My last exploratory day in Costa Rica was interesting. As I was somewhat disappointed with HDR yesterday (see previous report), I decided to explore other opportunities. As I started early (around 3 PM) Strip Clubs were still closed and I ventured into MPs. Importan: t they looked closed, but they were not: you have to ring a bell; I almost missed MP360 and then Zona 2 for this stupid thing as they looked closed under metal doors. So MP 360 was very disappointing: around 8 girls waiting, but not my test (and probably not many of those either). So I left and it felt rude, but I did not have any other choice. Then New Fantasy -- literally: no available girls. After my disappointment with MP360, I almost got excited: may be all pretty ones (IMHO) moved here, after all it is on the same street (and Zona 2 is on the same street just between them) , but when I asked ho wmany girls were working, two men at the front said in unison: one 5 and the other one 4 -- so I decided to leave and not to wait. Then I came to Zona 2 -- that is a bar I learned from one of us on the forum that it had special rooms -- and it does. But upon my arrival, I saw 2 heavy tattooed girls (not my thing) and after 2 previous disappointments my mood was not that great. Then 2 pretty girls arrived but they sat with another gentleman and let me understand that they were busy. And then a nice Nica April arrived. She said she wanted me and would do everything I would ask and we agreed on $80 USD for an hour with pictures (pictures are important to me). So the room had sauna, special chairs, large bed, and "a torture room" with all sort of equipment (handcuffs, whips, etc.). Because of the stupid blue light the pictures do not give the justice; the experience was incredible. Most is make-belief: I did not really incapacitate the girl, but she was a soldier and did not gave herself a break. She was hanged fully extended; handcuffed, and let me (very lightly) whip her during and before sex. And make pictures: tried to upload them here, but this forum has a very strict limit (my pictures are more than order of magnitude larger) so PM me: I got her permission to share with those who plan to hire her. After that returned to HDR to do some work, and left to investigate Strip Clubs in SJ First of all, the number of girls quadrupled and there were some very pretty one on my taste! But I decided to investigate strip clubs and came to Alcazar Strip Club. There were about 10-12 girls ages 21-28 and not one above 6 on my scale. Only one knew how to do pall dancing. Lap-dance is very different than in US. You pay for a drink (7 mills = $13.5 USD) and the girl dances on your laps while you give her a tip. I do not think tips are mandatory. They dance as long as they want (way better than in US) but it is up-to-them if they want to take off their clothes (way worse than in US, if a girl does not cooperate). I tried 2: one was bad and another was pretty good, so I took her up to the room to learn more about her. And it was worth it ($60 USD for 30 minutes including the room and the girl.) Warning: they had problems with watter (no watter) which made my experience way worse than it could be.

Finally after delays bcs of snowstorm in US North East and missing connecting flight, etc. Got to SJO at 10:30 instead of 4:30 PM, where the first time in my life I found a nice passport control guy. I was so exhausted that stood in a smaller line which turned out to be "Resident" but surprised officer instead of kicking me out (best case scenario) let me through with a smile "Welcome to Costa Rica!" Now Hotel del Rey -- I do not know who was talking about renovation and closure -- everything is in order. But I found 3 unexpected things: 1. Only 16 girls (Wednesday 11 PM, but still way fewer than I expected). From them 3 doable, I picked 25 yo Rachele who agreed to stay over night until 8 AM with any number of come shots, pictures and kisses are okay and. I had a very good GFE. Little English, but two phones made communication doable. The only problem was that I had to negotiate from $400 USD to $250, but tipped her $50 more ($300 all together) because she was so nice. (Originally I negotiated from $100 per hour asking price to $80, but once I heard that pictures were okay (reluctantly, but still), I wanted for the full night. 2. Very bad Internet in my room, but in the hallway (30 feet) all 5 bars. 3. When I went to try their "free" breakfast -- worth as much as I paid for it (nothing) -- at 8:30 AM in the morning, I was already eyed by 2 girls! I guess someone starts early -- no problem with that, but can not recall any other place where that happened. Today is massage and strip club day -- I want to find 18 yo -- I did not see any in HDR.

There is no chica fee at the Taormina. Plus, a quick taxi ride to Taormina from the Del Rey and back is actually cheaper than the Del Rey elevator fee. When entering Taormina, the girl will have to leave her cedula at Reception.

The Taormina is way nicer than HDR. Costs just a little more, but worth it in my opinion. The rooms at HDR have gotten too run down now in my opinion. The breakfast buffer at Taormina is great too. Even if you aren't staying at Taormina, visiting their breakfast buffet is always a good idea.

Interesting assessment given you have not been.

For many, it is really only an hour and change more in the air. I would argue (as someone who has been to CR perhaps 12 times and Colombia 6 or so) is saving an hour really worth it?

I am not a member of the Costa Rica sucks club, but I would rate it, at this point, just an average mongering destination. If you want familiar, easy, point and shoot, its a great option in North America. If nearly constant GFE, Todo la Noche, with little issue or negotiation is a priority to you, then most of Colombia, and certainly still Medellin, are far superior.

The HDR is charging way too much, the Morazan is worse than ever and the SL is and always has been the worst place unless you know NO spanish and can't handle yourself at the Blue Marlin.

Most of the massage parlors or pensiones will just give you wham-bam-thank-you-man sex whereas if you put some time and effort in at the Del Rey you can get a much more GFE type service and sometimes with semi-amateurs which to me means not used up or burnt out on sex. They still can enjoy it. And more likely to give you a girlfriend experience with kissing and relaxed fun vs just a quick romp.

Never tip more than 5-10 mil! To do otherwise is stupid and drives up prices.

It's now 01-11-18 - Is everything completely normal at the Del Rey / Blue Marlin?

Does Key Largo STILL suck with headache inducing ridiculously loud "music" and hardly any girls at all?

I'd be interested to know what Taormina costs to bring a girl back. Last time in sj me and my buddy got rooms at morazon, but it was so bad we moved to a nice chain hotel out in escazu and just kept morazon to bring girls back (for $30/ night it was worth it). I'm going back this year with some friends who are new to the hobby so I'd like a good method for this. Del ray girls were great but the room situation was definitely not.

SJO is one of my favorite quick and easy spots. The trip to Deutschland has gotten too expensive and really is too far away. No idea on the euro exchange. SJO is a great alternative.

I always find some super Nicas at the DelRey for $80. Can probably be talked down to $60 but what's $20 between friends? Funny thing, I once even met a hot young 18 year old blonde from Virginia there plying the trade.

Want to visit again but all the news on amcostarica.com is really depressing.

Is the action at the DR still living up to its reputation?

Sure we have earthquakes from time to time. Always been that way. And the same with the occasional tropical storm.

The Del Rey is alive and well. It's many more girls than men so if you can't find a girl you like you're probably not all that horny.

The internet "news" site you mentioned is not the best source for news about Costa Rica.

If you speak Spanish and have even a little negotiating skills, you can get some great girls for about 35-40 mil which is less than $75. My advice is to spend some time with them at the bar, don't go with one right away. Get to know her, buy her a beer or two. (But don't let them con you into those expensive drinks unless you know you're going back to your room with her!) Ask her if she likes to kiss, if she's good at blow jobs, whatever. Sometimes if you go in on a weekday afternoon you can get lucky and find an amateur. A girl who only works 1-2 days a week or less but enjoys her work. She's just picking up some extra college money and loves sex. It's not always easy to find a girl like this but it happens. Even on a Fri night you can find one if you are patient and steadfastly look for one.

Anyway the scene in Costa Rica is still good and anyone who says otherwise is just too dang picky or. Something.
