Thanks for the reply and insight Johnny Sax. Your right...it wasn't that horrible of experience because I hedged my bet by only paying $100 for the 2.

The issue was more the changing of the stated terms and conditions...and the continued haggling for extra dollars as if I wouldn't know the exchange rate...when if you they just had done what was agreed upon, they would have been fairly rewarded over and above for there efforts.

And all this on the heels of just arriving and dealing with the voltures (cab drivers) at the airport and then....Fat Boy/Ricky Ricardo at the Morazon who feels the need to carry your soft drink up to your room so he can hang around for a tip.

I believe it is the longest walk in mongering...the walk from baggage claim/custom declaration in Costa Rica to the cab stand...After traveling for Un-teen hours...the mind and the spirit is just not ready for the onslaught...

With all that being said...I have a couple burning questions.

1. Been to Zona Blue on occasions...and each time I could hear an echo and actually play cards with the bartender if I chose. Is there ever a large volume of girls there? or Is it always picking between the 4 or 5 there who seem disinterested? I know people have had good experiences...what are the peak days and times...and is there ever the volume of girls there as there is at the New Fantasy

2. Sportmans Lounge. I have read the post of a few where they had an excellent time there. But on my visits...again...seemed like a ghost town and sporadic chicas to choose from? What gives with this place. What are the Peak hours? Is there ever more men then woman in this place?

3. I am always mystified by the lobby bar in the Morazon. It is relatively empty at night during prime time....and in the early morning hours...when the sun is coming up until breakfast...it is louder and more lively then the BM. But it always looks as if there are locals in there...people not into the trade. What gives on this place? Do I need to make a deal with Ricky Ricardo?

Any insight is appreciated.

I found that it takes the tension out of it for most woman, because some guys can be j-asses. But of course the risk is that you have given away leverage for a bad performance.

Well, everything started off well enough with both hitting the shower. And then the typical BJ from one while the other one throws boobs in your face.

Then fvcking began. I mean me getting screwed.

Anyway, when they tried to shower up without me atleast getting a second unload. I objected to the point where I started walking to the phone to call the front desk (Morazon). Not sure exactly what I was going to say or what they could do. But I had to show some kind of action.

With this one of the girls returned and attempted to wake up Mr Willy with a BJ, but buy this time, I was so tired and annoyed. I just wanted them out. But just out of principle. I had her sit there for the struggle because I knew I wasnt getting back up because my spirit for the whole event was broken.

So after an unsuccessful attempt at a BJ and an even worse attempt at a HJ. I dismissed them without a word except please leave.

The answer is yes. I am an afficianado of 2-fer's and I have had several good experiences, in fact I am batting 1000 with this.

The best way is at Zona Blue or one of the other massage parlor type places. That way things are under control, the price is set, and you don't have to worry about them getting into your suitcase etc.. Just take the money you need, no more, and you don't have to worry about them stealing anything; though I have never heard of anyone at Zona Blue getting robbed, anyway.

As for getting 2fers at the Blue Marlin, I've had 4 or so there, and all have turned out very well. None were lesbians, however; I only got that at Zona Blue. But I've brought back several 2somes for 3somes to the Morazan and all have turned out very welll. In fact if you do a search you can find some photos.

The bottom line is, you never really know how ANY girl is going to react once back in the room; it's an "art" to choose girls who do what you want them to do, and sometimes even the best of us are "off our game". (See the photo section for a "Venezuelan" girl who pulled the wool over my eyes this last trip.)

If you have your stuff locked away in the room there isn't that much risk, just the colones...

By the way, of the 2fers I've had, I've paid $90-130 each session, including tips. My very best one $100.

I'd like to add a comment as one of the frequent offenders. I COMPLETELY agree that this section should keep its focus on posting photos or at worst that and comments about those photos and that other type comments should go in one of the many other more appropriate sections.

The problem is, as Johnny alluded to, that it is too easy to get sidetracked. Even if some guys take it upon themselves to admonish others there will always be some guy who forgets or newbie who doesn't know any better. And, while moving those side discussions to other sections is a not a bad idea, who is going to do it? I'm sure the admin has a lot on his plate already. A good case in point is the very post that started this latest string of commentary. It started with a post on 2-fers by a new member Dark Rum who even though it was an excellent post happened to put it in the wrong forum. Rather than police it or move it, the admin recommended it for "Reports of Distinction" (which I agree it deserves). How do you cut a piece out of a thread and move it elsewhere without also moving the commentary it spawned? I don't see any easy answers here.

I agree that it is a pain to do what I just did, which is to move the quote over to this section from the Photos section.

