I visted both Taormina and Jaco a few months ago. At Tao 150, then settle on 100. At Cocal, its 200, and settle on 150.

It was my first time at Tao. The ladies there exuded desperation and were not my cup of tea. But what WAS notable was the quality of the rooms. Very nice for what you pay. The bed was fantastic -- definitely made with their clientele in mind. With the casino and town nearby, I would definitely stay there again.

Also beware, there seems to be a new pact at Cocal that the girls have "agreed to" amongst themselves. Take their clothes off, lie on the bed, and ask for the advance. It happened with every girl I met there. It was really annoying and a mood killer. Then they later ask you for a 50 tip.

Fellas, before you start the walk to the room, be sure to specify and agree that the donation is made AFTER.

After the experience on that trip, I won't be going back. SJ just isn't what it was. It all just seemed played out. Going to check out new frontiers.

Even though we travel all the way down there, we still hold the cards. Do not give in to nonsense. I wish this was required reading for all dudes going to SJ and Jaco. But reality is many go without ever researching online and pay insane amounts because they are on a bachelor party and think any attractive woman willing is worth whatever they ask. Sad but true. The dudes that visit once will inflate costs. Do not give in, discounts present themselves with patience.

The word is that if you agree to pay an extra $10 a night for your room at the Taormina, then you don't have to pay extra every time you bring a girl up. This is important for all CR mongers to remember. On the other hand, I understand that there are no chica fees at the Cocal in Jaco whatsoever. But then again, the nightly room rates there are higher too than at the Taormina. A starting asking price from the girls of $200 is disheartening, and I'm not inclined to pay that. I understand that it is possible to negotiate, and that many girls will accept less. We shall see!

I'm about 50% complete with my research. August will be my firsr to CR. For many reasons, Sportsmen's Lodge feels like the right spot for me. I rarely do this but I used YouTube to get a feel for SL. I dislike Passport Bros and generally find YouTube to be a waste of time for my research purposes. And maybe this is the wrong way to look at it. But as far as the feel, the vibe, the process, would you say SL is similar to BB in the DR? Or maybe the Mansion in MDE? I'm not talking about the quality of the girls, as that is fairly subjective. But I'm getting the feel that it's a hotel with decent enough accomodations with girls onsite, very monger friendly staff. In the videos I saw, two things stuck out. It's fairly large and maybe it's just the videos I saw but the men seem to outnumber the women.

I really need to do more research for daytime options. My normal MO in other countries is to find nice massage places during the day. So my hope is SL is a nice place to party with the chicas at night. I'm only planning for maybe 4 nights on my first trip to CR.

I started staying at the Lodge more than 10 years ago. Had some great times there. The place has gone completely sideways in the last couple of years. From cancelling confirmed reservations at the last minute (bc me for more details) to charging insane prices for Super Bowl Parties with terrible food and cheap liquor this past year. It has been beyond disappointing. The girls that hang out at the bar are a pack of abuellas now.

I made the switch this year to the Taormina, girls are better, food in the restaurant is better, the bar staff has really turned a corner on treating customers right from past years and the rooms are decent and reasonably priced. Plus if you're a poker player there is usually two good tables going on the weekends.

The S L is a hotel with a large bar / restaurant area, and is a good place to stay and lots of girls come and go, as long as they are not banned for some reason. Fine at night or in the daytime, and the number of girls there varies a lot, and when sports events etc. Are on there certainly are a lot more men there, but it is a sports bar crowd at times so there are lots of chicas for those who have a room there, or want to take them somewhere else. I eat there a lot, and hang out with friends there and almost never pick up a girl there, but there are lots and it's a great atmosphere. I'm not currently a guest there but that's not a problem, it is my go to place when I'm in San Jose.

This whole scenario screams SCAM to me. Sammon is absolutely correct: NEVER book someone you have never met for an entire week without a test drive. Don't know who these "other girls" you heard from are, but I consider $400 for an overnight to be far too high for a knowledgeable monger to pay in CR, even in Jaco.

