Its gotten to the point that after a night at BM / KL I just soak my cloths just to get rid of the smoke smell.

Thankfully most nights I session and get the smoke off me and her before hitting la cama.

The government has just stated to premote non smoking. If its like any other law thats talked about or passed in CR, it will be long after our lifetimes that any change occures.

But I was there a few weeks ago, and this is my report:

Things are about the same all over as they have been for years except the price has gone up a bit - IN GENERAL, not always specifically.

The Blue Marlin is still jumping on Thursday night and I presume the weekend though I was just there on a Wed and Thur. The selection of girls is about the same, I guess, as it has always been. It might be that there are less great looking girls now than before or else it may be that I am just jaded.

Fewer seem willing to just come over and talk for awhile. Like strip clubs in the states, it seems the m.o. now is to get right to business and ask if you want company and if not they are out of there. There was a time when they would be willing to just sit and talk over a drink for a bit before hitting you up for the "deal". Of course this still can happen, it just seems to me it's not as common as it once was. I like to talk to the girls a bit and then decide, I'm not a "choose quick and go" guy.

Key Largo was about the same too. It gets going after the music starts. The first room you enter from the BM side is always full of about 80% or more fat and/or ugly chicks. But sometimes a gem is found in there, almost by accident it seems. The other rooms tend to fare better in KL, especially around midnight to 2am.

Zona Blue or now Little Havana has lost some sparkle for me. I hate cigar smoke. I just find it a dumb macho habit that causes cancer to those who smoke and to those who have to breathe their secondary smoke. I hope the cigar aspect of LH is not successful and it reverts back to just a regular bar, where there is always more than enough smoke, in any case. Go ahead and flame me for my anti-smoking stance, I expect it. I have never and will never like being around smoke, and cigar smoke is the worst.

As to the girls at ZB/LH there were about 12 all in all when I went in, probably around 5-6pm, and a few were pretty nice. I ended up not getting one because the 2-3 I was interested in got grabbed by a guy who was having a birthday and so took about 7 girls back to a room. So it goes. First come, first served. He must have had a great birthday party! I left disappointed because there was no one else there I wanted to session with.

But aside from the cigar thing, I do like the bigger size of the new LH bar. And I guess $3 for a beer isn't bad, but be careful what brand name liquor you ask for - a guy next to me ordered something and was charged $11 for it! He was shocked and said next time he'd know to ask. Said it's much less than that in the states. Best to just drink beer since I think mixed drinks in there are now $4-5 each. I didn't go look at the new rooms as I am not that interested in staying there at this point. I'll keep checking out the talent at LH, though I doubt it will ever be as fun a place to go as it used to be, for me.

I stopped in at NF and had a look - same old bored looking girls with "don't pick me" on their faces for the most part, and not that great looking either. By the way, the "don't pick me" was not based on me specifically because I stayed behind the mirror. I don't like the whole mirror thing, though; I like to have a girl come up to me at a bar and talk to her a bit before going back to a room - UNLESS I happen to see someone who is "just my type" physically, sitting there, then I sometimes am willing to just pick her and take my chances. In this case, and in the past few years when I've stopped in for a look at NF, that did not happen. There was a time 3-4 years ago when I did find a couple in there I really liked, though, so you never know.

So the first night I was tired from a big fiasco with my flight that I won't go into, suffice it to say I didn't get into town until around 8pm instead of the 9:30am it should have been. So I wasn't really up for much action. But my old standby Dominicana walked in and I ended up going back to the room with her for a nice massage and etc. She's a sweet girl and very accommodating and I always go with her once during a trip if I see her, and she gives me a good price. So that was pretty good.

Then the next night I saw this blonde with one of the cutest faces I've seen for a long time and I started talking with her. She claimed to be 20, from Venezuela and to be new at this business - only 10 days or so at it as I recall; but she came here because the economy in her town in Ven. was very bad and she - of course - has a child back there to support. I tend to believe she was at least relatively new because she was very nervous in the bar. I finally talked to her about that and then she loosened up. After awhile I made my deal ($70 or $75 as I recall) and we went back to my room. She gave me a cbj and we played around a bit. She was really into getting banged HARD FROM BEHIND, so that was kinda fun. I gave it to her so hard and long my knees were so tired I could hardly walk. She seemed to enjoy it and so did I; she banged back if you know what I mean. But she lacked a certain something in bed, not sure exactly what; just a little too reserved aside from the doggy style hard banging. But it was worth it for the excitement of seeing a face and body that really turned me on in the bar, and then getting to take her back to my room. Something great about that!

Later I went over to KL just to have a drink and look-see, and some short little Nica who was a little cute but not cute enough to pay for started asking me to dance with her. I told her I was NOT interested in sex tonight, that I'd already had mine. She insisted on dancing with me anyway so I obliged. Well, long story short, she started telling me she had a child back in Nica who needed a $5K operation, and then started hitting me up for money. "Just $20 to hang out with her and dance". I said no. Then, "Just $10 for a cab home". At that point I just left, over her objections. I don't like being begged and pressured for money, for nothing, even charity. If she really wanted some dough she could have offered to give me bj for $20 or something like that. But really, she didn't even turn me on much and I didn't like the way she was working me.

