Non-essential travel is discouraged, right?

Should I book a teeth cleaning or something like that before I go? Will they ask why I'm going, and will "tourism" be an insufficient answer?

As a recent first timer. I didn't make any excuse at all.

If your already bored of Mexico or need to find extra things in Tijuana to make it worth while then it's probably best to stay home. I went through the government website, it was not an expedite fee. It is good for 180 days, the $30 ones are supposed to be only good for 1 trip, read yours. But a lot of Mexican immigration let you get away with 180 days.

A friend, who walks through weekly, says that's typical these days.

Thanks for the info. It seems like all you need to do is say I am visiting friends. And coming back leave real early like 1:30 or 2 am. To avoid the crazy line. Would that also work on Sunday night? Meaning Monday morning, LOL.

I wouldn't want to miss my plane. There should be a faster way to get a global entry pass or sentri pass than waiting 4 months.

Give yourself and extra 1 1/2 minimum if you have a flight. You never know what the situation can be. Personally I would start the process at 12 am then kill any extra time chilling out in McDonalds having a coffee or something to eat.
