For those with experience in both TJ and SJ, if you could advise me of the main virtues of one over the other in PM, I would greatly appreciate it. My MO is mongering urban places like Rio, Tokyo or Jakarta. Lots of ST's in casas until I burn out, usually doing most of my mongering before 5 pm and taking one last one at night. My only requirement is a good supply of decent looking girls who like DFK, DATY, BBBJTC. I'm feeling like maybe SJ is much better than TJ, all travel costs being the same for me, if the girls do typically provide these services.

Puta Playa - Here is my 2 cents worth..........

I have done some extensive mongering in both locations Tijuana and San Jose ...both within the last year.

Tijuana for me just does not do it....most of the available girls in my price range....say around $ 40-50-60.00 look like Indians who just came in from a far.
Nothing against Indians....there are some pretty ones, but most are not.

(( The absolute best thing about going down to Tijuana was taking in a SD Padre's baseball game, and the nifty electric trolley that runs all over SD town and down to the border- coming and going about every 15 minutes )).

On the other hand most all the PWP girls in San Jose look pretty good. Unless you are crawling around the little bars in the cheap sections of town. Then they can be fairly old, over the hill, and downright mean looking.

Anyway for my money I would go to San Jose (if travel expenses would be nearly the same)- hands down----every time.

And if you look around in San Jose, you should be able to find a decent $ 30-40.00 hotel ....although there are not many of them. And for eating in San Jose...well you can eat 3 meals a day there for $ 3.00 - 4.00 each if you are not too particular.....like local sodas, or McDonalds, Wendy's, Papa John's Pizza, Chinese Restaurants, Chicken Places, and such. If you want higher quality food and a higher price it is also available.

I never did try to eat from the street taco stands or little chicken shacks in TJ....just never thought that stuff looked any good....and then was also concerned about the health issue of it too. In TJ I at at the better restaurants so guess the food there was around the same quality and price as in San Jose.

In TJ....where all the young working girls stand against the wall ......if you have been there, then you know what I am talking about.....there might have been 50 girls there lined up....and perhaps 1 or 2 of them might have been attractive to me...enough to want to talk to them and ask about a sex session.

On the other hand.....if you see 50 girls from the Del Rey Hotel on any given night..... 35-40 of them would have been attractive to me.......as far as attractiveness goes.

You should be able to find ---- DFK, DATY, BBBJTC, - all that with the gals in San Jose....depending upon the girls of course.....some will, and I suppose some won't......and for no more than $ 40-50-60.00 a pop, and even cheaper if you will search out some of the massage parlors that are available. The sessions at the MP's typically goes for about $ 25-30.00 for a half hour session- up to $ 40.00 an hour.....and if you run into a girl that you really like...then most of them will also come by your hotel room for a longer session for the likes of $ 40-50.00 an hour or so.....where you might just be more comfortable and can take your time with her.

All things given........ my advice is head South to Costa Rica- me amigo- I think you will enjoy yourself more there than in TJ.

I just came back from TJ. This past june I spent 2 weeks in san jose.

As far as mongering goes you will get better service from the low end MP's in san jose than you would from TJ SG's. However the budget scene in san jose is no mongers wet dream. A lot of the chicas look like chopped meat...scars fat not that attractive. There are exceptions but you need to be flexible in your physical tastes. I had some ok sessions but nothing off the wall. Try going around the coca cola bus terminal for low end action in little cantinas...be very careful.

If you want daty bbbj etc. in TJ you will need to hit up the bars (HK) that offer a "arriba" (girls that go upstairs). Prices fluctuate between $40-80 plus $15 for the room 30 minutes. You can sometimes find street girls that will do a long term for more money. However from my extensive efforts in the zona I can tell you it is almost not worth expecting to much from street girls. Eventually the excitement wears off and when you need a really good GFE its hard to find on a budget in TJ....more like a whack off session than anything else.

If you have the will power and money to take day trips san jose can be fun. Otherwise IMHO san jose was a very very slow at night with not many places to go for those that don't drink heavy.

Tijuana on the other hand can be very entertaining. So much so that the chicas become secondary. It is the only place I have bad sessions but still manage to have fun.

