I just got back from my second trip to this shithole. I arrived and the first thing that happened was that my cabbie tried to rip me off. I was tired from the flight and exchanging a little bit of money at the airport while my cabbie was waiting at the window. While the guy behind the window was looking for change she said that she had the bill that he was looking for and offerred it to me taking the cash. He was in on it. On the way out she tells two cabbies that we are passing that she already hit this sucker (that would be me) for 5 bucks. We argue in the cab down and I get the money back. I met some locals and started partying with them. They turned out to be the wrong people. Somehow in the midst of this the cops started following me. EVERYWHERE! They harrassed me every day of the trip first starting with uniformed fuerzas publicas and then with young unarmed thugs (probably OIJ undercover officers) then later with English speaking fake "American style monger types". There are people openly smoking weed on the street everywhere and scamming every gringo in sight with every con in the book and these assholes are fucking with ME! In addition to the tails they had "hookers" come up to me who just happened to want to take a look at my passport entry stamps and ask me twenty questions. Then really obvious tourist types would come up to me and nonchalantly ask me where they could score (real subtle).

I made the mistake of repeating with Rachel at New Fantasy. She was one of my favoritas from the first trip. She informs me that a tip for BBBJ and CIM at New Fantasy is now standard. She tried for ten bucks. She got five an no repeat business. She is still fine as hell and can really suck some dick but her attitude has really gotten worse. She is all business. She told me that she had a lot of clients that day and really needed her day off. She also told me that she likes New Fantasy better than Zona Blue because tourists aren't coming to San Jose like they used to and New Fantasy has a steady stream of Tico clients. She said that she prefers Tico clients to foreign ones. I went down to that dump on calle 11 passed Tin Jo and Idem. I can't remember the name of the joint but the girls were young and looked liked dirty crack heads. I sessioned with a Nica starfish who was so lame I had to finish with a handjob and show her how to give one. Luckily the damage was only about 20-25 bucks. The most fun that I had was dragging a Nica hooker from the DelRay around all night from club to club trying to lose the cops. I had a good time dancing salsa and cumbia with the girls at Key Largo as old-assed, uncoordinated, bald, drunken fuckers kept bumping into us on the dance floor while they were looking for the beat in all of the wrong places. I spent the rest of the trip up in Heredia trying to wait for the heat to die down. It didn't. Trouble followed me out there too. I contracted a lawyer using the U. S. Embassy's list and went to talk with the cops in Heredia. They told me that no investigation was in progress and that they had no problem with me. The next thing that I know all the cabs that I get into don't know where shit is and routinely get lost and all of the drivers want to play twenty questions and NOONE knows "the way to San Jose" but Dionne Warwick. Then I read in la nacion that my "local friends" were picked up in a raid in Jaco by the OIJ. Then my bank puts a hold on my account because of the money that I took out to pay the lawyer. Knowing that the cops were following me to every internet cafe and cabina stand that I went to I went to call the bank at the lawyer's office after being denied the use of a secure telephone line at the U. S. Embassy. (Those fuckers are totally useless at the embassy and you have to announce your reason for consulting them in front of everyone in the waiting room while they answer you over a fucking LOUD SPEAKER. No joke). The lawyer listened in on my call and stole my personal identification info and tried to steal money from my account.

I knew that these OIJ thugs were tired of watching me enjoy my vacation and that a frame up job was in the works and also due to the hold on my account and the fact that I couldn't remove the hold without this other asshole draining all of the funds out of it, I decided to get the fuck out of town in a hurry! My first trip here was lukewarm at best. This time the line up at the DelRay was noticeably lower in quality. The Colombianas that I saw working there wouldn't be able to pay a Colombian guy to fuck them at home. I can't believe that the mob is paying to sponsor those hags and they need more than braces and fake racks now. There were some HOT Colombianas on my last trip and I bagged the best one. The verdict. San Jose is a worthless peice of shit town that should ooze off of the map of the world and into a funky septic tank somewhere. It is the only place in the world now that is doing worse than the U. S. Economically speaking and you can feel the desperation of the people all around you. Spend your precious time and money elsewhere if you have any sense at all!

