    My 2 colones

I agree La Amistad is a very good place to stay and food is very good. Train was a big issue for me when I stayed last year because of the horn at 6:00 am. Didn't care for that at all.

$79 all inclusive sounds good, but I thought breakfast was already included? Also, are there girls there now? They weren't there when I was there. Don't think I'll be there drinking with a bunch of guys in CR. That defeats the whole purpose of going to CR for me. Plus, I'm out wondering around by afternoon. Don't think I'd be going back there just to get my free dinner while I'm on vacation, but hey that's just me. I rather get some discount on the room and call it good. To each his own.

    $79.

Walking distance to sportsmans, del ray, mona lisa.

    Chica friendly.

Armistad is a nice place. I haven't stayed there, but walked through it and have heard several good comments about it. As a first timer and walking, you might look into the Hotel Morazan. If you can get a good room, with no odor, then it's cheaper and closer to everything, I. E. One block to DR, and 2 or 3 blocks to restaurants, supermarkets, pedestrian street. I hear that they are finally starting some more upgrades there, but the night noise is one of the biggest problems, but I handle it fine. Noise from traffic on the street side and from late night bands at Key Largo / Del Mar in the inside rooms. Many guys here say that they will never stay there again for various reasons. I have only had one problem with a room and will not take that room again.

You should get it between $50-$60 / night, with free breakfast, free in-room safe, cable, a /c, free wi-fi (off / on) , no fridge, no guest charges, Beers are about 850c-900c compared to about twice that at DR.

At the Amistad you can almost hit the S. L. With a rock. The Mona Lisa is 4 blocks away. Both are in the Gulch and great places to stay. The $79 all inclusive at the Amistad is hard to beat. I have many clients who have stayed at the Amistad. Not one has complained about train noise. The train is so short, (about 3 cars) you don't notice it. Only hear complaints about the train from people who have not stayed there. I'd give it a try. After the 1st night, if you didn't like the train noise, move to the Sportsman, Mona Lisa or Hotel Little Havana.

Chica friendly with no chica charge. By using the "Search Thread" function on this and the Hotel Recommendations thread, you can find plenty of additional info. Train noise is one factor to consider.

The fact that is 30 ft from train tracks, and the train starts running at 6am and runs every 15minutes from then on. So if you don't like sleep on your vacation then it is the place for you. Or at least that was my experience.

I agree on Hotel Asia, unless it's changed. Stopped by there a few years ago and left.

Anthony, you can take a chica to a short time room called Asia. It's $10 and only a stones throw away from the Rey. Any Del Rey lady knows where it is. For a nicer and longer venue, take a cab to Motel Eden. Jacuzzi tubs, beer and liquor service for about $25 for 4 hours. It's on ruta #32. Again, the ladies and taxis will know where it is.

Interesting! I will have to check this out.