Both are in the same price range as far as lodging etc. minus the fact that decent lodging can be had in TJ for $30...not so in san jose. Food would be cheaper in TJ as well....no such thing as $ taco stands in san jose.

    San Jose - Re-discovered

I normally post in the Peru forum. It has been ten years since I was last in CR so I thought I would approach this trip as a newbie and anyone can use the data if they wish.

I have only four days and three nights on the ground. So little time and so many orifices to fill! The trip will also be a bit schizoid as I have to be “normal” on the weekdays so I am simultaneously booked into the Dunn Inn as well as a “normal” hotel out of the gulch.

This is a reconnaissance mission – time spent in reconnaissance is seldom wasted and I will use this raw data and update as I find more. I will have many more trips to come.

Movement starts at Sparrow’s fart flying on American Airlines to Miami and then on. How can AA manage to get their toilets smelling worse than the rankest French pissoir?? C’est incroyable!

    Actions:

    1) Printed some maps from the CRT site. Invaluable and kudos to the authors.

    2) Ensure I have a printed copy of the hotel address, the CRT maps and return itinerary (sometimes immigration want to see this).

    3) On landing, leg it to immigration ahead of the other Hawaiian shirts. Do not buy Duty Free before immigration.

    4) After immigration and in baggage claim wander over to carousel #1, decide if I want to buy a pre-paid SIM from ICE, extract colones from the ATM (not the anatomical kind), and duty free. Do not exchange money here. [Edit] Purchased Sim, forgot golden rule of test it before you walk away. Doesn't effing work - but a good idea nonetheless. [Edit] ATM gave me a "communication error", no money or f*ck off slip, but did deduct $100 from my Chase bank account. Kudos to Chase they replaced it no questions asked on return to Sex Prison.

    5) If I feel the need to exchange more money go to the departure hall (out arrivals, cross road, up elevator in parking garage, cross road into departure hall) to the far right to the Bank of San Jose booth – red. Do not use the Global Exchange windows.

    6) Try and blag a ride with a taxi dropping off outside the departures hall as it will likely be cheaper than downstairs. If not only use airport taxi as I was not organized enough to book the shuttle. Of course, I could talk nice to a Hawaiian shirt and double up.

    7) Get to Hotel, get copy of passport made – main page and entry stamp.

8 ) Look for anyone I know – including chicas. If none or more than 15 minutes elapses – go prowl……….

More (hopefully salacious) tales to follow!

    West Wing Casino

This is a new development of a few guys from the Sportsbook industry. It's located downstairs from the White House Hotel.

It's well funded, has fresh ideas, and is backed by guys who are more interested in having a good time than nickel and diming for everything.

Robert from the MDE Mansion and I were given a tour of the Casino/Sportsbook/Bar and the upscale spa they plan on converting into a massage parlor and were impressed with the facility. The spa reminded us of Loutron in Medellin.

They asked to borrow my phonebook for talent for the Grand Opening and filled the place with honeys. Opening night was a blast. The place was packed with hot working girls and high end bookies.

They plan to have a Sunday pool party modeled after the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas. They're even calling it "Rehab".

The jury's still out on this one, but it's a fresh face and a new idea in a played out scene. So I'm optimistic.

    Stay Tuned.

72-hour trip to San Jose in early October

Thanks to all who've posted here with useful info. Just finished my first trip to CR in some 18 years. The great incentive was a short-lived sale on Spirit Airlines that dropped the RT airfare all-in to $189 from some eastern airports including mine. Was also nice to get midday arrival and midday departure, so I booked a Friday-to-Monday stretch.

Spirit has the infamous baggage policy with charging for carry-ons, but they do allow a "personal item" about the size of a rucksack for no cost, so I decided to try that as my only baggage.

Immigration at the airport was quite a long line, taking some 30 minutes or so. I changed only $10 at the place with poor rates. The bus service from the stop in front of the airport worked well, with costs of only 450 colones to get downtown. Was glad to be light on the bags, though, as it turned out to be a fair walk from the bus stop to my hotel.

