Sorry for not posting previously. It was $150 for two hours, which I was fine with. I ended up giving her an extra $40 because it was literally an absolutely awesome time. I don't quite know how to describe it otherwise. Other than to say that it was the best time in the sack that I can ever remember due to her smiles, enjoyment, actions and enthusiasm mixed with sensuality.

As another data point, when I returned to the HDR to re-hydrate I was approached by another slim beauty that wasn't there when I'd been in the bar earlier so she didn't know that I'd already been thru one of the best sex experiences of my life. I kept being very polite and saying "No, gracias" so she kept lowering her price. At her offer of $60 for an hour I just bought her a drink and left. I would have done her in a heartbeat if I'd not been drained.

Data point #3: About a month ago I took 2 chicas to the hotel around the corner for an hour. I'd never done that before so wanted to get a check in the block. They were not inexperienced with this and knew how to maneuver around to make everyone happy. I ended up really liking one, and the other figured it out and wasn't put off at all. She just slapped my butt and said "Have fun" and went to rinse off. Paid them $80 each.

I've only been in town on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings so am hoping that at some point in the future I can actually be there on a Friday or Saturday to see what it is like.

    Best of luck to all,

    Chris.

Had a fabulous time with a slim 28 year old that went for well over an hour. She was talkative, funny, and a complete hottie in the room. There are few things better than seeing a genuine smile and feeling genuine multiple orgasms from the woman I'm nailing, and it was awesome. Her humor culminated in saying at the end when she is covered in sweat and nearly breathless "Wow, you were so good that next time I might do you for free". Of course I don't believe her, but it certainly made us both laugh.

Well, they do have a female president who is quite far to the left and a strong 'feminist. ' Then there was the Cuba Dave fiasco, as you mention, which attracted a lot of unwanted attention. Costa Rica is a pretty unique Latin country in that it was never really fully conquered or colonized, and no one really cared because they have no extractable metals to speak of. So the whole virgin / working girl thing and the whole mestizo thing were way less influential and thus way less ingrained in CR, and that is probably why prostitution developed somewhat more openly in CR than in other places. It's not hard to see why the powers that be would want to tone it down some.

Sammon is correct. And Good points made for you too. LMAO.
The Del Rey area is still a tourist location There are museums and stuff like that around. But there are girls, bars, and brothels around too.
So it's mainly for another type of tourist. Just a different type of tourist spot.

I remember the days when part timers used to come there and I had kept them for couple of days and had fun taking them everywhere. I never stayed there so do not know the condition of the rooms.

Unlike hotel presidente whose transition to family friendly hotel was evidently successful, with Del Ray it is anybody's guess. They certainly cannot close down Casino and the bar which is in your face if it becomes family destination.

People are saying if you call the DR and make reservations for Nov and ask if the bar will be operating "as usual" with girls, the answer is YES.

I've heard 3 reports that people in the know at the hotel are saying there is no change to business as usual.

Admittedly this is hearsay and I don't really KNOW but I would almost be willing to bet money at this time, that the Del Rey will certainly be open and do "business as usual" in November. Beyond that who knows?

But if the rumors are wrong about Nov they may well be wrong about the future as well.

As I've said in other posts, it just wouldn't make sense to close down the mongering business associated with the Rey. MAYBE they might move the girls over to KL or the restaurant, that is a possibility.
But while things might be slow now, over the past year in general the business has been about the same as always. 6 months or so ago when I was there the Del Rey was packed one night, and suitably busy the other night. Why would any business owner shut that down when selling drinks is a very profitable business and you've got guys who sit there for 4-6 hours at a time and buy drinks for girls too!
Just wouldn't make sense on any level to shut down that business. They don't even pay the girls, who are the main attraction! That's a "dream" of a deal for a bar!

Del Rey appears not to be closing as far as I can see

I was there again two weeks ago, and here is my take.

Whereas some 10 years ago you could literally not walk through the bar area it was so full of girls and punters today there is no problem walking amongst the patrons no pushing. The girls were everywhere and the quality was at its best. (ahhh good memories).

The casino was busy with all the tables having gamblers with piles of chips in front of them. Today there was only 3 tables open and many seats were empty.

Then 2008 happened. The dollar lost its exchange superiority. Slowly I have noticed the decline in the number of customers, and those that showed up were more careful with their capital. The girls started raising their prices to maintain their standard of living or / and the quality of service declined gradually.

Let's face it. The dollar decline has impacted enormously on the trade down here, and I might add throughout Latin America, as I note that Panama since the end of the construction of the second canal (and where I also spend nearly half of my calendar now) tourism in our field of endeavour is way down as Habanos is lacking patrons on many nights and the Veneto is in my eyes empty.

I am afraid the golden years have gone. The HDR closing down and becoming family friendly would not surprise me in the least.

Mellow, I don't know what you are talking about! Dollar decline? Canadian dollar yes! The US Dollar is the best it's been in years! I live here and I know.

I was at the Del Rey 6 months ago and it was so full it was like sardines packed in a can. That was a Fri or Sat night. Were you there on a Mon or Tue or something?

Also the quality of the girls was great. True, a few more fatties but also 50 - 100 decent to great looking ones to choose from. Let's put it this way: if you couldn't find someone to go with the nights I was there, you've got a personal problem!

I live here, the dollar is STRONG, and I can almost guarantee you that at least on weekends the Del Rey is full. However right now is the worst of the rainy season here so it is POSSIBLE tourism is down but it'll be back up in December.

The booze and the chicas is what keeps the customers constantly going there. This situation reminds me of Club Help In Rio de Janeiro. The owners sold the building that Help was located in. Thus putting a lot of people there out of work. It changed Copacabana forever. No more tourists!

The incomprehensible thinking in some of these business owner's mind is mind boggling! Key Largo I do believe can and will pick up the slack. The Delmar restaurant will be shut down to make room for the girls and the monger's.

The music in Key Largo sucks ass!! I'm a young guy and whenever I walk thru there I have both my hands covering both my ears! LOL! The live band is horrible!! The worst band I've ever seen!

    C5.
I totally agree with what you said. It is unfathomable to me that any business owner would be stupid enough to get rid of a bar that is full of 50-200 (drinking customers EVERY single night of the week! You'd have to be stupid!

So glad you agree with me about the Key Largo music and glad to know it's not just because I'm "an old fogie". I love rock music, I love some Latino music, I love blues, jazz. And loud is okay too. But not SO LOUD it gives me an immediate headache! It does seem that first bar when you come in tends to attract the Ticos and many many Ticos love music so loud it can be heard for miles. Literally. So hopefully if they move everything over to KL if enough of us complain about the loud music and horrible bands they might change it?? Don't know but it's worth a try. I for one will be complaining as high up the chain as I can get because I literally cannot stand being in that place for more than 3 minutes with the music not only too loud but also lousy!

    I Agree

It would be better without it.

Also the Cocal Hotel in Jaco. Baby Boomers fucked up the pricing for us and the locals.
