    San Jose

It is my first night back in San Jose.....from being here a year ago.

I am at the Del Rey Hotel now, and walking around to see the sights.

It is a Wed. night....about 9 PM, but there are about half of the people here that I am used to seeing from a year ago.

Guess the economy has had an effect on the number of Gringos coming here.

I have seen a few old times....gringos who are living here, and they are still here.

Tonight there are about 30 guys ....gringos here in the Del Rey....and perhaps about 40 of so p4p gals working.

Dont know about the current prices for a session...but I suspect that the gals are still quoting Cien.....a hundred bucks.

Planning on going to a couple of my old favorite massage parlors tomorrow....will report more later.

Taxiś seem to have gone up in price some........ but I usually take the buses, so that does not have much effect on me.

Weather here is moderate.....perhaps about 72 or 74 degreed F.....tonight, and of course there was rain earlier this afternoon.

I have been coming to San Jose for about 5 years, and have an inexpensive hotel which to stay in which is less than $ 20.00 a night....but they do not have any air conditioning.....I wish someone would clue me into a nice place to stay for say $ 20.00 a night that was not to far out of town, had AC and was fairly safe and secure.

Anybody know where a place like that is.....it does not have to be particullary Chica friendly....as I seldom want to take a gal up to my hotel.

If it's your very first time in CR, for sure, stay at the Sportsmen's Lodge or the Hotel Del Rey. SL has girls on the property much of the time. The Hotel Del Rey is ground zero.

The digs at Hotel Del Rey are a little used and it can be a little noisy. THe digs at Sportsmen's Lodge are really nice and new.

The other hotels mentioned by another poster are for taking your dates back for a session, they do not have girls on the property.

I never saw a question from you. What info do you need? Or are you just reading? If you asked a specific question here, I would say your would get a lot of replies.

The CRT board is for San Jose, San Jose, and nothing but San Jose. Those guys love it like frat house. They live and breathe the gulch. While I like the gulch and have been many times, like others I have realized there is no there there and read this fab board instead about places far more interesting to a veteran monger.

Ask a question if you want intel. Most every single question has already been replied to and a simple search will provide a wealth of intel.

Mr. FredA, I don't want to insult a "newbie" but...

If there was ever a "custom" response of RTFF it was for you!

Please avail yourself and read backwards though this thread as well as the "General Info" and the "San Jose Clubs, Bars and Massage Parlors" threads and this will answer your questions!

For pricing quoted in colones, assuming that you are an American, just be aware the current rate of exchange is 1USD = 577CRCs.

    Rates

What are the rates for girls. I haven't been to CR in 7 years. Do they still have the massage spots. If so how much? What is the rate to have a girl all night?

    Old timer suggestion: Stay home.

The holidays are a waste of time for mongers.

    The town is dead.

Jackson is cool with a mention of a site called Costa Rican Chic.

    Great info on other places

Yes. Less gringos and less girls (in the delrey) my last trip was great! About a month ago look like there trying to keep the fat ass girls out of the delrey and send them over to the key largo.

As far as posting. I think most guys that go to san jose post on the crt. Once a member here goes to san jose and stays around the gulch, most find someone who will tell them about crt. And they stop posting here. I love this site but for san jose its not what it once was. Great posters like chase star was chased out of here, never to post again. Member 2666 always posted great photos but has stopped as well.

As for myself I check in every other day but have stopped posting.

Where Have All The Gringos Gone

The airlines and the Chicas in Costa Rica must be lementing the down turn in the US economy as this forum is lacking in reports from guys going down to CR.

Where is everybody ? Too busy to report, or you just staying at home.

Not like the good old days just a year or so ago...when CR was filled with Gringos.
Well maybe that will be good for the rest of us who are still going to Central America.....less competition (from ourselves) .should help to drive the prices down some. And Costa Rica could certainly use some of that......

I seriously doubt you have spent much time perusing this excellent resource. As far as whether the $39 annual cost for VIP membership is worth it for those mongers who only venture to Costa Rica once a year or so, it pretty much depends on where you chose to stay. For those who chose to stay for more than a couple of days at places like the Sportsmens Lodge, La Amistad, Hotel Little Havana, Hotel Castillo, Dunn Inn, or the Hotel Freebird, membership cost will, at the VERY least, prove to be a wash. For example, suppose one opts to stay for a week in the new wing of the Sportsmens Lodge (a wise decision), in a room such as Amante costing $89 a night or $623 a week, before tax. CRT VIP membership will automatically lop $62.30 off the weekly bill. And this doesn't include the 10% discount on every drink and meal consumed at their fine bar.

For those that enjoy sessioning off the street at Hotel Little Havana, the CRT VIP membership discount will lop about $7 off the price of every session. Discounts also apply for those who chose to stay at the HLH.

I am a proud member of both the ISG and CRT who travels to CR 3 or 4 times a year. I am not a paid shill for CRT, just a somewhat budget-conscious monger aware enough to recognize and take advantage of a good deal. Full disclosure: I took advantage of a CRT promo a couple of years ago and purchased a lifetime VIP membership for $100.
I agree with you. I bought the CRT membership for my maiden trip and it was well worth it with all the info I read and the discounts at Hotel Little Havana and Hotel Castillo more than paid for my membership. The members I met from the board at Sportsman's Lodge were also pretty cool and helpful also.

Having been in San Jose over Christmas and New Years, I have to basically agree with what was said above.....both times are not big party times in CR.

Over Christmas most of the gals will be with their families for most of the week.....family time - stay at home - not working.....and probably ditto over New Years Eve too.

So parties are likely not to be attended by many young women during either of those times.

You could perhaps find a P4P gal to hang out with you in San Jose.....or to go with you to the beach for a couple of days over Christmas or New Years.....but be prepared to pay quite a bit extra during those holiday times, as that is mostly 'down time' from work for them.
