Good hanging with you last week at Barbas negras, I'm in country now at Jaco, if this is your first time to the CR I think you are going to be disapointed in price and service when compared to the DR.

You are on your way to Costa Rica. You need a rooms. Now what to do? Where should you stay? Do I stay at a 4 star hotel with a high Tripadvisor rating or should I go out on my own and find a place in the Gringo Gulch. While you might get a room with a International chain by just walking up and checking in, you might want to do your due diligence and make sure you can bring your lady up to your room. You will notice that some hotels do not allow working girls at all, others set the chica fee so high, you will not dare to take a girl there.

Some of the monger and chica-friendly hotels in the San Jose Gringo Gulch include in alphabetical order.

1. Amistad.

Barrio Escalante a block from the Hospital Calderon. Sportsmens is a stones throw away. Best deal going if you like to eat, drink and at. Very nice hotel; rooms start at $79 (less for O. L. D. VIP discount) All inclusive, all you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, off of the menu. All you can drink beer, wine and well cocktails. No chicas working on-site; good wi-fi and free laundry service.

2. Hotel Castillo.

(budget hotel and old timer's hotel. Starts at $50 very basic and basic services. Wi-fi available and a free breakfast.

3. Del Rey Hotel and Casino.

Probably the #1 tourist attraction in all of Costa Rica. A must see. Like Denny's it's always open. Key Largo across the street opens at 10 pm for dancing. More chicha's than you can shake a stick at. The rooms needs a little help and are not up to par. Most would not recommend staying there but is a most see for the beautiful women and over price drinks. $11 chica fee.

4. Hotel Dunn Inn Barrio Amon.

Close to my heart as this was the 1st place I stayed when I came to Costa Rica years ago. All room have been newly renovated and start at about $70; Rick's Sportsbar opened in 2011 and in my opinion a great waste of space because it is such a great bar and atmosphere. Good food, service and wi-fi.

5. The Freebird Hotel.

Nice renovated house turned into a hotel. Almost on Avenda Segundo. Close to attractions of downtown San Jose. Only downfall is that most rooms share bathrooms. They do have has 2 suites; rooms start at about $53 a night cash only. No credit cards accepted. Good wi-fi

6. Hotel Little Havana (HLH) , Bariio Amon.

Lot of changes coming and is in transition. I really want to hold off commenting on this one until all the dust settles. I personally think good things are to come. (O. L. D. VIP discount providers)

7. Hemingway Inn.

Nice place and rooms start at $35 cash but only has 2 of these rooms. Most basic start at $50 but be prepared to add 12% for credit cards, $3 for a safety deposit box and $25 chica fees.

8 Hotel Morazan.

Another Hotel for the guy who is coming in on a very limited budget. A single room is $54 and a double is $60. Casino and Sportsbook on the premises. Even though Costa Rica passed a non smoking law, some of the rooms still smell like Lucky Strikes.

9. Mona Lisa, new kid on the block. Old Clarion. Recently renovated and opened in Jan of this year. Casino, bar, Chicas, restaurant, M. P. And Yorleny for the very best deep tissue real massage in town. Best Texas holdem poker game in town as well. Has a few growing pains. Wi-fi is spotty and not enough safety deposit boxes. Friendly staff and good service. A few of the old Sportsmen bartenders are working there as well. One big plus is underground parking if you happen to rent a car while here. Rooms start at $69 a night. O. L. D. VIP discount provider.

10. Sportsmen Lodge (SL)

My favorite to party and watch a good football game. Excellent Sports bar and bar food. Moderately price beverages and the staff is #1 in my opinion. Chica's on the premises and are not nearly as pushy as the Rey. Most will leave you alone while watching you favorite sporting event. Rooms start at $65. $275 for the awesome Penthouse. O. L. D. Discount provider. Good wi-fi and continental breakfast of fresh fruit, toast and coffee. Only downside is. It is just about always full and you have to book way in advance.

Guest / Chica fee hotels:

-Del Rey ($11)

-Hemingway $25.

-Sleep Inn (next to Del Rey) ($25)

-Holiday Inn (arm and a leg) they really don't want your type staying at their wonderful establishment

Hotels that really do not cater to mongerers are:

-Radison.

-Hotel Grand Costa Rica-Working girls not allowed in the hotel at all.

-Holiday Inn arm and a leg.

-Balmoral.

-Best Western.

-Hotel Presidente No chica's at all allowed. Too bad because it use to be one of my favorites.

Rumor has it that half of the Hotel Little Havana, the half that is on the corner, has been sold and will open as the Zona II, hopefully around Oct. 1st. There will be 4 2 be. Are. Suites, with all the immensities, at a blowout price of $100 a night. This will be ideal for the guy who likes the extra room and privacy. More details to come.

At that point the sky completely fell down. Worse storms experienced even my girl down there told me it was going take a while since she couldn't see while driving.

I fell asleep and 3 hours later the storms stop but it was still raining. We decided to check out the places within walking distance. Went to new fantasy I was completely disappointed. There was 15 dudes in there waiting for the rain to stop and when a hot chick finished with a client the dudes would scoop her up and take her back. I finished my beer and decided to go little havana. When I went to the old entrance I noticed the cigar shop was open and was told to walk down 30 feet down for the new entrance. Walked in there and it another disappointment. 4 girls and they were all 2's and 3's. Walked around the corner down from San Tomas for a massage parlor 4 girls and they were just as bad as little havana.

Thanks for the update. I'll wait till the rainy season is over before I go back. Hope things got better.

Decide to go to San Jose this weekend.

Arrived Saturday at SJO airport.

Walked the hallway down to passport control. Cleared Passport and first ATM I walked by out of service.

Bought my sim card at baggage claim and took forever since the guy in front of me didn't know how to use his phone.

Second ATM machine out of cash. Passed thru x-ray customs and since I didn't have any colones I walked out and went upstairs to departure area and went to the BAC to change out some dollars and make a withdrawal. Tip never exchange your money at the baggage claim they rip you off with an exchange rate of 430. I just find it interesting that both ATM were out of order.

BAC was offering 495 sell and 505 to buy. I was disappointed they started charging an ATM fee now. GRRR I hate those greedy bankers. Walked out and caught a taxi that was dropping off someone at departures. Told them to run the meter and arrived at the Dunn inn withing 30 minutes. Total price 12000 colones. Made my check in and went in my room. At that point the sky completely fell down. She drove us back to our hotel and I called it night since I didn't want lead this girl on. I wouldn't say this girl is drop dead gorgeous but she isn't a dumpster fire either.

I'm mostly referring to the Rey. I didn't know girls still went over to the Mona. Whatever the reason for the increase in talent, I hope it keeps up.

Same thing I am hearing Jonsie. I picked up a client today at 4 AM. Believe it or not and we headed to the airport. I was asking him about his trip, as I do most guys. He was saying the same thing. It could be that some of the Cocal Jaco ladies have made their way back into town after immigration raided the place the other night or just new talent looking to make some extra money. What surprised me is that he said he went over to the Mona Lisa, I don't know what night it was, and he said there was about 25 ladies over there. That's a large number for the M. L. Please, keep us up to date on the talent. You get out more than I do.
