will screw you and risk being blacklisted. The same can be said of anyone and everyone that works there, except for maybe the bartenders, who have a clout all their own.

All the other hotel venues mentioned on this forum, including Sportsmen's, are just too far. Not in absolute terms – its only a 5 -10 minute walk. But rather, its too far to justify not staying at HDR. I stopped by Sportsmen's on Th and FR night. Each time, just about a 10-15 ladies. I saw only one very pretty girl there. The rest were not worth mentioning. Otherwise, the scene was too subdued, and it all shuts down at midnite. That being said, the rooms are maybe a slight notch above HDR. The food is also better. Typical sports bar fair. If there was a big sporting event going on, I would go there to watch it and hang out. The Dunn Inn, another oft-mentioned hotel, is about the same distance away. It's a notch above in terms of room quality, but honestly still not good enough.

In terms of the ladies at HDR, I did meet one very charming young woman. But other than her, the ladies are very business like. Most will ask you to buy them a ladies drink inside of 60 seconds. "I know we just met, but buy me something. " I know its part of the game, but I HATE that and will always send them on their way. In terms of looks, I would rate them the best in Central America, but that's not saying much.

Just a couple of other tips. Several here have touted Diana's Inn as a cheap legit massage. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The "parlor" is a beat up old house, and the massage room is a storage closet with barely enough room for her to move around you. You go face down into one of those you-shaped travel neck pillows with no disposable wrapper. Who knows how many sweaty guys have stuck their face in that. The massage was mostly elbows. Even for $20 it sucked. Immediately after, I went straight to Sportsmen's, where they have a decent, entry level massage parlor. A one hour session for $50. It is the better deal, if just for the facilities.

Interestingly, decent inexpensive restaurants are surprisingly few. In fact, I was surprised at what meals cost. There is a basic platter of rice / beans, a choice of chicken / beef, and a small salad. This basic platter goes for about $6-7. Everything else starts at $12 and up, and may not be very good. The cheapest decent restaurant, or "soda", that I found nearby was Soda Peru. A slight notch up was La Critolla. Both were in the streets between HDR and Sportsmens, so a short walk. Every other meal that I had was shit.

The best exchange rate are at the banks, which was paying out 531 when I was there, but they are usually crowded. The best option is to go to the Bank of San Jose at the airport as soon as you arrive, one level up at the departure level. They pay the same rate, but without the lines. Just keep in mind that they close at 8 pm. Once you hit the HDR, best is to exchange money at the local supermarket. Mas x Mones, or something like that, is just 2-3 blocks southeast from HDR, and has a casa de cambio inside it with the same rate as the banks. And the bonus is, its super cheap for all the other things you want to buy: water, booze, toothpaste, and bottles of Lizano Salsa.

Alright fellas just came back from CR last week. Here is my report. Stayed at La Amistad for 4 night all inclusive. The meals and bar was amazing. Went to new fantasy the first day get some action. Only a few good talents. The Sportman lodge was super dead day or night. Figure it was Tuesday but came back Thursday during the basketball game GS vs Clev. LeBron James sucks the place is still dead. Hotel Del Rey was the only place to be. Sat at the table right in the center of the place with a buddy I came down with and watched for my target. Didn't see a lot of of good talents but it wasn't bad either. Same faces just keep walked back and forth between key largo. Finally found a tica, Costa Rican, 24 yo, made a deal with her for 2 hours back to my hotel. Wanted to get a drink from the bar at the hotel. Ordered this drink cost 8 colonies. WTF? Be careful about this too fellas. Make sure you watch what they order when you decide to stop at the bar. You are taking them back to fuck not on a date. But it was all good through, cause she was a good one. Got her pussy pierced. Fucked her all different positions for both hours. Was def worth the money. The next day stop at Zona 2, tried out the cigar, didn't see any good talents. Then head down to Monica. Was 7 girls there. Picked 1, cute face, good fuck for 12 k for 30 minutes. Repeat the same at night at Del Rey. Anyways fellas I had my good first experience there. But a few advice for the new guy never been to here yet- negotiate with the girl clearly before you take them back to your hotel. Once that door close and if you have anything different then you thought, it will be difficult to change depend on the girl too. And get whatapps on your phone most of the girl use that. If you like the girl and want to repeat then this is a good resource. Don't matter if you have your phone from US this shit work on any number.

Hi guys,

Hoping I could get some last minute advice for a last minute trip to SJ for this weekend. Trying to pick a hotel. I have only been to SJ once, five years ago, and don't remember much. Stayed at the HDR, at that time. I have read the forums back about 1. 5 years, but still can't get a clear picture. Disappointingly, no good ROD for some time.

Trying to decide between the most commonly mentioned options: HDR, La Amistad, Sportsman, and Zona 2.

The problem is, I don't have a good idea about how far things are. Are Sportsmans, La Amistad, and Zona 2 close enough that you can pick up a girl from HDR and walk back to your hotel? Somebody else asked this question, but the answer wasn't clear to me.

If possible, I want to take advantage of the Amistad free ride to Jaco. But it would also be nice to stay in a hotel with action at the bar, like the other 3. Reports on girl quality are all over the place, so I'll have to see for myself. Would like to avoid the $10 fee at HDR if possible.

Finally, the room descriptions at sportsman lodge talk about rooms in the "modern wing, courtyard, and clubhouse". Recommendations?

They all seem to cost $100/ night. I don't think that there is a price difference.

I would not stay at Zona II its not really a hotel any more but an MP that does have some of the hotel rooms left they can rent out. La Amistad does not have girls hanging out at the bar / restaurant unless you bring them in with you. But the Sportsmans does. La Amistad and Sportsmans are so close you could almost pick up a rock in front of the Amistad and throw it and hit the Sportsman. NO GIRL is going to walk from the Del ray to either the Sportsman or the Amistad and vice versa no girl from the Sportsman is going to walk back to the Del Ray with you. The way it works is you take a cab from either place. Its only a 3 to 5 minute cab ride at most between these two chica centers, the Ray and Sportsman. I'm in town now and will be for a few days if you want to meet up.

I have never been to San Jose, so take my comments with that in mind. After reading this thread, I saw that someone recommended the Hotel Morazon, just across the street from the Del Rey, as quieter, so I inquired about their chica status, and they charge nothing for the first woman ($25 if you bring 2). That seemed perfect to me, so I have booked a few nights there when I will pass through in July.

I'm here now, the place seems to be fine. Have brought up two different girls at two different times and have not had a problem. Good wifi complementary breakfast safe, clean quite (quitter than the sportsman) good location and decent price for SJ hotel rooms.
