I arrived at the Del Ray early evening on a Friday. It was quite the experience. Lots of attractive women and a few not so attractive. Bottom line is they will take $6 o - 70 US for full service fun. I did enjoy it more during the early morning hours, when it was a quieter time.

I wasn't expecting the Ritz Carlton, or even a Marriott class room, but something akin to a Hilton Garden Inn would have been nice. Rooms and bedding are definitely outdated. Rather noisy at night as the sound carries.

I went for a simple BJ for my first adventure for $35. She was excited that she was leaving with money. Must have been a slow night. Next was a woman with big black rimmed glasses that had that seductive school teacher look that I love. Full service with her. She accepted 35,000 colones and I gave her 40,000. So roughly $70 is what she was willing to accept and I gave $80, as I didn't have a 5,000 note on me.

Didn't care much for San Jose as a whole; may or may not return. I liked that it is regulated and the women provide their gov't work ID to the desk before going to your room. Interesting that I heard 70's and 80's American Rock & Roll. Something oddly nice about hearing the Knack's "My Sharona" blasting away.

Fridays and Saturdays at the Del Rey still draw some good quality. I was there a couple weeks and there were 50-60 girls; several "8"s, by my scoring.

Sounds promising. Think I'll get there for Saturday night then particularly as imagine I'll get a better experience than relying purely on Sunday and Monday.

So seems from reading reports that San Jose has really fallen off but will be there soon so hoping to have a successful trip.

I have the chance to be there 3 nights from Saturday or 2 nights from Sunday before having to flying out. But reading the forum it seems weekends are pretty dead due to the migration of hotties to Jaco for weekends so now wondering if its worth even staying the extra night in San Jose if so bad. Willing to take my chances with P4 P but also youngish enough that can hit the clubs so trying to decide what is best. Was planning on flying in to SJO to ensure I was there on what I would expect to be a busy night from Bocas del Toro on the Saturday but now considering spending it there or Puerto Viejo.

I guess my question is, is SJO worth travelling to on a Saturday or is it a Saturday wasted? I'm a simple man, so drinks, good music and hot women is all I'm looking for. Heard La Cali could also be good hunting?

A copy of ID pages has always worked for me and is advisable rather than carry and risk losing or getting original stolen, just make sure to have the entry stamp / visa page copied and carried too. Very important to have the entry / visa stamp so they know you haven't overstayed.

I have been 74 countries.

The only country I needed to carry my passport was in Quito, Ecuador to get into a few clubs.

They would not except my photocopy of the first two pages of my passport that I had sealed in plastic.

Without going into unnecessary details, what are some (if any) hotels within a block or so if Del Ray? I am being dropped off and I'd rather not be dropped off at the Del Ray.

Hotel Morazan, or you can use the "Colonial Casino, both are a block away.

I was in a small buss and didn't want to be dropped off at the Del Rey and told them to drop me off at the Presidente because it was the only one that I knew of. The Holiday Inn is closer and would work just as well. Neither would be chica friendly.

The Del Rey is very safe; only Gringos stay there, for the most part. They have good sized room safes that I put in my 11" laptop. But I've left it out to charge as I was down in the bar, no worries.

- If you are in a budget or not. Don't eat at hotel. They are expensive. From the hotel if you make a left in 2 blocks they have all kind of restaurants (Mcdonalds, Subway, Starbucks Pizza-hut etc) . There is a Tica Burger next to the hotel. Very reasonable price.

One block south of the Del Ray on the opposite side of the street, is Restaurante Chelles. They have some of the best food (breakfast, lunch, dinner whatever) and they are open 24 hours. I always take a chica there, before or after I bang her, if she says that she is hungry.

They'll ask for $100 and take $60 or $80.

I find that it's always best to use colones. I get colones from the ATM at the airport and offer 40 k with a 10 k tip and taxi, and no problem. SL is fine but the girls get kind of old. Nothing like the Del Rey. Happy hunting!

Visiting San Jose in June, I'll be staying at Sportsman's just wanted to know the going rate for chicas? Also is it better to convert or go with US dollars. Thanks in advance for any info.