Moral of the story: when a chick starts in with the "I desperately need $" bit, get the hell out of there.

All in all I had a good enough time during my 2 nights in San Jose. Not one for the record books, but it wasn't bad. Hopefully tomorrow and Thur will be better.

After almost 10 years of mongering in Prague I decided to try a closer venue with a reasonable exchange rate. Costa Rica and specifically San Jose became my target of operations. After reading the excellent information on this forum and one other I decided to stay in San Jose at the Del Rey.

Before getting to the Del Rey and Key Largo, I would like to give my impressions of Zona Blue, New Fantasy and Sportsmen's Lodge. When I walked into ZB late one afternoon it was full of drunk gringos smoking cigars who were generally loud and quite obnoxious. To make matters worse, the available women were average or less. They also looked bored and annoyed by the loud drunken gringos. Also, Pamela was not available so I took off.

I then went to NF and it wasn't much better in terms of available girls. I have to say that the hostess, Suzanne, was very charming I would have done her but of course this isn't possible.

I then went to Sportsmens Lodge and it was very quiet. I was there late afternoon and there were only a few women available. I spoke with one girl and when I began to leave she asked me for 6,000 Colones for dinner. I respectfully declined.

The Del Rey and Key Largo were outstanding. The hotel was nice and very comfortable. The hotel staff was very helpful and there was security everywhere. The thing that struck me about the Del Rey was that even in the morning and afternoon there are women everywhere and some real lookers on top of it. At night the Del Rey and the bars are loaded with women and the Blue Marlin in particular. I noticed that when the girls walk into the Del Rey they have to present their ID or surrender their passport to one of the security guards. Also, the women take up positions all around the lower level so you can move around to survey the possibilities. This was a target rich environment to say the least. Similar to Darlings or K5 in Prague but a lot less expensive.

To me, however, the best thing was to go across the street around 10:30 PM to Key Largo. This is basically a dance place with many, many girls there by 11 PM. Great bands every night. I finished just about every night there drinking, dancing and settling on my Tica for the night. When I finally decided on one which was usually around 1AM it was back to the Del Rey where the Tica presented her ID to security and we were off to the 5th floor until the sun came up.

In summary, I had no luck at ZB, NF or Sporstmen's. The Del Rey and Key Largo in particular were excellent and are as good or better than any place I've been to in Europe - and I've been to a lot of them. As far as Slavic girls vs. Latina girls, I like them both and they have their own special and unique qualities.

I'm going to be down there on the 10th and in SJ through the 11th, then it's out to no man's land, (I mean, "no women" land)(I mean "no women for rent" land) for a few weeks, then back to San Jose for a couple nights...

Hopefully it will improve at ZB as far as talent goes, by the time I am there for my return to SJ. I am skeptical that ZB will ever return to its hey days, I think the new owners and the renovation is a sign of a bad change... I'm guessing either prices will go up too high and/or talent will go down too low...
but that's just my intuition, and I hope I'm wrong...

I can always find fun somewhere around SJ so I'm not that worried, but I just really liked the way ZB has been the past couple years and I'm afraid of change...

Well, I took a leap of faith and came up huge. Like all hot colombians, she was from Meddillen and her name was Adriana. Took her back to my room at the Morazan and she tore me up. I had been in Arenal the previous two nights and there was zero action there so I had to make up for lost time. She wasn't a clockwatcher, she was smoking hot, personable, and phenominal in the sack. If i had met her earlier in the week she probably would have ended up in Arenal with me.

I know this Adriana and she is amazing. I first me her three years ago during my first trip to Costa Rica. I had a threesome with her and her friend, a schoolteacher from San Carlos. Adriana was definitely the better half of that duo.

Met year again last year and she remembered me! We had a one-on-one session and it was AWESOME! She was personalable and danced naked with me to music on the radio. So I just got home from a most painful flight back to the states that was six hours late and i'm exausted but i figured I'd give a brief reporting of the San Jose scene before I drift off. Did the full tour yesterday starting at Zona Blue at around 6. There were maybe ten girls in the bar area 2 of which were in the 7 to 8 range then a couple of 4's and 5's. It's gonna take some time to get the quality of the staff back to where it was before the closing but have a little faith in Eddie and the boys. I did get to meet one half of the sister team but she was snatched up before i even blinked. Heard the other one was up in one of the suites but I never saw her. Got a tour of the new wing and I must say it looks great. i think they have 8 new rooms all done with plasma TV's mirrored walls and ceilings and some of which have glass enclosed showers that you can look in from the bedroom. The new rooms will be open this coming week. I believe that they are gonna be $145 a night if i remember correctly with $20 girl pricing per hour. I did not partake in the festivites being that I really didn't see anything worth while and i knew it would be a long night.

Next we took a quick pass by new fantasy. Talent again was lacking but I saw 2 really hot ones going into the back as we were coming in. There were 6 girls in the boite none of which I would give over a six.