Decided to stay at hotel Presidente after reading the reviews, really a very nice upscale hotel suitable for both business and hobbying travelers and very close to the bars (was told not to walk back from BM at night though).

I must emphasize that the dress code for the ladies, which is mentioned elsewhere on this forum, is very strictly enforced. I ended up having to take my chica back home at 5AM so she could change, after the Presidente's security absolutely would not let her in with a skirt above her knees (damn, even the school girls have skirts above knee level). I argued for a while with the night manager, who swore he would do the same if she was my mother in law, I don't think so... Besides this very unpleasant incident the hotel is really fine, at least the lobby, the bar and the large jaccuzzi suite.

Blue Marlin crowded all night, but I don't really like the setting, just too aggressive for me, prefer Key Largo across the street for the music and the bar, the same chicas cross the street between both locations. Most won't approach you unless approached first, that is except for the ugly ones since they know they won't get approached. All quoted $100/ST or $200/LT and with few exceptions the nicer girls were gone by 1AM.

Went to Zona Blue for the first time, fun place, a bunch of mongers were taking close ups of ladies stripping at the bar and spending what appeared to be a lot of money on 2 girls so they would keep stripping. 7 girls at 7:00PM, in the 5-7 range, nothing extraordinary but not bad, would go back. No one approached me but the girls were all over the older guys, white hair or bald with a fat wallet seemed to be the seduction factors, as would be expected in a brothel-type setting. Rooms available on site, drinks were fairly expensive as I recall (4 or 5,000), compared to the BM.

Tried New Fantasy and really did not like it, 5 girls watching TV behind a window hoping you won't pick them. Looks from 3 to 6, I took the 6, nice body, mechanical CBJ and a couple positions, I did get a nice massage though. Another post accurately described the "Communal" shower facilities. I can say I have dallied with approximately 50 or so lovely Colombian ladies, or Colombianas, in my day, most of them at Campo Alegre on the island of Curacao and a handful of takeouts from the Del Rey. I'm no expert, but if I had to chose the countries that produce the most beautiful ladies in the world, Colombia would easily be in my top three. Interestingly enough, the Colombianas on their 3-month stint in Curacao were almost uniformly sweet and fun to be around. Their counterparts from the Del Rey generally much more hardened and "professional." I confess I have never been to Colombia, so again I need to state that I am hardly an expert here.

I have been to Colombia and found the chicas from that country to be very easy on the eyes and also easy to get along with.In Cost Rica i have never had any problems with them as well but i have to admit Colombianas on their home turf are amazing.If you can speak Spanish go and you'll have the time of your life!

My travel buddy and I recently spent a week there. In addition to beautiful women from all over the Caribbean, we found a country that is very tourist-friendly and filled with natural attractions.

I visited San Jose last week. I had been there a couple of times more than 5 years ago.

Flew in from Atlanta and made it through customs pretty good. The luggage belt delayed us, but a quick taxi ride to the Morazon made up for it. My room was ready as per phone reservation. I was only charged $35 a night including breakfast. That was a great deal as I was quoted $45 by phone. Oh well.

Morazon is pretty good. Close to Del Ray and Key Largo. And a 5 minute walk to New Fantasy and Zona Blue.

The Del Ray was pretty busy. But not like a few years ago. Many Colombian chicas. All wanted cien. Some stunners.

I booked a round trip ticket on American Airlines, from ORD to SJO for $325, for April 2-15. At the airport, went across the street and up the escalator to the entrance terminal where I stopped at a Banco de Costa Rica kiosk and received a greater exchange rate than the place near baggage claim. I walked down the sidewalk to the street below and caught a bus to San Jose, cost about 75¢, then transferred to a taxi once I hit the bus station (final stop), cost $2. Checked into a nice studio room at el Presidente for $55/nt.