Had booked the Hotel Vesuvio via the entertainment.com, which uses the hotels.com engine. The all-in for 3 nights was $124, but $50 was rebatable through the special rebate deal for Entertainment members (which I know works), so the net was around $25/night. The place gets mediocre reviews on Trip Advisor, but it's just a few buildings down from the Sportsman's Lodge and in the nicer part of Barrio Amon. The walls are thin, but my room was nice enough, and the place is GF. Would rate overall a low 2-star, which means it might not be good value at $55 but is fine at $25. (One ding: They want $4/day to use the in-room safe)

An added plus is that the big building with the Jade Museum is on the walk between the Vesuvio and the Del Rey. That building has three ATMs on the outside wall, including a Bancredito one that didn't surcharge.

As for mongering, costaricablush.com was an invaluable resource, especially for poorly-signed hole-in-the-wall locals places. Went down soi 7 (oops...avenida 7) the first night and checked out Taberna VIPS. It's popular with locals and the crowd grew as the evening wore on, but if you're used to places like the Windmill Club in Pattaya or even the places in Angeles, it could come as a letdown. It reminded me more of the divy Tijuana places. Maybe half the time one girl would dance either on the bar or at a pole in the corner. The Tico guys were super-cool about everything and girls weren't putting on the pressure to buy lady drinks. Customer drinks were C1200 and up for the beers and C2500 for the canned Cuba Libres (or Bamboo, another canned rum + Coke brand).

There were maybe 7-8 girls on a Friday night, mostly in the 5-7 range with a bit of pudge factor. I did zero in on a darker-skinned one who turned out to be from Colombia. She was taller than the others and had very little body fat & said she was 19. Went to the adjoining pension, where the lady at the window collected the C11,100 fee ($22-23-ish) for a half-hour (an hour would be double). The cuarto you got was very basic and reminiscent of many places on a similar business model in Thailand.

Still, few things are finer than a horny young Latina in full flower. I did a bit of oral and she seemed to really get into it, returning the favor briefly. I could tell she was trying to stay detached and businesslike, but it didn't take much foreplay to bring out the wild, more animalistic side, and soon she was kissing on the mouth and not trying to hide enjoyment of the other activity (and I've seen the fakers). The energy level also was incredible. As often happens, my orgasm depended on hers, as the condom (mine, brought from the U.S.) reduced sensitivity enough that the extra muscle contractions ultimately made the difference after 3 positions or so. I gave her C2,000 as a "propina."

It was a great feeling to get that bit of business out of the way. With that done, I popped into some other places for research purposes. Club Krysis near the Lipstick appears to operate on a "fishbowl" model with supposedly nice rooms and the girl of your choice at $40/hour, but none of the 6-7 possibilities really appealed. Jet Set 70E was a bit like the VIPS Taberna but more downscale, albeit also friendly. Lipstick was probably the only place I went that resembled an American strip club in interior decoration. They had a 2-drink minimum, a few cute girls, but not much of a crowd. Management didn't seem happy that I just wanted to watch the (1-dancer) show rather than invite someone over and buy a lady drink. I guess the business model depends o'ermuch on that link in the chain. I finished the beers and the damage was C5,000, if memory serves.

Then I headed to the better-known Gringo Gulch places. I remembered the Key Largo from 1992 but not the Del Rey. Both had nice atmosphere and could be good places to just hang out...they remind me of L.A. Cafe in Manila ("Best bar on the planet"), only less crowded. Key Largo has the nice colonial feel, and it was great to watch the live salsa band while dolled-up freelancers paraded through the connected bars.

I did some basic touristy stuff by day, like seeing the Teatro Nacional (which they had closed on my trip 18 years ago because of earthquake damage). A guitar festival was there, and it was a great unexpected treat to see the closing concert one night. Also saw the gold museum. That area was about 15-20 minutes' walk from the Vesuvio. The Teatro cafe was nice for a light meal. Looked at the Grano de Oro restaurant but decided the C15,000 and up entrees were too rich for my budget, so as a second choice I tried the Oasis at the Santo Tomas hotel. Great vichyssoie, good tenderloin in Spanish sauce and kahlua parfait washed down with 2 Imperials at about C17,000 total damage.

