I was in Costa Rica years ago and am contemplating another trip. Hit many of the places still being discussed, but wondering if Bar Idem is still around? I had a good time there when I visited. I haven't read back through the years of posts since I was there, but don't seem to see much mention of it. Is it gone? Or just gone downhill enough no one is talking about it?

Idem is still there and in my opinion has the highest quality girls of any massage parlor in San Jose. About five blocks down from the Del Rey.

I know you could likely organize an event like that at the Cocpacabana in Jaco or perhaps White House in Escazu.

The Whitehouse was our first hotel, but the owner had a very long history of not honoring his agreements. Then he sold the hotel. I'm absolutely certain we would have lost our deposit in the process. I looked at the Copacabana, but it was too big for our group. Having an all inclusive group of mongers mixing with average guests would have been a recipe for disaster and discord.

Prelude & Planning.

It all started while reading his trip report a while back from a high priced all inclusive. Some members criticized him for paying what he did, while others tipped their hat. I was more curious than anything else. I wondered what justified the pricing involved in these high end resorts charging what they did. I also wondered what mind frame the market for these resorts were coming from. Was it limited knowledge of the mongering world that led them to pay the asking price, or the desire for a hassle-free vacation?

I wrote down on a note pad what my average mongering trip to Havana, Medellin, or San Jose normally costs. Then I compared it to what he had paid. I traded emails with Fletch a few times and one thing led to another.

I told him I thought the trip for his group could be done for quite a bit less than what he was paying. So we agreed to explore the options.

Some are probably thinking about now, 'Is there money to be made in this'? Well, yes and no. If you take out the R&D budget, yes. But while R&D is in my opinion the most fun part of the job, trust me, it's still a job.

First, you need a decent resort that holds the group, then you have to break the news to them that half of your group will be prostitutes. Then you need to explain that there will be some nudity and debauchery taking place in some of the common areas.

Panning for nuggets through the river of rocks takes time and effort. You need to filter out the trouble-makers, mercenaries, bad performers, flakes, and up-sellers. Then you have to convince 15 traditionally unreliable people to show up on time for a bus trip to the resort.

All of this while emphasizing that the transactions would be handled directly, so as to avoid "facilitating" prostitution laws.

There were so many moving pieces, it turned what I thought would be an effortless endeavor into an actual event planner's job.

In the end, it somehow worked out.



The Roster.

Fielding a roster of this size takes work. As I explained, the R&D had to be successful to make the trip worth the ticket price.

This is the most fun part of the job. I spent up any money I made long before completing the selection process. But I can live with that.

The Council.

This is a group that has some outstanding personalities. Most of the council has been on at least one of these trips before. In my opinion, this group would have had a good time anywhere they went.

It starts with Fletch, the catalyst. Then to the core of Thunder Dan, Mr. Sinister, Matty the Horse, One Day Al, the Young American, and onto Frankencock, DNA, Hammer Time, Gran Torino, Doobs, and a few others.

Some of the group have limited vacation time, so it was important to us they have the most fun they could have in the time we had. Some of the antics from this trip still have me laughing.

There is an MVP award, so the stunts a few of the guys pulled to make themselves stand out were hilarious. DNA with his masks and outfits have burned their way into my memory.

Frankencock is a character out of a cartoon. A 6'5 prostate cancer survivor who's non-functioning hydraulics force him to use an injection to induce erections. The side effects, or in this case, primary effect, is that he's stuck with a 4 hour erection. Traumatizing his hostesses into hiding.

I'll get into some of this as the story unfolds.

Away Team.

Among the Council, there was an away team, or executive members. These are Fletch, Thunder Dan, Mr. Sinister, Matty the Horse, and Frankencock.

All but Frankencock, I had met in New York while I was there on business and had the pleasure of a few dinners, cigars, and excellent company.

The away team had arrived several days early. Originally, it was a pre-resort Cuba trip, but airlines schedule changes forced a change of plans.

I had a great time showing the away team around San Jose before the bulk of the council arrived. Also introducing some of our roster to them for the interview process.

First Day. Madness and Stress.