Then it was a quick walk up the street to the Sportsman's Lodge. I had never been there before and I tried to stay on both my way into and out of costa rica but they were booked. I was pleasantly surprised by how many quality girls were in there. The Giants game was on and i would say there were at least 30 girls and probably 5 or 6 would grade out at 8 or higher. We had dinner, watched a little football, then headed for the Del Rey.

First let me start this out by saying that Brazil will always be at the top of my list but Thursday night at the Del Rey around ten o'clock was probably the single best showing I'd ever seen in 5 years there. There was hot tica ass, nica ass, dominicana ass, and as always Colombian ass. Last Thursday on my first night in CR at the DR I picked up an 18 year old Tica named Pamela. Didn't know she was 18 but once we got to my room it showed. Sex was pretty blah. She was really cute and she hangs out with her BFF blonde tica friend but i would definitely advise a pass on her.

In comparision to San Jose, I was really dissapointed in Jaco and most noticably, The Beetle Bar. The quality was pretty shitty and the new blacked out windows make the place so dark, you can't even see what your talking to. Even with the windows, there's no air conditioning and it's hot as shit. They are playing all club music now, no more rock and roll. I heard the place is for sale again. Maybe someone can return that place to it's former greatness. On a positive note, met three of the five new owners of new Monkey Bar. Two of them are from NY. The new name is the Funky Monkey and it should be open next month. Got a tour and the place looks like it's gonna be a hot spot again. They put a dance floor over the bar where they are going to do Wet T shirt contests and shit like that and they're in the process of builing a VIP room with plasma's off to the side. Hopefully the season will bring the return of the talent to the beach. Well I'm definitely crashing but if I think of anything else, I will add it in later.

Haha, you're so right about not seeing anything inspiring at New Fantasy. The quality at Zona Blue or Hotel Little Havana as it is called now is way better. Also the girls at NF don't seem very interested and look bored most of the time. At ZB the girls flash you and lick each other right in the bar. Much more livelier atmosphere. I'm sure you will find something even though you are in an area with no action.

While you're definitely correct that the CR Mongers public enemy #1 is VP Laura Chinchilla, this latest move came from the San Jose CITY government, not her. The lady VP is probably still indirectly involved, just not in the way you suggest. The truth is that she and San Jose Mayor Johnny Araya, who directed the raids, are actually bitter political rivals who are competing to be President Oscar Arias's successor. VP Chinchilla railing against prostitution does get a lot of attraction among many elements of CR voters and Mayor Johnny probably had to do SOME thing, even if it was just token, to innoculate himself against charges that he wasn't doing anything about it.

Incidently, I've been very impressed with everything else that Mayor Johnny has been doing in SJ. Okay, all those vacas are a bit hokey, but the new Avenida 4 pedestrian walkway is looking really good (and free of cracks, holes and dropoffs), and he's also been making efforts (some more effective than others) to deal with traffic congestion, crime, street peddlers. There is even talk about putting in street signs all over SJ. Talk about hell freezing over.

I DON'T KNOW for certain, but I strongly suspect that this is just a phase among many other similar ones that have happened several times in the past and will probably happen again from time to time in the future. Unless that stuck-up feminist b*tch somehow manages to beat the mayor for the Presidency (hopefully unlikely), then I suspect things will pretty much go back to what they've been like once he's elected and we'll all look back on the events of recent weeks as a small momentary price to pay to help get "our guy" elected.

Anyway, that's my personal take on the situation. I hope I'm correct, but I certainly could be wrong (its also been known to happen from time to time).

Thanks Norman and Lancer for the fresh info, and Prolijo, thanks to you for the San Jose/Costa Rica political analysis. You must live there or stay there a lot? I am working on that myself, and with some luck may be down there permanent in a year or two...

Anyway, I hope you're right about things getting back to normal soon, and I surely DO hope that c**t VP does not get elected! Man, that could really be ugly! I can't imagine Costa Rica electing a woman Prez though...

I would prefer NF, too, if I had a regular there. When I first went there years ago I met a girl there who I was totally "in love" with, she was awesome, but then every time I went back she was never there. If she was there, now, I'd also make NF a favorite hang out.

As for ZB, even though it is approaching the cost of girls at the BM and KL, I still like it because it's your basic "no hassle" solid one hour experience and I've never been too disappointed by anyone I've chosen there. (Admittedly I do have a method and knack for picking them.)

I like that they allow the girls to come over to you at the bar in ZB, unlike IDEM where they do not. Some guys like IDEM for that reason, but I'd rather fend off the girls I am not interested in than to have them all sitting along the wall like at IDEM where you can't see them well nor interact with them very well. That's why I don't usually get many girls at IDEM, it seems hard to get a rapport going with the girls there (though not impossible). That's another reason I don't like NF - the mirror deal, no bar... I prefer to interact with the girls at least a bit before choosing one.

Good to hear ZB is getting back in the swing of things again, and I will definitely check out La Gatita and maybe that other place someone mentioned that I have never heard of. I admire those who go to these "off the grid" places. I've generally had little success with such places so I seldom bother, but its true, sometimes you can find a great deal at some of those places.
