I got here Monday and found the DR very scarce for days and early evenings, but I did manage to meet a couple of new ones, a Tica and a Nica. Both very nice, so I haven't visited NF yet. Tourism is way down from years past, even from last year. Nights may be better. I'll check it out Saturday.

Had a follow-up visit with Dentist Dr. Chen and we'll do some more serious, but inexpensive work when I come back in July. I walked to his office twice about 10 a. m. The new Prez seems true to her word about beefing up security. I passed at least a half dozen pairs of policio on the two pedestrian streets to the office. They have been out more in the evening, also.

About the most exciting thing so far was the 6. 0 earthquake near Alajuelo today, Friday just before 5 pmabout 17 miles from downtown. Felt quite well in the Morazan Hotel downtown San Jose, felt like something was coming through the floor, then the room swayed considerably from side to side. I hadn't read the "Drop, Cover, Hold" earthquate response and run into the hall with pants in hand, only to meet other panicked guests and chicas. Scary. I didn't go outside, but many did. I could imagine that 12 ft. Dish toppling over, but it didn't.

Bars are negotiable. You could search the thread on bars, clubs, massage parlors. Not sure I'd try or trust anything on the street. Likely to get more than you bargain for, (in more ways than one.) Good luck.

Had another good trip April 13-20. Wasn't sure what to expect so close to Easter. I was out before Holy Thursday when alcohol is not supposed to be served and there were plenty of chicas including a wide variety as usual. Highlights included Camila at Relax. She is a 19 year old Nica. The best way I can describe her is yummy. Had her twice for a one hour session each time. I have stayed there in the presidential suite. The presidential suite is better than presidente. The normal rooms aren't that great. The staff is awesome and they don't charge girls. I love the walk to Del Rey and ZB from Europa it brings me to life. Most girls won't walk back to it though they want a taxi, I don't recommend telling them they could use the exercise either I lost a girl with that one. I love to wonder in San Jose it's so interesting and to me it seems very safe compared to other places in the world. I've actually went out on dates with the front desk girl at Europa every time I've stayed, always was a different girl working day shift and I always got caught bringing a girl back from Del Rey eventually but I love those girls that server ie. Front desk, mcdonalds, shoe sales. Next time I'm hiring a maid and hopefully working out some fantasies. My wife owns a cleaning company and when a cute girl cleans our home I'm always like damn I'd like to bend that piece of ass over. But don't know if I want to get a tongue lashing for it.

I remember the hotel being a little run down for a regular stay hotel, but fine for ST. Don't know if I'd stay there overnight. Alot of mongers coming and going, although it would be limited to certain floors.

Stay away from the chicas on the street. Too risky. Either druggies, TVs, or just plain hardcore. Not worth the trouble and added cost if you get robbed or injured. Good luck.

The Gringo Gulch is the main strip for mongering. If you haven't been down before and have limited Spanish, you can't go wrong by staying at the Hotel Del Rey or the Sportsmens Lounge.

Arguably, there are other places nearby that may cost less, so if you are adventurous and speak some Spanish, I'd encourage some exploration.

Some people really like the convenience of HDR, it's completely self-contained; Chicas, Bar, casino, restaurant. And some guys never leave. (Actually, they do have a Tourism Desk there, so you could book a sight-seeing trip).

Without knowing much about what kind of experince your looking for, spend some time reading this board to sort out what appeals to you.