I have not been to BB but SL is only vaguely similar to 'Casa Blanca' in MDE. Both are houses somewhat awkwardly cut up into rooms. In both places, the rooms vary in quality and selection is pretty important. This is reflected in the price much more at SL than at Casa Blanca, where last I heard, all rooms were the same price and the better rooms were first come, first serve. A couple of the rooms at the mansion are shared bathroom situations but none at SL.

The mansion serves breakfast, but has no restaurant, an important difference. SL serves food all day, decent food in fact, has a pool table, a crappy gym, a reading room, etc. The mansion has a bar with ever changing policies that is operated as a separate business.

Also, SL is located in a hood with other nearby venues and the mansion is a bit isolated. So, a plus factor for the SL is that chicas circulate more as opposed to showing up for the day and sitting around bored waiting for something to happen.

Hotel Taormina has a somewhat similar setup to SL, plus a casino if that appeals, and lots of reports say it's a bit better than SL right now. I observe that at SL, I can be gone for two or three years and when I come back, a lot of the same hookers are there. That can be good, or bad.

He has been working at Alkazar for years, I always have a great time in that place, been to SJ many times and miss it, try Las Margaritas next trip.

Heading to Medellin in a few day, it fun but overrated IMO.

Last night in San Jose and planned a night out with a long time Costa Rican friend. He picked me up at the Taormina and we headed to La Cascada for a great steak dinner Perfect NY Strip for me, Porterhouse with salads and sides and a great bottle of Argentinian Red set me back $110. Incredible!

First stop Tango India. Entry fee was $28 US per person included two drinks. Great table by the stage. Hadn't been here since 2017. About 20-25 girls dancing and circulating, we ordered drinks and we are accosted immediately by a late 20's pair of 6's who we decline their company. We're scouting the entire place and it is about 2/3rd full of a mix of locals and gringos. The place for me is a total disappointment. I honestly didn't see a girl in the place better than an 8. My Tico friend is mildly interested in a girl who is tall thin mid 20's a 7 who speaks english. We buy her a drink and she gives us a rundown of the prices for FS in the boxes which start at $700 US according to her. We order a second drink. Take in a few more dancers on stage. The place isn't what it was. We pay the bill $100 and leave.

Next stop. Alcazar in downtown San Jose. I'm greeted at the door by my old friend, manager, waiter, bartender, part time pimpMeister Jaro. He waves the $10 entry fee and takes us to a ringside table. We order a couple of drinks and he introduces us to a few of the girls. Solid 7's but nothing that interests me but one cute early 20 TICA has my friend's radar humming. We buy her a couple of drinks and watch a parade of dancers come and go till about 130 am. In the end, my buddy declines Jaro's invitation to take her upstairs for $200 for the hour. I just didn't see anything that got me going. Total bill for me and my friend 4 drinks each and 2 for the Tica was $50 and I threw my old friend Jaro a $10 side tip.

We leave and are parked in the gaited parking lot across the street from Alcazar. As we are leaving, we spot what appears to be an underground bar, club, ? Across the street from the parking lot. A couple of very cute girls ring the bell, and a young guy opens the door and the door gate and looks around, letting the girls in. Looked very interesting. My friend doesn't know the place but the girls entering the place were dimes and dressed to party? Anyone know this place?

I've never been to Jakarta but would definitely like to put it on my bucket list before I'm taking a dirt nap.

On another note, I started hitting the Del Rey circa 2010, I miss the early days there. Later not so much. There were a lot of fugly creatures inhabiting the place the year or so before they closed.

Got to say that the Taormina is doing a great job picking up the slack from the Glory Days of the Del Rey. Stayed there the weekend after the Superbowl this year and it was rocking Thursday when I arrived till I left Sunday morning. There was easily 40 girls in the place at 2 am on Sunday morning before I left. I walked in the door and Racquel early 20's 7/8 took me to my room and fucked me stupid till I left at for the airport for $250. The entire weekend the place was filled with dimes. The crowd was good. Bar staff friendlier than in past years. IMHO the place has gotten better and better over the past 3 years.