I am not one to enforce or become a pain in the ass about these netiquette things. It's just that obviously there have been complaints about posting threads of discussions in the Photos section, so I think we should at least TRY to not allow threads to go on there. Someone just has to take the initiative to move it over to here or another one of the discussion forums.

We can at least SUGGEST that the discussion be moved over to here...

I was in San Jose for just 3 nights, but thought I'd share some comments.

The girls at the BM complain that tourism is "down" now, so you should be able to get some good deals, as I did, there.

I went to the Sportsmen's Lodge for the first time. Looks like a super nice place, at least the lobby and bar are very luxurious. Maybe it was an "off night" but there were very few girls there, those who were there were "occupied" and, for my taste, even those weren't that good. I had a beer and quesadilla there (good quesadilla!) and then left. Just my own personal opinion. I will try it again at another time. By the way, the taxi ride there took me down a very dark and out of the way place, and for a moment I thought maybe the taxi driver was taking me somewhere to rob me!

I braved Club Monaco alone. I had a great experience there one time a year or two ago, before it became a strip place, where I found a super cute girl and took her upstairs for $20.

Now, I do not recommend it, at least not on a Thur. night.. I walked in, there were only 5 girls, and only one was appealing to me. I sat at the bar, I was the ONLY gringo and only one other (Tico) client was there. I had gone in to see some dancing and see if that girl I had there might still be there (fat chance). So no one danced the entire 20 min. or so I was there. Some chick with braces but older came over to me and it was one of those situations where I had zero interest in her but did not want to be rude. Finally she would not take a hint so I asked her if anyone was going to dance. She said No. I said, "Well, then, I am going to leave." She finally left and I tried to get the attention of the one I was interested in but she was playing with her phone, so I said "Screw it!" It was hard to see her over against the wall and maybe she wasn't all that great, anyway. I forget the prices to go upstairs, or for a lap dance, but they weren't all THAT great, considering the atmosphere there (dark, sleazy) and the talent (5 girls only one of which might have been above a 6 or 7). Considering that the prices for lap dances and going upstairs are not all the cheap, I think I'll write this place off my list until further notice. The least they management could have done was to have a girl dance while I was there, I might have stayed for another drink...

There are still a lot of great girls at the Blue Marlin and sometimes at Key Largo. Key Largo seems to have more and more of a reputation of having the fat, ugly chicks; though you can occassionally find a gem there.

I was at the BM one night and met this cute Dominicana (photo soon to be posted in the photos section). I had already had my fun at Zona Blue so was not all that interested in finding a chica. But I liked this one so I offered her $50, expecting her to counter with $70,we'd settle on $60 and I'd take her backto the room. But she just said "No, that's not enough" so I did not want to play the game, I just said, "Okay, maybe another night" and walked away. I've found this works. You decide what you will pay and then be willing to walk away until you find one who will accept close to your offer. That night I wasn't really all that into it so I didn't care.

So the next night I was standing next to this black girl from Limon. I wasn't interested in her and told her I was just there to have a drink, so we talked a bit. I was a bit concerned since I did not know them at all, and was a bit afraid of them scamming me in some way, but I had all my important stuff put away in the safe at the Morazan so I wasn't too worried.

Went back and had a great time, they were both super cool, into it, and showed me a great time, no hurry, no hassles.

Another night I had a girl from Venezuela. I gave her $70 as I had never had a Venezuelan before and she was really seducing me at the bar, rubbing my crotch, being very seductive and flirtatious. She has great tits and sexy eyes. I forget her name, unfortunately, but she is the only blonde Venezuelan there, to my knowledge, and she said there were only 3 Venezuelans. As for Fat Ricky/Ricardo the bellboy there, I made him work for his tip this time, as I did not like the first room they showed me so he had to run downstairs and change the key for me and show me another room; I then did not feel so bad about giving him a mil for his efforts.

As for the taxi thing, when leaving there, I always get my own outside, and have them use the maria. It was $13 which is at least a couple dollars cheaper than having Ricky/Ricardo get it for you.

By the way, the cost of the taxi from the airport is now $13. $1 more is not much difference considering the rising cost of gas.

All in all another great time in San Jose'! Wish I could go about every month or two, but this will be my last trip for a long time, for various reasons.

I met a girl in Idem several years ago who spoke perfect english. She worked during the day at the INTEL plant, she had two kids. I asked her why she was working at IDEM, "because Costa Rica does not have child support laws" her tico husband ran off with a younger women, he had no job, nor is there any laws inplace to force him to support his children. Tico men get plenty of pussy, unlike American men they aren't force to pay for it for the rest of their lives, and in some cases beyond. That's not what I was suggesting at all. What I'm saying is the fact that we have so much more money to throw around for pussy changes the whole dynamic in many ways.

