I take profit once again of your knowledge for one more question: in Costarica (and Panama) for us europeans is better to carry euro or dollar? Frequently in Latin America (but not in Brazil and Argentina) the euro is undervalued by the casas de cambio or banks and underpaid vs dollar or local currency. Your suggestion?

Just to throw in my two cents. The particular bartender you are probably talking about does not f**k guys for money. Thats according to your description and who I am thinking about. Not to say that no bartender in the history of the BM hasn't. But its usually the exception.

As far as dating one of them, a buddy of mine's dated one a couple of years ago (this includes going back to her pad, banging and sleeping over in her townhouse). She insisted that it is not the norm for her or the majority of the bartenders to do that. But he dated her during a couple of different trips before tagging that ass. So don't think its as simple as showing up and and throwing one liners, and she's good to go. For the record, she does not work there anymore.

As for me, I have have dated one as well, and I will be seeing her in the near future, as I plan to head to CR soon. Don't know if its a factor or not, but maybe the fact that my buddy and I are hispanic. Helps a bit in influencing the ladies down south.

But again, anything is possible in any bar, any city, and in any country. Go figure, never did I ever think that I would be hooking up with one of the bartenders when walking into the BM.

Last time I was there, I heard the bartenders commenting about "how good looking he is". Of course, they weren't talking about me :-) I looked around and noticed that the object of their attention was a very young, good looking Latino. One of the bartenders said "he's just what the doctor ordered", and another bartender told her "if you go with him for free, I'm sure it could arranged". The bartender in lust replied "oh no, asi de ninguna manera". That's like our "no phucking way Jose".

Personally, if I see any of those bartenders in the streets, I wouldn't recognize them. To me, they are just there to hand me the drinks. There's enough available attractive ladies on the other side of the bar for me to choose from. Most of the time it's our excesive attention what makes them almost unattainable, like in giving them big tips (even when the price of the drink already includes the tip!) trying to impress them. It won't work. The most we give them, the least they need us!

I couldn't walk away from the main bar with a hard on one night watching the gal with the long dark hair and boobs to die for. She was so busy I didn't have the opportunity to converse with her. I think you will find that the bartenders at the Del Rey/Blue Marlin have perhaps been instructed by the management not to encourage or get involved with the customers (mongers).

Maybe if you could meet one of them off-hours then you might be able to do some good with them - but from my experience I have not seen any of them wanting to hook up with any of the customers.
They may have specific orders from management for this - or it may be sort of an unofficial attitude on their part - but in any rate - usually they seemingly do not fraternize with the customers.

You will do better to set your sights on the regular P4P gals and forget about having sexual sessions with any of the bartenters in the Del Rey - BM or Key Largo......although if a "shot was possible" then I think you might have better luck trying to persuade one of the Key Largo bar gals to cozy up with you......in my experience - at least they seem a little more approachable.

Maybe there are others who have more information on this - and if so - perhaps you would care to weigh in on this subject ...........

Regarding picking up bartenders I personally would forget about it. I have heard that they are considered very high class and usually have very rich boy friends. An average monger would just be spinning his wheels trying to get to first base.

I would think it is like trying to find pornstars for sex in the US. They are there but cost an arm and a leg. For the money you could do 10 really hot girls. Just my opinion though.

For myself, ss a future resident of the Central Valley area, being aware of the subjects you write about is invaluable as they include places, names, prices and services(however, without drifting into some distracting, Penthouse Forum-like description of how different parts of sexual activity are performed and/or at what intensity level!).

I am "text booking" different reports that will be of value to me when I begin to monger in San Jose and, thus far, your reports make up about 80% of its content!

Strip Clubs

Didn't have any luck at the Strip Clubs this trip. The selection at Pantera Rosa was not as good as past trips. Went to Dpelufo(San Pedro location) on a Sunday night at around 9:45pm but it was closed. From what I was told though, this place won't appeal to me anyway. Apparently the dancers are hot but they want $100 U.S. to session on the premises. A lot of guys go for the lesbian show and to get the girls' phone number to hook up outside the club for less $. If any of this appeals to you check it out and write a report.
