Finally on my way to Costa Rica. I've heard about it in songs and seen reports on the travel channel. Just loads of non-mongering activities for me to get into. The tons of reports and pictures from here (and other forums) are what really got me going. As day 1 approached I found myself getting hornier and hornier. The night before departure, I could barely sleep thinking about the adventure that lay ahead.

Land at SJO and one of the first things I notice is the huge glass windows in the terminal. Good view of the mountains. Follow the signs to immigration and along the way I pass a money exchange. Yes I've read they Phuck you at the airport but I just wanted a few colones for taxi or whatever. On this day the exchange rate was 514.302 to 1USD. I traded $60 and off I went. Quick pass through immigration and downstairs to get my luggage. There's a money exchange downstairs also if you want to wait until to after you go through immigration. I think it may depend on how long the line is that determines which booth you use. Get my bags, go through customs and I think myself, now what? I ask one of the security guys how much a taxi downtown should cost. He said roughly $20 but make sure they use the meter. Step outside and the taxi's are lined up.

Grab a taxi and I'm off to del rey to pick up my VIP card.(other forum) I get out the taxi with a huge wood. Thinking to myself after years of reports I'm finally here at the infamous del rey. I get inside and wasnt to impressed. Tell the desk guy I'm here to pick up my card. After getting a weird look I use the lobby computer to check my email. Ooops, I was suppose to pick up the card at hotel little havana / zona blue. Taxi over there and pick up my card no problem. Taxi again to my hotel (Dunn Inn). Even with all the stops with the meter running it still only came to 12k (ish) colones. I gave the guy a few bucks tip for all the run around. One thing I'll remember is that the driver (Luis 8377-2040) said 100 times not to walk around at night because it was dangerous.

Get to Dunn Inn and with no reservation plus VIP card I get a deluxe queen for $60 even (with tax). Angelica at the desk is a sweetheart. Huge tits too. You know when they wear the too small shirt and that one button is working with all its got to stay in place? Yea she had one of those on. LOL anyway, I get to the room and I like it.(I'll post room pictures later)

After checking out the room I grab a bite to eat at the hotel restaurant. They had good food. I get into conversation with one our senior members. Older guy really really nice. Lots of useful info in the last few posts... but I am a bit confused. Best you can find in CR. That is really funny as the service at those places is the Worst you can find in CR. You are probably one of those on vacation clowns that lavish tips and gifts on the staff and think they really like you when they are laughing at you behind your back.

Complain to one of the owners about how hot the place is or how bad the service is. They will tell you to go someplace else.

Not only is the service back but they are infamous for shortchanging, not bringing change back, padding the bill, drinking water shots and letting you pay full price etc.

Kepp buying them those patron shots.

The sportsmen lodge is a far better and classier place.

I have to agree in part to this....I had a girl at KL take my $10K note thinking it was a tip for her. Lol, if she came to my room, maybe. Just returned from a long weekend and thought I'd highlight my trip and what I encountered. This was my seventh trip to SJ.

Me and my wingman arrived Fri @ noon on AA. Caught a cab from the airport to the Balmoral Hotel. Cabs from the airport are now equipped with meters. Trip total was $24 in moderate traffic, split two ways plus a few dollars extra for the driver. While I have heard you may be able to get a cheaper cab rate or even a bus by walking out to the main street from the terminal, I prefer the safety of the regulated airport cabs to get me to my destination.

We arrived at the Balmoral about 12:30 pm and our rooms were ready on check-in. Cost: $52 + tax for a standard, room quality as good if not a little better than the HDR, free buffet breafast with scrambled or made to order eggs. Balmoral is two blocks from the HDR and charges a $20 "guest fee." Girls are required to surrender their identification while they're in your room.

Hit the Blue Marlin about 1:30 in the afternoon and there were several girls already in the bar and hotel areas. The Blue Marlin bartenders, both Jessica's, treated us great the whole weeked. As noted previously, the casino games shut down between 5:30 am until 3 pm, which is when the chica parade kicked up a notch. To our dismay, the A/C in the Blue Marlin and casino was out all weekend, which made for some warm beer, hot bodies and smells I could have lived without, lol. At night, the Blue Marlin was packed, sometimes two deep at the bar. As always, many of the girls stroll between the Key Largo Bar and HDR as the night wears on.