First of all, it makes prostitution more appealing from the women's perspective since there is so much more money to potentially be made and so it turns sisters, wives and girlfriends into hookers that might not otherwise become ones. In other words, whether they're getting any themselves or not, how would you feel if a woman close to you was prostituting herself with some fat old gringo with a ton more money than you and as a result in addition to "sullying her honor" it puts her in the position of being the real breadwinner. Don't get me wrong I'm sure many of these guys would have no problem "sullying a girl's honor" themselves, but it is probably something else for some fat old gringo being able to do it to "their" women. Also, I'm sure they have no problem spending the money that their chicas bring home but I'm sure the fact she's the breadwinner instead of them must have some impact on the latin male ego.

Secondly, while I'm sure that tico men are probably not hurting at all for lack of willing pussy, that is more for lack of enough gringos to go around. As many of us as there are, there still aren't enough to corner the market. There are just too many chicas who would go for us, er I mean our wallets, if they had half a chance. Few working chicas score more than an hour or two "rental" at a time from us, let alone hit the big payoff of a jerk wiring them money from the US or worse yet marrying one of them. And those are just out of the comparatively few at the HDR/BM and assorted gringo-oriented MP's like ZB or NF. What does happen, at least in the P4P arena, is that the better looking chicas wind up at the gringo oriented places and the scummier looking chicas wind up at the scummier MP's which tico guys can afford. Sure there are exceptions and a few "diamonds in the rough" at the more obscure places but as a general rule it has some basis. Go to a strip joint with both ticos and gringos in the audience and see who gets the attention. The chicas know the ticos can only afford to look and have little money to play around. Same thing at better quality supposedly "tico" MP's like Oasis. Sure they get some business from a few wealthier ticos, but even Oasis is beyond the pocketbook of the average tico on the street. That leaves places like the Pensiones, and from what I've seen of the chicas there the ticos can have them.

Finally, of course they're banging their "women", otherwise so many wouldn't be knocked up before they're 18. Hopefully, it is very few gringos that are responsible for that. i think it was clear that chase was saying that the ticos cannot afford the prostitutes in the del rey, not that they can't afford to date other ticas.

one other form of resentment they have for us is increasing, and that is that we are buying up all their best property and many of them can no longer afford to buy it.

this however is a double-edged sword: we also bring jobs to an area, employing them to be gardeners, maids, farm workers, construction workers, maids, cooks, babysitters, etc. etc..

gringos bring a ton of money into costa rica and in fact, if they start enforcing draconian immigration and tax laws which they are talking about doing, then they will be cutting off the hand that feeds them, killing the goose that lays the golden eggs...

that said, i can certainly understand their resentment of rich gringos buying up their land. but the same thing happens here: rich japanese, saudis, etc. buy up our real estate, even our farms, our businesses, etc.. it's the way of the new world odor, one world economy, and will only get worse with cafta, like it did with nafta, but there will be some advantages as well. all in all, politics has not changed: it's all about the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. the corporations will [CodeWord123] the land and abuse the people and destroy the environment for the almighty dollar. always has been that way and always will be. it's just that now, it's gone global more so than ever before.

Chase, we sometimes don't see eye to eye on things, but I respect your opinions and certainly your right to have different ones than mine.

I think you have made a very cogent appraisal of the situation here, as far as Tico culture. I basically agree with everything you said.

With Ricky Ricardo it is a no-win situation, I think. Or rather, it is either you give in (he wins) or you don't give in, and he loses and he thinks you are just a cheap American asshole because you have plenty of money but don't want to give him a dollar. But it's the principle of it, not the buck, that bothers me.

If I had 2 heavy bags, I'd gladly give him $2 or so to carry them for me.

Actually the cheapness of the Morazan is not the main reason I stay there. I stay there because the Del Rey is full, and I like the close location; and I refuse to stay at the Prez since their Draconian dress code policy. With my discount I could stay at the Prez cheap enough, but I don't. Again, it's the principle of it. (Plus the fact I don't want to risk any hassles at the door or desk.)