I love staying at the Presidente because it’s clean and elegant, wireless internet and the free, hot breakfast in the AM. It’s also around the corner from the Del Rey and Horseshoe Casino. Other people think the security is a pain when it comes to checking in girls, but I like the extra layer of security. I think that working girls are more ameble when taking them back to the hotel because they don’t want to risk getting banned from the entire hotel. The list seems to be enforced like the black list in Vegas! Also, I like the fact that you can pay your exit tax at the hotel, makes for one less thing to do at the airport.

Horseshoe Casino. I like this casino. The casino is clean and the hostesses are pretty hot. The best time for me was at noon or shortly after. The casino is pretty empty, and no ticos are in there. The minimum on blackjack was 500 colones. They also pass around and register you for a raffle. Registration is free, and if your name is picked, you get to spin the wheel to win some colones. The one drawback of this place is that it seems to be under constant construction. It seemed that, during my peak, they were busy replacing chairs, table felt, slot machines, etc. That was annoying. Also, beware the drunk Tico at night. One got pissed at me during Rummy because I hit on 16 (dealer showed King) and took a 6 that the guy needed for Rummy. That’s when I learned to play at the table of Americans at night, costs a little more but the peace of mind is worth it.

Bored with CR? I think I definitely learned that, when you have been here several times, coming for 2-weeks at a time can actually bore you. I don’t leave SJO because I don’t fish and can’t swim. Del Rey, Zona Blue, Blue Marlin, etc, seem to be the same as every trip. I’m not jumping to the evil side where people bash SJO, but for me it has become a place where it is great to go for a quick weekend trip but not an extended trip. Also, Idem raised their prices and only offer 1 hour rates now, so it fell out of favor with me as compared to other trips. Due to this, I got to learn about new places: the Low Rent Day Places!

Low Rent Day Places are definitely a good bargain and actually pretty decent places. Though I never took the Official Low Rent Tour (though I wish I would have), I did my own tour by walking out of Zona Blue, boozed up but having not partaken inside, and walked around. Within 3 or four blocks are several places where you could find a diamond in the rough and for about $15-$20. I forget the names of two places I visited (one is somewhat hard to spot, has a small pink sign on the top of the building), but I had two of my best sessions in these two places. Definitely good times!

Wingman. I usually travel alone and meet up with people at Sportmen’s Lodge. This is the first time that I felt like a CRT elder during a trip. I found myself often talking to newbies and telling them/showing them around town. It was cool here and there, but there are times when you want someone you can share some war stories with and that knows the areas as well as you do. I can say that I was proud to have met TonyTC. He was the one wingman that I liked making the rounds with and shooting the shit with. Tony, the visions of "Jail Bait" from Del Rey will forever be burned into my mind. LOL.

Ticas of the Month. I had the opportunity to be with one of the cutest women in SJO, the lovely Carina. She is so quiet and sweet. Having met at Sportmen’s Lodge, I felt some butterflies just talking to her. I lost a lot of respect for him for doing that and am of the mindset that I will let him know how wrong he was for doing that. Still a little steamed, I hope that if and when I see him again that I have cooled down and "forgiven and forgotten. " As for her, eh, NEXT! LOL.

Wrap up. All in all a good trip, not a great trip. Got to the airport early in the AM, flight was delayed 6 hours. AA did make up for sending me an apology email for the delayed flight and also crediting my account 5, 000 miles without me even asking. I met a couple cute chicks on my flight back home to ease my pain: one who was gorgeous but oh so married (cocktease! ) and the other a Venezuelan Dentist who has invited me to visit her at home (loves to talk politics, very adamant in expressing her opinions). I got home with a smile on my face, and while I had a good time in SJO, I was happy to be back in Sweet Home Chicago!
