Just not the case. Might be true in a ghetto in the US, but to say "always linked to organized crime" is silly. It is the excuse given for draconian laws against prostitution, but when it is made to not be a crime all of a sudden most criminal elements have no interest in it.

In Florida plenty of politicians and police officers from out of state get busted all the time in prostitution stings. Since it happens so much most go to the Pacific Northwest for action. I really don't know how a man dominated society got to crave in with fear to women's rights groups whom are also Lesbians in. I've noticed in Florida that the same people that do the arresting also do the punishing before a trial. It is crazy that no one notices that. They should fire that sheriff instead of applaud his fundamental incompetence. And no not all prostitutes have pimps in the western hemisphere. Love your post, I agree 200%. How did we get here? We lost our power, these womens rights groups played on our noble sense of guilt and shamed us into a corner. Now we have to come home after a hard days work and put on the apron.

In November, the casino opened at 8 am and closed at 5 am for a short period.

The "free quest" is based on the rate you paid. There is a mark up in room rates to get you the free daily guest. After the free one, the fee is $12.

I was there 3 days, Thursday thru Sunday morning the weekend after Super Bowl. The place was very booked although the restaurant was surprisingly empty in the evenings except for the free breakfast in the morning which was very good IMHO. Much better than the buffet that the SL was throwing at you.

I played poker from 8 pm till about 2 am a couple of nights. It is my understanding the game gets going around 6 ish. The language at the table was Spanish though some of the dealers did speak English and the table was polite to the non or minimal Spanish speaking players (me). Game was good and I won a little bit of money. There were 2 tables running every night and Friday they had 3 tables going. It is basically a 1-2 game although many pots were in the hundreds of dollars (they are playing with Colonies chips BTW). I did inquire about tournaments but they did not have any. There were jackpots for high hands etc. When I left at 2 am, there were still games running. I assume the game will run as long as there are players playing. Maybe somebody who plays more can weigh in if the game closes at a specific time? It was a very well run and friendly game when I played. Several chicas wondered in and out. One sat down at the table bought in for $200 and proceeded to get her clocked cleaned in about 30 minutes and left in a bit of huff. It was actually comical to watch. She was a well endowed bleach blonde who rolled in with two other girls. I'm sure she made it back in a couple of hours upstairs.

Let us look at it this way. Do you go to an American bar and order strawberry margarita every day. When I go on a cruise or tropical vacation that is the first thing I buy. It is the ambience of what we call exotic locations. You spend more to have a good time. Yes you can have a delicious steak cooked and eat at home but the restaurant steak tastes better for quadruple the price.

When you are on vacation you let loose with money. Yes staying home is cheaper. For one thing In America prostitution is supposedly illegal leave few counties in Nevada. In Costa Rica it is legal for legal age girls. I have had best of times in Costa Rica when DelRay was the go to place. Hundreds of very pretty girls. Even though the going rate at that time was below $100 I am guilty of paying more for the GFE company I like.

You know I'll hate to say this but this is coming from an Latino man price and service goes in the opposite direction. As price increase the quality of the service goes down from what I've seen the chicas in Latin America charge gringo prices $100-200 for a rushed visit. And charge the locals on the average $25 but sometimes low as $10. Then again the cartel sets the price and it determined by what you pay in America. In Seattle WA you can pay up to $300 for a rushed full service visit but the average price is $200. I can't see myself paying that type of money for shitty service nor for a one time short visit.

Guys started paying $100 back when the HDR was at the top of its game. Since the Taormina has taken over, the quality has gone down, but the price keeps going up, for shit service and asking for tips.

As long as visiting Gringos keep paying foolish prices, nothing will change. And $200 for a girl at Cocal to just stare at the ceiling, that's even more foolish!

A one off? There are multiple murders every day in San Jose right now, many with this style. The reason there are drugs and drug dealers there is that there are customers there. Not just the prostitutes. So your prediction that it will never happen again. BS my friend. There is no way to predict that shit. At least they don't have that part of town under a 10 oclock curfew like they have had in parts of the city to try to stop the nightly murder rampage. A couple of weeks ago there were 5 in one night in Hatillo and Alajeulita.

Of course there is no way to predict that it will not happen again. It probably will. In fact make that "it will". But that isn't going to prevent me or anyone else here from visiting or staying at the Taoromina. Although I never witnessed any shootings at the Del Rey, etc dating back to about 2010 when I first came to CR. I'm sure there were plenty. And, I certainly remember walking out of the Del Rey at the cab stand entrance and there being a wide variety of Pharmaceuticals products offered by the local vendors at that time.

Although maybe I just ignore it now. I've never been offered anything at the Taoromina aside from a Cialis tablet. Ha. Maybe others have different experiences but I don't look for anything beyond a good poker hand, a cocktail and a great blow job!

Not sure who is hanging out inside, but there is drug dealing around the area there, and the guy getting 19 bullets the other night in front of the front door may have been involved in that. Who knows.

The girl who arranges my reservations at the Taormina tells me the dude who was gunned down was stealing money from a gang of Colombians. He used the money to provide night interest loans for working girls, cab drivers, etc and wasn't paying the money back. The gang encountered the dead dude up nears Sportsman's and he took off running. The gang caught up with him on the street outside the Taormina. It was a happenstance; not related to the hotel itself.

But Taoromina has good security inside the hotel, bar, casino, poker room. It's impossible for them to control every pissed off thug with a gun and a motorcycle that thinks they're in an episode of Narcos.
