I was staying at Sportstmen's Lodge in November. Although, all the girls asked for US$100, I negotiated (2) for US$60 (young Ticas) and (1) older "surgically enhanced" Colombiana for US$70. HLH chics range from 5 - 6.5, while Sportsmen's chics range from 6 - 8.

Strip clubs open around 10pm and close around 4:30am. If you don't speak Spanish and are not used to traveling to clubs in Latin America, I wouldn't travel to the strip clubs alone. Nevertheless, if that is not an issue, Pantera Rosa and Le Grillion are recommended (in that order).

There are no short time rooms at SL, primarily because it is nearly always full. I don't see why you couldn't go there, pick up a girl, and take her back to your hotel. I think they would expect you to at least pay for something to eat or drink, and but the chica a drink as well.

I was hangin' out at Hotel Little Havana last week. I spoke with the owner a couple of times. There is no chica fee at HLH. Also, if you are staying at the hotel, the prostitutes that are staffed at HLH are discounted, US$35 an "hour" (1 orgasm, massage, and a shower).

There are (2) ATMs at baggage claim (one is a Scotia Bank ATM). Also, I believe that there is a bank in the airport above. You will get a better rate at an ATM than exchanging money at the F / X counter at the airport. Nevertheless, this does not include any additional ATM fees your bank or the ATM might charge you. You don't need colones at Hotel Little Havana, Sportsmen's Lodge, the Del Rey, or airport taxis (you will be quoted in dollars first at these places). Nevertheless, you need colones about everywhere else. Yes, some stores may be willing to convert for you, but it is advisable that you have colones if you plan to venture out past HLH, Sportsmen's, and the Del Rey.

Taco Bell, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Subway, and Pollo Campero are within walking distance of HLH. Just walk 5 blocks south of HLH until you reach Avenida Central. Nevertheless, after 5pm, take a cab. Cabs in San Jose are very cheap. Just make sure the meter is on and that he isn't "taking you for a ride."