I can address the issue of people in the 3rd World or "Developing Countries" having the opinion that Americans are all rich. I had a girlfriend from Mexico who told me that in fact, her and her friends and family thought that everyone in the U.S. was rich and there was no poverty at all! Sounds stupid, but yes, many people in these poorer countries believe this. I guess stories about homeless and poverty don't make it into the 7 o'clock news down there.
They know we make a LOT of money here, but what they do not know is that we also pay a LOT of bills on things they don't: car insurance, medical insurance, parking fines, moving violations, utilities, clothes, EVERYthing is high here in the good ole USA but all they hear are the incomes, not the out-goes. They have no idea that one might pay $1200 a month for a one bedroom apartment, $60 for cable, $100 for gas heat, $400 for medical insurance and then still pay $25 for a doctor visit... We all know this stuff, but they don't, so they think we're rich. Some of us are. Others of us are just getting by, but have a priority of spending our spare money on chicas Ticas.

I have gone out with Tico friends and at the end of the night, the girl - who I was NOT with at all, she was just invited along for the ride by another Tico - expected ME to pay her cab fare back to her pueblo out of town, about $8. I refused and she started to cry. I gave them a lecture about how all Americans aren't rich, in fact at that time (I was living in Costa Rica) I was nearly flat broke myself, and simply could not afford to pay for her cab. I don't know what they thought, but I know I felt that they were out to milk me. They'd also expected me to pay for drinks earlier on which I refused to do, though I may have put in a couple extra bucks. I think it was an education for them, to see an American who wasn't rich. So the point is, there IS this idea that all gringos have money to burn. And in COMPARISON to them, we usually do, if you look at it that way. I have more money now than I did then, but having been poor before, I have respect for how hard money is to get, and I don't like giving it away for nothing. On the other hand, if I see a poor woman in the street, obviously hungry and in need, I will go out of my way to double back and give her some money.

But the whole thing is, for me I am against the principle of letting someone like Ricky / Ricardo force me into giving him money to carry my bag when I do not wish him to carry it. It's not the money, it's the principle of it.

As to staying at the Morazan because it's cheap, yes, it's nice that it's cheap, but frankly I stay there more because of it's location. If I could get a nicer room for $50-65 in that location, I would pay it.

However, regarding the rooms at the Morazan, the rooms are not that bad, exept for the showers that don't work right. The girls usually go "This is nice!" which is good enough for me. Also, another thing: the rooms at the Morazan, at least the ones I get, are QUIET. You can hear the music at Key Largo, depending on your location, but not too loud and with my ear plugs in I sleep great there. Not so at some other places, even the Prez with their hard floor hallways and clicking heels. I've never had a problem sleeping at the Morazan.

That might be somewhat true but I don't know if I would frame it quite that way. You're stereotyping all ticos (except for the few with direct exposure to the US) and I'm not so sure that is safe to do any more than it is for them to stereotype us. The fact is that nearly all ticos, and certainly the vast majority with their hands out, are much poorer than even the most humble of us. They see us as having tons of money to just throw around. That is a stereotype too, but for too many gringo tourists it seems to apply quite well (albeit probably not the ones that stay at a cheap hotel like the Morazon). So, in their view, the most likely route for them to make the money they need to survive is by soaking us for as much as they can. Even more so than from their fellow ticos. After all, we're the ones that have the money and we're the ones that have the culture of tipping everyone at the drop of a hat even for just standard or substandard service.

Finally, even when we are on our best behavior, the very fact that we are down there able to throw money around that they don't have, able to buy things that they can't afford, including their women and driving the prices up is bound to cause resentment among some ticos. Guys it is in their culture. Costa ricans will try to sodomize you out of every nickel you have. Deep down they Dispise Americans, but yet they have that "happy meal" smile about them. Living there for about 6 months in 2002, I learned the game. Costa Ricans remind me of the French in a way, they are two faced., except for some of them whom have relatives and may have been educated in the states, they tend to be more straight Forward. They feel that the United States has an obligation to give them whatever they want. they also remind me of the French, due to their anti-war appeasement mentality. Costa Ricans do not like to be confronted.

Whatever you do with them, never ever lose your cool... Just be firm and say "no" in a regular toned voice, it works... But fat ass, you may have to yell at him. When he gets out of hand , give him a quarter

You make some valid points. I also have lived there, and known quite a few Ticos. I think, like any people, it is over-generalizing to say that it is in their culture to want us to give them money, or that they despise Americans. Some do, some don't. Some love Americans.

Overall, I have found the people to be genuinely helpful and nice there. Maybe part of it is a matter of "Getting back what you put out there".

These creatures were all over Los Angeles last new years for the BCS title game at the rose Bowl. They are loud and never shut up.. Too bad some of them did not think the game was at the LA Coliseum and get lost driving around MLK and Figeroua.
