    Where is Pamela?

    Hello, Seniors,

After going through this forum it seems Pamela is the girl to watch out for. From the Pics she looks smoking hot and would really want to hook up with her. Do any of you guys know where she hangs out now a days? I am visiting CR at the end of this month. Any information will be appreciated.

    Peace

    DonGordo

Does anyone know anything about DonGordo in San Jose?

He used to post in this forum back in 2002-2005 timeframe.

Does he still visiting San Jose?. I sent him an email via his webpage but do not know if he still active.

If you know anything, please post your reply.

    Thank you,

    Darien

I know the majority of reporting mongers in San Jose...

are, what i like to refer to, as "one hit wonders" in that they come to san jose on "sex trips" in which they spend, usually, a week or less, and very rarely, if at all, leave the "confines" of gringo gulch! many of them look at the mps as "second rate" and don't care or bother with them!

this is for the expats who live in or near san jose(many retired and living on ss and, possibly, a pension!) and, in many case, don't have "money to burn" who rely on the mps to "scratch the itch"! as $60+ plus the cost of a st room would be a financial burden!

as i predicted in my report of april 4th:

"the "soft targets, the smaller p4p bars and the mps are the most vunerable and, i would imagine, if it happens at all, it will start in sj"

    and

"simple equation, of the new police strategy, even if the sex trade is not made illegal, partly or in full, outright:

police raids = patrons become uncomfortable = a reluctance/refusal to patronize = closure!

    i hope i'm wrong!"

but the following article gives credence to my prediction and the new "anti-sex trade" president doesn't even take office until may 8th!

This post belongs in the "Hotel Recommendations" thread. I strongly advise you learn to use the "Search this Thread" function (top of the page, on the right) and do a little reading and research before jumping in with questions that might have already been answered repeatedly. Not trying to give you a hard time -- I realize the subject of hotels has come up lately in this, the Trip Reports thread. My two cents: why pay rip-off chica fees in places like the Sleep Inn? Stay in monger-friendly places like the Sportsmens Lodge, Hotel Castillo, Dunn Inn, La Amistad, or the Hotel Freebird.

Whatever you do make sure your hotel situation is straightened out before you come down. There is alot of bullshit with the hotels and bringing back chicas.

If you are on a budget of $45/60 I highly recommend hotel el castillo (list section). This is probably one of the very few places in san jose that is affordable and down with the program(minus the dumps).

IMHO forget about all the US bullshit and the american chains. You will most likely get screwed in some way.

I have alot to say but I am on a roll and will report once I gather more info.

    * You need to buy a senior membership to get the really good info. If your trip means that much to you pay the $19.95 to jackson.

As an alternative you might check out the Royal Dutch Hotel and Casino about 5 blocks up the street ( 2nd Ave.). Their rooms go for about $ 60-65.00...but sometimes the night manager (a guy....don't bother talking to the girls during the daytime) will let you in for $ 40.00 for cash.

Its not the area that bothers me. I actually like the grit. Like I said the rooms are
    Pretty gross.
    The casino sounds interesting though.

    Thanks

Went around looking at other hotels in a similar price range. Many of them offer shared bathrooms and * windows that arenīt really windows just glass venitian blinds if that makes sense. You canīt close anything because there IS NO window so to say just flaps. Bottom line is you are in a room with no noise protection.

There are hotels with rooms with windows that face inside the hallway but they feel rather warm with stale air.

My conclusion is that of other posters...you either pay to play or you sleaze it in low end rooms.

I like plaze hotel. They seem the best around for the price but they want to charge me $10 a visit.

*** My question is " If I plan on doing low end mps and SW types I probably wont be bringing them to my room anyways...right ?" Im usually an on site guy but for the right price I will do hotel action $50 and under.

*** If you can change a little money at the airport it would serve you well if you dont have another immediate option. I waited until I arrived in town and had to wait an hour at banco costa rica to get change. I would have much rather lost a few dollars at the airport...just something to think about.

A few locals told me that cambios are not a safe option because they try to rip you off. In that case maybe a debit card is a better option than cash. After all the lines for the banks are sick. Besides offering normal banking people use banks to fill out immigration forms pay taxes or all kinds of other shit that takes up time with only two tellers working...sick!

*** What is the deal with the centro and street girls or chica bars ? Ive been walking around this afternoon and I like the feel of the centro (very gritty) but I dont see a "zona". Is there a zona like in medellin or zona norte in TJ and where? Where do the locals go to get laid ?

