SJO is the code for the international airport in San Jose.

Sleep inn, is a regular hotel. With no casino or Bar. So, unlike Taormina. There are no girls hanging around unless you bring them. So, as far as guess. When you bring someone with you. They have to give their ID. And sign in. That is when you pay the fee.

Can some one explain how the guest fee works? Do I bring the girl to the front desk and pay? Pay in advance? Does the girl have to sign in?

I would love to book the Taormina and stay. I just didn't it want to be obvious as to why I was there. The $25 Sleep Inn fee doesn't bother me. Just don't know how it works. If locals or my work's reimbursement office wouldn't be concerned with a Taormina stay. That would be my first choice. If I absolutely had do, I can book 2 rooms for the same night, but that is last choice. Any advice appreciated!

In all cases the girl would have to provide her ID at the desk or to security. That is about it at Taormina, Sportsmans, Castillo, or Amistad. But at Sleep Inn or other places they will normally keep the girl's cedula (ID) at the desk and return it to her when she leaves. In any case they would check it and record it. And I presume charge the fee to your room. Or perhaps you could pay it separately if you didn't want it to show on your bill.

Honestly, if you're going to San Jose to monger, you'll be best served by staying at one of the hotels set up for mongering. The Taormina is the closest to a typical hotel. Other hotels are perfectly fine if you are wifeing up and checking in with a single guest for your stay. Having a few guests during your stay will probably be ok, but there's a good possibility you'll get the stink-eye at least once. A parade of scantily-clad chicas you've picked up from HDR is asking for trouble. San Jose has a love / hate relationship towards sex tourism. They love the money but hate to admit that it exists. Moreover, it doesn't appeal to the sandal wearing eco-tourists who bring in a LOT more money than sex tourists. As such, San Jose works pretty hard to keep the sex tourism out of sight. This isn't Bangkok.

There have been recommendations for the Holdiay Inn in the past. Are they still girl friendly? Or do they require they sign in or card access? Nearby I see a Sleep Inn that is attached to a casino? Is that a good location? Other recommendations?

    Thanks!
Holiday Inn not girl friendly. At all. Last I recall it was a 60 or 80 dollar fee, not sure.

I have stayed at sleep inn for most of my trips. It is perfect. If you are looking for a regular hotel. The people are great. And the WIFI is strong. The only problem is the guest fee of $25. So, if that isn't a problem. This is what you want.

It's safe to walk during the day; not so at night.

The main walking street in SJO is good for girl watching; prostitution is legal so no need to go "window shopping."

Jaco is a good beach to check out at least once. It will cost you $80 - $120 each way, depending on the mode of transportation. Two to three days is all you need in both Jaco and SJO.

Travel: I'm going to spend some time at HDR, Sportsmans, and Teormina. Is it safe to walk between during daylight or night?

Daytime fun: When do the 3 places above start getting good? I'm interested in quality over quantity. 18-22 spinners are ideal In Europe I had good luck in malls. Girls could window shop and not get run off. Are there streets, malls, or other locations you would recommend?

Jaco: I'm around for a week. Should I stay in SJ? Or is a trip worth it? Weekend best for the beach? Or should I spend more time there than SJ?

Sorry for all of the questions. I really appreciate any advice!

The ones advertising multiple chicas are massage places / pensiones, and generally they exist. Other than that you probably won't get a response. I've never met anyone who used Skokka or talked about it, and I'm in CR right now.

Don't change money. Withdraw colones from an ATM / cash machine / cajero and negotiate in colones. No problems walking among those three during the day. I do it at night but don't recommend it to newbies, especially around Taormina. The Sportsman has women quite early, sometimes fuglies. Like 10 AM. Can't speak to the others. If you like cities stay in the city and if you like beaches stay at the beach. Many more types of venues at a lower price in the city.