Also checked out the Mercado Central and central post office during the day, including the Cafe Teando location there (some great coffee creations)

The next day I hung out a bit around the gulch places, watching football games on the TVs at Chubb's while trying the different beer brands. Tona from Nicaragua was good. Went over to the Del Rey. One of the FLs there, Laura, was good at pushing the right buttons without being too aggressive. Too many girls are too quick to hit the buy-me-drink point of the conversation, at which point if you don't they assume you're not interested, are too cheap or otherwise not a good prospect. I'm happy to let those go, as they're usually not good at the hotel.

Laura was patient and personable enough, though. Maybe a 7 on looks, big boobs, dyed blonde hair and maybe 25 or so. It was afternoon and I'd have to finish the session in time to change and go to the Teatro (which was strict about not letting latecomers be seated). She opened at $80 ST but I got it down to $50 without too much problem. Got a passing taxi that actually used the meter and got back to the hotel.

She was good in bed, not the "natural" that the Colombian was, but enthusiastic and, thankfully, also orgasmic, as again that made for a happier happy ending on my part. She was very much a pro, but in the good sense of the word, i.e. trying to apply know-how toward a better customer experience. As elsewhere in the world (Amsterdam, L.A. Cafe, soi 6 in Pattaya) the best girls are the ones that try to please the guy well enough to get repeat business, whereas the worst ones become hardened and take a more slash-and-burn approach and are always trying to land the overpaying newbie.

Was able to find the terminal and catch the bus back out to the airport. Spirit check-in was a disaster...a 60-90 minute line mostly because of arguments over the baggage policy or whether someone had already paid or not, understaffing, poor training and slow computers. My chck-in could have been done via a kiosk, but they don't have any in San Jose.

Of course there was the $26 departure tax, and the banco on the departure level has much fairer exchange rates than the ones in arrivals. Security lines also took maybe 10 minutes (some 18 years ago that was a 1-hour line). Airport food and concession prices were high even by U.S. standards. I got the impression they were trying to do the airport too much "on the cheap" by trying to sock passengers and having it pay for itself. Which sounds nice at first, except if you look at airport development around the world there's often a huge payoff for the first place in a region to "go big" on the airport (Atlanta and Singapore are examples). SJO is still quite a bit undersized to its potential, and by being so it leaves the country vulnerable to another place, like PTY, someday becoming the big regional hub. It's penny-wise and pound-foolish.

Overall I know I didn't break much new ground, but I was very pleased with the trip and would certainly do it again if I got a similar deal on the airfare and hotel.

Recommended "etiquette" for current p4p in San Jose!

While the bar is still popular with local retired and expatriate community there are plenty of competitors for this market both in downtown San Jose and among upscale suburbs like Escazu and Sabana.

It’s not uncommon now to see girls spend hours among the various bars chatting with men, and get nothing in return. A quick pass through the slots area of the Del Rey after 2am on a weeknight shows at least a dozen sad chicas hoping for some luck in order to avoid going home empty handed.

Of course the Blue Marlin and Key Largo Bars are still the number one options to meet the best talent, however a little bit of careful observation and cool demeanor will go a long way in either finding that diamond in the rough or keeping control over the situation.

A good piece of advice is to avoid talking to girls who present themselves, and continue to overly check out the rest of the talent. While it may be rude or uncomfortable to send a pushy girl away it’s far easier to just ignore her while chatting with a friend or looking at other girls. Most will give up after a few minutes, and in the end a tourist can expect to have more fun when he picks his company instead of the girls picking him.

Keep in mind that most of the ladies need much more than most men are prepared to give, and the real attraction to a place like Costa Rica is that gentleman can have his pick. Avoid the drama and walk away when a girl fails to satisfy.

Above all remember to demand better performance, more dedication and ultimately more fun from the female talent. Avoid drama, be cool, and never be afraid to see if the grass is greener some where else. There is no shortage of attractive, unemployed women with children to support in Costa Rica, and a place like the Hotel Del Rey is testament to that fact.

