Dude, just stay at the Del Rey or the Sleep Inn. That's ground zero. You won't regret it. Any slight price premium is more than made up for by the convenience of being at the center of the action. See my post from a few weeks ago. Decent hotel rooms at HDR start at $90, and Sleep Inn probably for slightly less. Its not like you are emptying your bank account at the Hilton. Guarantee companion friendly. And you'll never need a taxi except to go to and from the airport. Those little $3-4 dollar taxi rides add up to the point where it doesn't make sense to stay anywhere else.

Costa Rica is a beautiful country and San Jose is a great city with so much to offer. Safe to boot!! Although I like going to HDR to socialize and sometimes take back to my room, I am disappointed that it's so mechanical. Meaning, it's cookie cutter sex. Hi guys. I get my first opportunity to come to San Jose, on business, July 31 and Aug 1. I arrive late in the day, and am a bit hesitant about venturing out at night. I'm not sure if my coworker is a monger too. I'll be staying at the Intercontinental, I guess it's by something called the multiplaza.
