I went to CR after 2 years and found that there is a creeping up of prices for the girls / food / hotels.

Taxis from the airport going from $25 to $30.

DelRey girls usually agreeing to $80 rather than $60 like in 2008.

Hotel Little Havana $50 / hour and New Fantasy $45 / hour.

Idem girls very nice looking $60 / hour and 42 for condom if you do not have your own.

Relax across the street $38 / hour and $20 / half hour.

Calle 6 houses around $20 / hour. Girl quality varies.

Girls at SL also want around $80 / hour.

These are my presonal experiences YMMV.

Good hotel deals at Sportsman and HLH if a CRT member. Get one day free stay if you stay 4 days. Check the CRT site.

Also avoid the Presidante Hotel it is not girl friendly any more. The New York Bar is closed and opened under another name. I do not know any thing about strip clubs but some people say The Pirate Club is interesting with Lezzy shows etc.

I hope I don't get spanked for posting this here. I know it's not a "report" but I want to hear from those who have been posting reports so I figured this is the best place. Let's say it's an invitation for a specific type report.

CR is still off the hook, son! I hope to get down there in October. Still lots of little Tico spots for about $20 with nice Colombianas and Nicas. Been getting more TLN down there from Key Largo.

Exit tax is $26 still and airport taxi costs have skyrocketed in my opinion. I have never had an issue using any of the pirate taxis outside, though I am sure many will disagree on using them. The price is always 5. 10 bucks cheaper though.

30, 000 colones for an hour at Hotel Little Havana.

30, 000 colones for an hour at New Fantasy.

Girls at both places will be all over you for tips.

If you know where IDEM is, Relax is across the street, white building, can't miss it. 18, 000 for an hour there and hit or miss on the chicas for sure.

No real issues regarding any sort of crackdowns, still chicas all over the place.

I am having "Costa Rica withdrawal symptoms". That's right. Usually I am able to go down to CR at least once a year, sometimes 2-3 times, but right now it's been about 3 years and I'm jonesing! I'm a long-time member here but just have not had time to pursue my "hobby" in the past few years.

What I want to know is: How have things changed during the past 3 years? Any new restrictions or laws? Any new policies regarding mongering? Any new clubs, massage parlors or bars I should know about? I am of course very familiar with the DR, KL and SL, Little Havana and New Fantasy (? Not sure I am recalling that name right. The other mp down the street from Little Havana. Is New Fantasy still there? I quit going there due to lack of hot chicks but when it first opened, it was excellent!)

What with the US economy being in the dumper, I am guessing that prices have not risen at the Del Rey, Little Havana etc. Am I right?

What's the current price at Little Havana for 1 girl / 1 hour?

What's the going rate for a Spanish speaking gringo who knows how to get a good price, at the Del Rey?

Any other news? Any closures, crackdowns, changes I should know about, during the past 3 years?

Just want to keep abreast and find out what to expect if I am lucky enough to finally get to go down there in the near future.

Hey there Johnny Sax! I feel your pain. I haven't been down there in 5 years, but I'm going to be going back down early next month for a few days. One thing I know is new is the president. It's a chick and she was coming down hard on the fun, but as usual the business eventually wins out. How can you stop the oldest profession? I heard the old ZB is under new ownership and doing well. Prices $50 for the hour. More than I want to pay so I'll just keep hitting the little dives in Paseo Colon. From what I've gathered prices are still approximately the same. I heard one of my old faves is still at her locale. Guess she'll stay there till retirement.

Two things I need to know is if the exit tax is still $26 and what the orange taxis are charging for a lift downtown.

My hotel is still the same rate, and the dollar exchange is still approximately the same. My favorite pharmacy has closed, so I guess I'll have to pay what the street pharmacies charge. I used to use Farmacia Alvarez out of Alajuela, but no more. Good prices. Good service. Delivery to my hotel and all kinds of drugs too, not just the boner one.

Best thing is sitting at included breakfast at the restaurent and watching all the passersbye. Sometimes if I recognised a girl I had, all I had to do was nod her over. These are the girls who did not earn any money and will gladly stay with you for $30 sometimes a whole day.

Oh the memories, I loved sitting there and having a coffee to people watch. I've had many conversations there with other mongers about the action, funny how you try to figure out if each other is a monger or a civilian. LOL. I remember one time sitting there with some guys talking about the previous nights fun, and these two American girls walked by and recognized me and stopped to say Hi, we had been on the same river rafting trip a couple days before, I kept thinking the whole time they'd figure out the "real" reason I was in CR. CR is relatively speaking on the pricier side but there are still deals to be had if you take the time to visit the tico MPs, the sodas for meals, and if you really have time on your hands, the public bus from the airport to your hotel (I've never dared to do this one but my friends have and they ended up walking blocks to the Sportsmans with their luggage). It would have cost him1500 colones to cab it from the bus station to SL.

I just arrived at the Presidente. My friends arrived yesterday and told me the bad news after I checked in. Girls are not allowed at the Presidente! They stayed here last year and had no problems with girls. I guess they changed the rules.

I have had very good experiences staying at Presidente numerous times over the years. I remember when they had beds which move all over the floor during sex. They were not bolted down. Once they re-modelled everything went downhill for hobbyists. I do not know if they still have whirpool and sauna on top floor. Previously you need to reserve it for one hour, take a chica and enjoy.

They never bothered about girls coming in. Ofcourse if you want to bring more than one, bring one girl first wait for half hour and go and bring another girl. They would generally register all girls but they had no way of knowing when the first girl left.

My last two experiences have found that the taxi's at the arrival exit are all metered and you pay the meter fare, non-negotiable. Coming back, you can negotiate any price with a local taxi. That said, in Panama, the trick is to exit the terminal, go up to where arriving passengers are being dropped off and negotiate a fare to go back to the city. Sometimes you can grab a taxi for half the normal fare (they have to go back to the city anyway, right?).

Sorry to hear about your experience. Things may have changed since April. I've never had a problem quickly finding a driver standing around in that area willing to take me for $20-25 flat. Returning home one of the drivers sitting outside the SL would always take me for the same price. Prices may be going up since April. I am going in Sept. and will post a report. Hopefully the debt ceiling issue gets worked out in time otherwise the Dollar's exchange rate is going to suffer. Bunda.
