A one off? There are multiple murders every day in San Jose right now, many with this style. The reason there are drugs and drug dealers there is that there are customers there. Not just the prostitutes. So your prediction that it will never happen again. BS my friend. There is no way to predict that shit. At least they don't have that part of town under a 10 oclock curfew like they have had in parts of the city to try to stop the nightly murder rampage. A couple of weeks ago there were 5 in one night in Hatillo and Alajeulita.

Of course there is no way to predict that it will not happen again. It probably will. In fact make that "it will". But that isn't going to prevent me or anyone else here from visiting or staying at the Taoromina. Although I never witnessed any shootings at the Del Rey, etc dating back to about 2010 when I first came to CR. I'm sure there were plenty. And, I certainly remember walking out of the Del Rey at the cab stand entrance and there being a wide variety of Pharmaceuticals products offered by the local vendors at that time.

Although maybe I just ignore it now. I've never been offered anything at the Taoromina aside from a Cialis tablet. Ha. Maybe others have different experiences but I don't look for anything beyond a good poker hand, a cocktail and a great blow job!

Not sure who is hanging out inside, but there is drug dealing around the area there, and the guy getting 19 bullets the other night in front of the front door may have been involved in that. Who knows.

The girl who arranges my reservations at the Taormina tells me the dude who was gunned down was stealing money from a gang of Colombians. He used the money to provide night interest loans for working girls, cab drivers, etc and wasn't paying the money back. The gang encountered the dead dude up nears Sportsman's and he took off running. The gang caught up with him on the street outside the Taormina. It was a happenstance; not related to the hotel itself.

On a side note, can imagine what you'd get for $25 in the States.

For $25 in the USA, you would get an ugly drugged out working girl who just goes through the motions. I don't know where you live but where I live, there are no $25 working girls. Now, in Costa Rica, for $25, you can have sex with an attractive girl in the casas.

These stories come up at least once or twice a year in Jaco, anywhere in the DR, Medellin.

But Taoromina has good security inside the hotel, bar, casino, poker room. It's impossible for them to control every pissed off thug with a gun and a motorcycle that thinks they're in an episode of Narcos.

I'm trying to figure this one out what's the purpose of paying a hundred bucks for something that's should be cheaper in a 3rd world nation. Most of the locals I meet pay no more than $25 for a chick in Latin America. You can get the same kinda chick in Seattle WA, LA, Oakland or Houston Texas for the same price.

Let us look at it this way. Do you go to an American bar and order strawberry margarita every day. When I go on a cruise or tropical vacation that is the first thing I buy. It is the ambience of what we call exotic locations. You spend more to have a good time. Yes you can have a delicious steak cooked and eat at home but the restaurant steak tastes better for quadruple the price.

When you are on vacation you let loose with money. Yes staying home is cheaper. For one thing In America prostitution is supposedly illegal leave few counties in Nevada. In Costa Rica it is legal for legal age girls. I have had best of times in Costa Rica when DelRay was the go to place. Hundreds of very pretty girls. Even though the going rate at that time was below $100 I am guilty of paying more for the GFE company I like.

Yes, there are local places in shantytowns all over the world where locals get sex cheap. We can afford to splurge and above all we are on vacation.

So, are there gang type crowds hanging out there? CR wasn't on my list of "dodging bullets" places.

Guys started paying $100 back when the HDR was at the top of its game. Since the Taormina has taken over, the quality has gone down, but the price keeps going up, for shit service and asking for tips.

As long as visiting Gringos keep paying foolish prices, nothing will change. And $200 for a girl at Cocal to just stare at the ceiling, that's even more foolish!

The HDR started going downhill when they let Ticos into the Blue Marlin bar; same thing is happening here. What used to be a sports bar that was predominantly visiting Gringos, it's now predominantly Ticos. One of them may be the boyfriend of one of the many girls, who knows. I met one girl in the Taormina who had a 9 mm tattoo on the thigh with the word "Gangsta" above it. Yes, there are gang elements that go in the Taormina. Another, older woman I met in the bar, her sone was killed in a gang shootout. Last, there are drugs sold every night on the street outside the Taormina. I know of American's who go out and make buys.

Loss of Gringo revenue will put that place out of business.

A few years ago one of our members got caught doing that and is serving time in jail.

Just to let you know, while prostitution is legal in Costa Rica pimping or openly providing girls is not.