When guys have paid deposits, rented an entire resort, and bought airline tickets. The day everyone needs to show up is extra stressful to the guy charged with making everything happen. I figured the only way to get 15 girls to show up on a Saturday afternoon, was to invite 30. Which I did. I figured if a couple extra showed up, I'd give them $50 and apologize. But it never came to that. Most of the quality showed up with luggage ready and I happily escorted them to the vans for their trip to the beach. A sense of relief came over me when they left.

First Night: Careful what you ask for.

Once we arrived at the resort, more relief came when I saw the guys faces. It seemed they were satisfied with the personnel I had acquired for the trip.

We settled in and prepared for a reception where the guys would pick their girlfriends for the day.

One council member, Doobs, felt he had a special connection with one of the hostesses that warranted overriding the picking order. The decision to tolerate this exception was made. Thankfully, none of the other council members felt this "special connection" and chaos was averted.

First Night: Moving to Defcon 4.

As the first evening got underway, there was a sense that things were going to unfold the way we had planned, or even better. Thunder Dan mentioned this was the best group to date.

I took this as a sign that my work here was done, or at least for the night. So I went to bed to get some badly needed rest.

I was awakened a couple hours later to the news several of the roster members had called it a night as well, without saying good night or asking if their "boyfriends" wanted them to.

I got up and listened to the council member's grievance. One of the hostesses claimed migraine, I'll never know if it was real or not. Another claimed boredom. She mentioned that she had already entertained him earlier, and under no circumstances was she getting out of bed just because he wanted her to. Folks, this is what's known as the other "girlfriend experience".

I informed her she needed to get out of bed, not because he wanted her to, but because I wanted her to. And while she was getting out of bed, she could gather her things for the bus ride back to San Jose. She pouted and agreed that maybe her man did deserve just a little more affection tonight.

Once in the rancho, the guys had arranged a swap of their girls. Hammer was over her, but Mr. Sinister wanted to "punish" her. So a quick discussion with the girls, and the deal was made.

Back to bed.

Second Day: Execution and Reconciliation.

In the morning, Fletch knocked on my door and informed me that not only had Dayana made a stink the night before, but Doob's "special connection" had been replaced by his wanting her dead.

Apparently, she had asked for more money than the agreement and refused to live up to the special connection he believed they had. According to her, the "special connection" involved several pops without a condom.

The whole thing was turning into a he said / she said mess. It was obvious both of them could not stay in the resort at the same time. So we had to ask ourselves "Who in this dispute is paying to be here, and who is being paid to be here"?

So a managerial decision was made by Fletch and I to vote Lianora off the island and have a conversation with the remaining roster to avoid any further confusion.

The expulsion went somewhat smoothly. I gave our lovely mercenary a ride into Jaco to the bus station.

As we called the ladies in for reviews, we explained what the girlfriend experience was according to the council.

This seemed to work for the time being. There was a visible change in the energy the rest of the night. Many of the ladies dressed up for dinner.

Off to bed.

About an hour into my slumber, Thunder Dan and Mr. Sinister wanted to check out the beetle bar in Jaco. So knock on my door they did.

Once I was awake, I drove them into Jaco and showed them around the very slow Beetle Bar, then the slowly picking up Monkey Bar.

Then back to bed.

Third Day: FrankenCock.

I woke up the third day and went to have breakfast.

Apparently while I was asleep, Frankencock had injected himself and was ready for his four hours of fury. But after a bruising first round, his hostess slipped out wanting to "brush her teeth". This set off a round of hide and seek. With Frankencock walking Cock-First around the resort interrogating passers-by as to the whereabouts of his intended victim.

Unable to find his prey during the remaining 3 hours of his erection, he informed Fletch in the morning of his intention to leave early.

This would complicate the numbers / ratio a little, further complicating things, was another council member's decision to bring in a girl he had met in San Jose before the trip.

As Frankencock's taxi arrived, the Frankencock impersonations began.

Fourth Day. Pura Vida.

The literal translation for Pura Vida is Pure Living. But the actual meaning in Costa Rica is "We don't give a shit".

Despite very specific instructions, I had to remind several of our hostesses of the duties they had agreed to. I had to threaten to expel several of them to prompt action. Costa Ricans are lazy as a culture. Many will spend 20 minutes of work to avoid 15 minutes of productive work.