I cant really say much more. People are friendly but YOU need to make the first move with alot of respect...patience for gringos is at a minimum here. You need to prove yourself worthy of a conversation.

My driver from the airport was really friendly coming in then when I saw him eating at a restaurant he wouldnīt even say hello. Thats how it goes here I guess.

Iīm still looking for gringo gultch. I hope I dont fall in it.

Please help hotel plaza or no ?

    Thanks,

gringo gulch is a large area of downtown san jose. if you are at the del rey or key largo you are in the middle of the gulch. there are a couple of walking blvds (no cars drive along the road) avienda central and calle centro as well as another south of central. down the street from the presidente and balmoral on on av central is a hotel el maragato i have stayed here for years about $45-55 night chica friendly. to get around is easy as the area is a grid. av run east to west and calle (street) run north to south. from av cental going north av are 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 sl and new fantasy are on av 11. from av central south av are even 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. 12. from calle centro east is odd and west is even. street signs are on the buildings. there are zones at nights for sw most i have seen are tv or very poor quality or ****. on calle 4 between av 7 and av 9 there is a gray building with number 747 and a pink and purple building next door these are tico places. one block south of dr is the ny bar not exactly tico, price is dependant upon your ability to negotiate. if you pm me i have a map you cab also get it at crt or don gordo that will help you get around. it is out dated but it is a starting point.

    Hotel suggestion

I need some help with a hotel selection.

I usually stay at the Irazu Best Western hotel in the past. They have got very tight with bring ladies back to the hotel.

I have also stayed at the Barcelo San Jose Palacio which is near the Irazu but I have never brought a lady back to the hotel when I have stayed there.

I like the area because that is where most of my business companies are.

Does any one know if the Barcelo is GF?

There is also the Courtyard and the Residence Inn in the area. Does anyone know about these?

    Please let me know.

    Hey Mike,

I would have preferred to send you a PM on this, but you have to purchase a subscription on the international site for that apparently. I'm a newbie to the international game, but have senior status on the Las Vegas threads for what it's worth. I was curious as to what it's like scoring some smoke in Costa Rica? No one wants any trouble with that, especially in a foreign country, but I hear from some it's a pretty laid back situation over there, others say differently. If it's pretty relaxed, that would make the vacation that much better for me. Don't want to make any waves in the forum, but any broad details on this? Talk to someone at your hotel or walk the beach kind of thing? Any do's and don'ts, I'd appreciate it. Of course don't try and bring anything home. I'm planning an extended trip for the end of the year to break myself into the international game, but like you, all my friends are broke, so I'll be going solo and keep myself better company when I can smoke. Thanks!

    La Amistad

I've stayed at La Amistad before and will stay there again in May. It is right up the block (up the hill) from the SL - very easy walk. It is also not far from HLH and New Fantasy and is close to some decent restaurants. The DR is about a 10 minute walk, easily doable during the day, but take a taxi at night. The owner of La Amistad is a good guy. The prices are reasonable. The rooms are fine. The free breakfast is good. I liked the new bar he opened. I understand they now serve lunch and dinner, but that happened after I last visited. And the hotel is chica-friendly - no fees.

    Thread Cleanup

    Greetings Everyone,

I recently cleaned up this thread by deleting a number of off-topic and otherwise pointless posts, as well as a number responses made by other forum members to these deleted posts.

This cleanup process is not perfect, and it's possible that I may have inadvertently deleted a few otherwise legitimate posts. If you find that your own report was also deleted, please don't take it personally.

    Thanks,

    Jackson

I remember seeing Citibank billboards all over San Jose, so I'm pretty sure there are branches there. The only good place at the airport to exchange money at the prevailing rate is the bank on the arrivals level near where you pay your exit tax, but I don't think they open until 6am. DO NOT use any other currency exchange booth, as they will fleece you big time. If you get there too early for this, don't worry about it, as dollars are readily accepted by taxi drivers and everybody else. I'd offer $20 to the taxista (no more) to take you to your hotel. If you don't want to mess with any banks on your first day after waking up, the ATM at the Del Rey is reliable and fair, costing about $1.50 per withdrawal.

Drinks cost the same for both guys and gals at the Blue Marlin, Key Largo and Sportsmens, and are reasonably priced, more or less. The drinks at the Hotel Little Havana are way more expensive, however, so watch out!