A prudent tourist who puts his own needs and desires above all other concerns will always get plenty of entertainment value, and now is the perfect time to enjoy Costa Rica!
Just a personal note to interested mongers...the p4p venues in San Jose won't always be a "buyers' market", as J Luna stated, so please try to avoid letting the "tail wag the dog", when you negotiate prices, services expected and time!

This can only help to keep the prices down and quality up for paid sex in San Jose in the foreseeable future!

The Del Rey/Blue Marlin isn't a brothel with fixed rates. All the ladies there are independent contractors, and they are free to set their own prices. Personally, I am normally willing to pay between $50-80 for ST. I'm not a huge fan of this place and have never negotiated for LT.

    Trip report

    IDEM

Very quiet bar where the girls do not approach customers. Closes at 9:30PM, at least on weekdays. High quality chicas, 10 of them for 3 mongers when I got there at 8PM. Had a very enjoyable experience with a girl with long black hair who was very motivated and sweet, paid 28,000 COL for 1 hour, well worth it, will return, there were several sexy girls. Too bad I can't remember my girl's name, starts with L...

RELAX across the street from IDEM

They close even earlier at 8:00PM, only 2 girls when I got there at 6PM, picked one and lucky me it was Jenny. Great 30 min BBBJ as reported by others, I did not expect it but she is 7 months pregnant and lactating, quite a treat. This was her last day for now, she is taking 2 months off work before coming back. Best of all she actually likes sex. I paid 18,000 for 1 hour, outstanding quality/price ratio thanks to Jenny and in spite of the not-so-nice room and stained bedsheets.

    SL

Very disappointing selection both in the afternoon and evening, was attacked by a 200 lb tuna who insisted to come to my room, no way, I left as quickly as I could. To me SL has gone down, the last 3 times I went there over a 9 months period it was the same scenario in the evening.

However on the day I checked out I was shocked to see the very nice morning selection at like 9AM, including a pretty young thing who approached me while I was checking out and kissed me, saying how sorry she was that I was leaving before we had a chance to know each other. She broke my heart, I must come back!

    HLH

At 6:00PM on a weekday. 3 customers, 6 average-looking (or below) girls, place was dead.

    KEY LARGO

I like Key Largo for the music, but for the most part have had bad experiences there. Tonight was no exception, 2 good looking and sexy Ticas one brunette and one blonde, started chatting me, I bought them drinks thinking I should not but oh well the drinks are inexpensive. Tried to sell me a 3-some for the "special" price of 160 USD, which I politely declined even though I did not doubt this was a special (gringo) price, talked about their kids, ex husbands etc, and all the time about money. I understand that is why they are here, but it is not pleasant. After I made it clear I would not go with 2 girls today the brunette tried to get me to give her 5K for her taxi, I already bought her drinks and told her no. She said she was leaving but 30 minutes later she was still around and came to ask again. Ended up going with the blonde for 40K, she was considerably more sexy with her clothes on than without, everything was falling and mostly her p*ssy stunk big time. I had trouble getting her to take a shower but even that did not do it, she smelled of used condoms, I sent her back to the bar with her money, the smell was too much of a turnoff and not expected from the nice looking girl she was at the bar.

    HDR

Way too aggressive for me, and my limited experience with HDR is the same as Key Largo, normal since for the most part the KL girls also work at HDR. Yes there are some gems, but it really takes a lot of work or luck to find them and a lot of disappointment in the meantime. I met a really good girl there once, but she knew it and when I returned a few months later she wanted $200, claimed to get $300 LOL. Anyway I would much rather return to IDEM or RELAX for sex, KL only for the music and note to self, no more single mothers.

People should know that the airport is a convenient and totally viable place to exchange dollars into colones, or vise versa, but only if they know where to do it. The bank near where you pay the departure tax ON THE DEPARTURE LEVEL of the airport offers just as good of a rate as anywhere in town. Yes, the exchange booths on the arrival level that you encounter as you head to the customs/immigration area are a complete ripoff. Last Sunday, they were offering around 450 colones to the dollar, while the bank upstairs that I just referred to was offering 503. Alas, I was getting 560-580 just last year.