This being said, day 4 went relatively smooth. The weather was very pleasant, and there were no major issues to resolve.

Several of the guys wanted to see the Beetle Bar and Monkey Bar in Jaco at night, so we arranged to get everyone over, and managed to have a decent time.

Last Night: Breaking Out the Pimp Hand.

After returning from Jaco on our last night, the Young American decided to bring a Beetle Bar / Monkey Bar girl home to spice things up.

I knew Pamela from San Jose. She was once a nice girl who would gamble away her money at the Del Rey Casino between clients and go home broke. Now she was doing coke on a regular basis.

In the mongering sport, many guys will eat poison and fight off the anecdote. So I rarely intervene as long as things don't get out of hand.

As Pamela was leaving the Young American's room, she was in a hurry. I told her to have a seat and relax with us while she waited for a taxi. She declined and said she needed to go. I got out of the jaccuzi and told her she wasn't going anywhere until he came out and said everything was ok. Blocking her exit in the process.

Eventually, the Young American came out 3-sheets to the wind and said things were ok.

Who knows what really happened.

Overview and Conclusions:

The all inclusive mongering model is a decent idea for guys with the money, who don't want the hit and miss adventure. My inexperience at this model allowed a little of this in anyway.

There are variations of it in many locations. Places like Oxygen and Viking offer a turnkey solution at a premium. While the Medellin Mansion / Casa Blanca offers a hybrid model.

Guys like me will always be drawn to the wild frontiers of mongering. But I have an honest respect for guys who want to enjoy a nice vacation without the full-contact experience of dealing with hardened putas and scam artists that exist, or learning an entire language for a week long vacation.

I'm grateful for the chance to learn about this other aspect to mongering. The guys were a blast, and the resort was amazing.

I realize there will be some who don't care for this model. It's not something I myself would be a client in, as I like the adventure. But I've learned to see the mongering world through other eyes.

I have stayed there three times, talk with the manager Jorge and request aa 1 bedroom exectuite suite, tell him that your girlfriend will stayover some nights and they will charge you 5 US when you have a girl over. Great place, wifi, plasma wall tv, living room and kition about 75 a night.

The Condominium Suite Hotel “Cristina” is designed to accommodate families, especially those during relocation, business executives, as well as all other individuals or groups that are visiting Costa Rica.

Sounds like a nice place to bring along your mother on your next to Costa Rica. Sounds like a bad place for a bunch of guys with a covoy of hookers from the Del Rey.

My guess is that you might get away with it once, but afterwards will be asked to find another hotel. If the security is at least adequate, then no chance, especially late at night.

Also, that area over by Sabana Park is not known for hotels that like sex tourists.

i am making my first trip to san jose in november. i will be staying at the hotel inca real (long story) , on ave 11 between calle 3 and calle 5. i came across a map from 2005. i was wondering if some of the places near my hotel were still open and if they are worth the visit. it seems most of the discussion on here is about the sportsman / blue marlin. here are the places the map shows near my hotel.

vip's, jet set, doll housefarol rojo, josephines and la bella mansion. i have seen some older post on these places but nothing to recent.

also an opinion and comments on my hotel would be appreciated, especially have a extra guest. once again i found some older post but nothing real recent.

i would say right now the hot places are le grillion and las margaritas at night. they are on the blush map under parque central.

in the area of the inca real check the map for barrio amon. the best places there are krysis, muses and of course hotel little havana, but the later is higher priced $50 and i have not seen as much turn over with the girls. muses used to be bad, but its good now.

i think the most consistently good daytime place is relax, and its on the blush / sexguide map for soledad.

there has five google maps, each for a specific area but they are maybe a year old. most of it is good, but does not include candyland and golden girls on paseo colon, which are both new places that have become popular lately.

I was planning a trip to CR primarily for mongering and some sight seeming but have read too many reports about how unsafe SJ is. So is it very dangerous to roam around in SJ and CR or are these reports exceptions?

Secondly what's going rate for 2 hour incall in my hotel room?

Is it possible to monger without a word of Spanish and without going to bars?
